Snagged a few games today

I just appreciate the magic of all women.

Perhaps. At least, I have to disagree, because I enjoyed Tottemo Pheromone quite more than Do you like horny bunnies?. But maybe, I just have a problem with ZyX in general...

... and that is of course simply stupid, because that was criticizing an expression of your personal taste.
Even though I like TP better, I see no point in attacking you personally for your ranking because both preferences have the same basis and no one's taste is more valid than any other one's.

Ok, I, like Unicorn, liked Tottemo Pheromone better than DYLHB?. The emotional presence of the Girls in TP was well represented, while the girls in DYLHB? were more sleazy (I mean they are Horny for crying out loud). Their emotions weren’t as well represented as their fetishes. That’s why I liked TP better.

That's true, but unfortunately some people don't see it that way. I don't know which annoys me more, emails like those or the ones where someone talks about how great a game sounds from one of my reviews then immediately starts asking me where to download the game and then gets pissed when I informed them that they should be buying the games.

It just always struck me as odd that my preference of DYLHB? over Tottemo seems to get me emails but my preference of Snow Drop over Kana or Tsuki over Sensei 2 didn't. Then again, maybe I should just count my blessings, neh?

Is that a formal request?

I'm surprised that your personal comments would generate so much fan/hate mail.

I hardly get any emails (aside from those two nasty viruses).

I have yet to generate a single email commenting on my game reviews.

shakes ekylo to see if a chain clear folder falls out

Well, getting email from people about game reviews is both a blessing and a curse.

I get at least a few emails each month about some review that I have put up. Unfortunately, 90% of the email that I get is asking me if I can send them a copy of my game, or where they can download it for free. It gets pretty tiring pretty fast when people ask you for free stuff. It gets even more irritating when they email you back because you told them "NO" and then just swear a whole bunch at you.

Those requests don't count.

Quite alright, old chap, so good of you to ask though... Besides, didn't we already have the Sensei 2/Tsuki discussion in another thread?

Actually, I didn't realize that some of the email I had been getting had been from people reading my reviews. I just sort of assumed it was people who read this board but for one reason or another, didn't want to post here. (Hear that all you shy people? ). But like Doug-san, the majority of the stuff I get is of the annoyance variety. The rest of the emails are the reason I make my email available (when possible) on my reviews and on this board.

Gomen, smog-san. The chain clear folder thing slipped my mind. I'll drop you an email after I finish up on the board this morning and we can talk about it.

If anyone emailed me such a request I'd be very tempted to email a reply and copy abuse@[wherever].com

If I got soemthing like that (and since I'll review a few japanese games sooner or later, I'm almsot sure that I will), I'd be VERY tempted to give them a link to a site where the downloads looks like the games but are in fact very nasty viruses that does very nasty things to the computer if downloaded . Too bad that there's no site like that,t hrough, no one that I know of, at least.

One, that would necessitate the existence of such a site.

Two, even if such a site existed it would be very illegal.

Three, it would very likely be ineffectual, as virus scanners are widespread (as they should be).

Four, deliberately causing virus infections only adds to the problem because virii will then use that PC to spread, or to open backdoors so people can send spam, or many other things.

Five, getting someone into legal trouble is far more effective.

I know those things . But you can dream, right? . Besides, it seems easier to get someone into illegal trouble than legal trouble.

intersting thought, that fake website with virus idea

though, what you describe is actually not a virus, it is a trojan

this immediatly removes points 3 and 4, trojans are user executed and thus unstoppable by virus scanners, also, since its a one-time-use bomb, it wont infect others without user aid

as for point 2, im convinced that there is no law on the internet, what with all the rampant piracy of H content

this leaves you with only points 1 and 5
all you need is for someone who can program, who disagrees with point 5, to go and implement point 1

trojans are actually a lot easier than viruses, since rather than relying on prrogramming skill to hide from an OS or virus scanner, you rely on user gullibility

ohwell, im too busy, someone else do it

What does the fact that this is a trojan have anything to do with getting past antivirus scanners? Any halfway decent antivirus scanner picks up trojans as well.

well, the way decent scanners recognize trojans, is by recognizing the specific file, after someone at the company anlayizes it and adds it to the database
this should take a very long time to happen, considering the small size of the target victim group, and if youre clever about what kinda damage the trojan does, you can probably delay anyone catching on for quite a bit

whereas, if it was a virus, a scanner might recognize it without the need of a database record; it might simply see that there’s a program exhibiting forbidden behaviour, with a trojan, since the user gives it “permission” by activating it manually, its behaviour alone wont give it away

example strategy for delaying being categorized into the scanner’s database: user executes trojan, trojan claims to being installation, trojan suddenly displays error message “your system requires graphics drivers X, installing now”, trojan goes to system folder, deletes enought stuff to keep the machine from booting up, user ends up assuming that the program was badly designed, and broke his machine by accident, no one ever reports the incedent to the scanner’s company

or you could simply have the payload be non-lethal, maybe it just starts playing a little education video about economics and why you should pay for products. no anti-virus company will care
actually, considering the size of modern hgames, you would need to fill up the filesize with somthing… yeah, why not an educational video

[This message has been edited by exoarchaeologist (edited 07-13-2003).]

Lets just develop anti b-game pirating nanites that destroy the culprits computer.

That's right. But we still can duke it out about Kana and Snow Drop, right?

... or that mails the user-information of the computer, it ius executed on to sales@peachprincess.com?

Perhaps, it should also add the user's soul as an attachment to that mail that should be forwarded to Nanemonai interdimensional souls inc....
