Well, the shit hit the fan on that one. Even the Wife is mad at me for what I did to poor Kokoro, her favorite character. Strange, here we have a depressive, neurotic lolicon drug pusher and thief, yet everyone loves her including me, despite what I’ve put her through. The Okusan has made me promise that there will be a happy ending for Heart, so she’s probably not dead, yet. But if you remember from an earlier conversation between Binkan Suzuki and Jose Ecuador and a dream she had just after that Slice n Dice business, you know that she’s going to have to go to a very bad place first.
I suggest that when Ryo shows up, he’ll find that Heart’s apartment has been broken into and trashed. He’ll see the broken glass and some dried blood and some cardboard boxes, whose contents, packets of newspaper cut in the size and shape of yen notes and bound with paper straps, have been scattered around the room. At this point, he’ll realize he’s got a mystery on his hands. And who better to solve that mystery than the Girl Detectives? Or maybe they’ll just muscle their way into it.
And what about Etsuji? Remember, he wanted to get to Kokoro first in order to hide Brant’s involvement in the SnD business. He was willing to kill Heart in order to accomplish that, as I recall. So what happened? Why did Jose and Binkan get there first? And Brant? Yoshimi’s been dating him, but she doesn’t suspect he may be the person she’s looking for? Well, she’s not Sherlock Holmes, after all. Fighting monsters is more her line.
So there are a lot of loose ends that need tying up, as you can see. Actually, the Slice n Dice business was never important. It’s just an example of a MacGuffin, which you can find a definition of here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacGuffin. I’ve been working up to Heart’s abduction by Jose and Binkan for some time now, but if she had merely disappeared, she would have just been a name on the missing persons list. But as a hunted felon, she’s now at the top of it, and a priority. It was a stroke of luck for me when Chaos had Brant cut off those assassin’s heads in Kokoro’s office.
That was a sort of a lengthy exposition, but I figured I had a lot of explaining to do.
