Www.canadahentai.com - Canada Bishoujo Retailer

Hi, in the past, as in before 1999 or 2000 or so, there were some problems sending hentai games (and adult products in general) through Canada and the UK. Both countries passed more flexible laws around 2001, making it much easier to send products through – and in fact, none of our customers has had an item seized within 2 years or more that I am aware of. It’s lame that they would care at all what grown-ups were doing with their free time, but at least things have gotten better than they were. I used to regularly pull my hair out when a customer would unfortunately have his items seized by Her Royal Majesty’s postal service (UK) but it’s largely a thing of the past now.

I can't speak for Canada, but I'm in the UK and have only ever had one package opened by customs in two or three years of international shopping. That package happened to contain Come See Me Tonight, but customs put it back without even removing the shrink-wrap and sent it on to me. As you mention, laws were passed a couple of years ago allowing the sale and import of most hardcore pornography, so packages are less likely to be seized. However, problems are likely to occur with any material deemed obscene - particularly sexually violent material. The packaging of something like Tsuki (I don't have the game, but I've seen the cover, obviously) would alert customs if they should discover it and would certainly be seized if viewed.

Sorry, little off-topic there...

when a package is siezed by customs, is the seller legally obligated to send another or perhaps refund the buyers payment? or is the buyer more or less screwed?

Nope, the buyer is skeee-rewed. The seller is under no obligation to refund or replace seized items. Most, if not all, online retailers who ship adult material internationally will somewhere have a disclaimer along the lines of "it is the customers responsibility to be aware of import laws in their country". Which is fair enough.

Of course no seller can guarantee that adult material will get through customs, however if there are problems along these lines, we at J-List do all we can for the customer, which can mean reshipping in many cases. It has not been an issue at all of late (countries are looking for terrorist-related stuff, not to stop reasonable adults from buying reasonable adult-related products). Obviously a customer who isn’t happy with his purchase from us isn’t going to return, so we make sure that doesn’t happen.

One weird thing customs for some reason never checked CRC when it came in from Japan.

Could it be because of the shipping method? I usually use EMS for orders from Japan, but regular USPS for orders from the US. I am happy that I no longer have to worry about customs.

Now, I got a question: Will CanadaHentai take pre-orders for Brave Soul?

Just as A heads up, I ordered Transfer Student from These people, and I was very impressed with the prompt service. The game arrived exactly when they said it would, without the pesky customs delays. Some good sevice all around, and it’s nice to support a Canuck enterprise
