3D Games?

I was just wondering if Peach Princess had any plans on translating some of the 3D games that are coming out of Japan, for example some of Illusion’s stuff like Artificial Girl 2 (or 3 when it’s released in November), or something from Teatime like Real Time Lovers. I think there’s a huge market for 3d H-Games this side of the ocean, so I was wondering if there were any plans for these kinds of games, cuz I would love to play them sometime

We’ve approached Illusion and their subsidiary Teatime on several occasions, and they are unequivocally unwilling to deal with us (or anyone else) on any terms whatsoever. It’s a shame, and we intend to keep on pursuing them to the best of our ability, but at present the prospect of seeing any of their titles legally and officially distributed outside of Japan is slim.

aw why won’t they do that? Don’t they know how much money they could make over here? I could easily say I’d buy every one of their games (almost all, with the exception of 1 or 2). I would love to play them in english

Gee, what a nice guy!
But… What about pursuing this one from CROWD instead?
You know, if a request from an individual BBS member got so much attention, maybe an entire Request Thread will give us the real game, this time  :stuck_out_tongue:

Uh…nice looking game and I would like to see it translated myself, but…what exactly is it about it that’s 3-D?
Still, I hope that you guys can persuade Illusion to give you guys a chance. I’d love to play at the very least A-GA and the Des Blood series.
BTW, have you guys had any contact with FORST, the ones who have released the Eden series and this game called Vanquish? It looks like they’re with Will so maybe you could get some 3D games from them.

Could they? So far, only PP was able to stay afloat with porting erogees into the English market and I’m not sure about “how much” profit they’re actually making…

Its a shame. Navel and Type-Moon made it big because they both had story. Everything PP has right about now are more porn based then usual. (except Crescendo which deserves a medal) I can see why they aren’t as mainstream. 3d wouldn’t really look that good. Like I said, things always look better on paper. That’s why video games tend to have chunkier battle sprites than the drawing itself.

Every b-game localization company that has survived is tied to Peter Payne. Jast USA technically still lives! Peach Princess, obviously, is still here, and Peter took over GC’s operations.

[Some of the others are still around, but have been out of the business for a long time, like Otaku Publishing and Himeya-soft. They don’t really count.]

This is because Peter runs JList. He has a reliable steady source of income other than the game titles, so when (for example) Peach Princess chokes on a bunch of really hard to translate titles (Doushin and LMM, I’m looking at you!) they don’t go under from lack of revenue. He can keep the company going and concentrate on expanding the market, which will only be good in the long term.

Oh, and Yashamaru – there is a considerable amount of truth to that, but you DID miss a few titles. The Angel Smile games … Kana … Nocturnal Illusion … Seasons of the Sakura … Brave Soul … and arguably even Critical Point – they all have strong stories.

I don’t like the 3d games myself. I wouldn’t mind some games with more animation, but that’s not a huge factor either.

I have to add here:

  • Chain - the lost footsteps
  • Tottemo -err- Target Pheromone (regarding its story at least as easily justifiable as “Brave Soul”! :stuck_out_tongue: )

Speaking of Illusion I’ve played

-Brutish Mine
-Battle Raper I & II

Brutish Mine came off as a bit Final Fantasy Light

Battle Raper II was decent but BR 1 was just meh imo. Although the CS in BR1 we’re really decent I thought.

Having some experience with Japanese companies and importing things from them to the West, I’ve learned that $$$ isn’t always a factor they care for. Plain and simple: there are quite a number of groups who do not want their titles in the West for their own reasons. Sometimes it’s because they don’t want the hassle of commitment. Sometimes they don’t want to provide or reveal the raw source materials (files, images, data, etc). Sometimes they just don’t like American gamers. Whatever the reason, profit doesn’t always tempt others.

A pity… because Illusion/Teatime are one of the best - if not THE BEST - makers of 3D eroge. It’s a very niche market they have command over: many groups have tried and failed follow in their footsteps.

Oh yes, the only 3d games I’ve every like came from Illusion, Artificial Girl 3 is looking like it’s gonna completely redifine the H-Game… perhaps. I like 3D better than ADV because there’s more to do, and illusion always does a great job on character design, so they’re never ugly either :stuck_out_tongue:

I like 3D better than ADV because there’s more to do

… ‘more to do’ in the sense of more controls for boring, boring sex scenes? You don’t need an English translation for that.

Realtime Lovers looks interesting though…

most of them have fairly decent stories as well, from what I’ve heard at least.

The girls don’t look as good. If Sendorikun makes an H-vid, I bet fans would flock to it. Not many people like the 3d SIMs.

And I have to add Yume Miru Kusuri. Aeka’s scenario was one of the best stories I’ve come across in a while in the area of eroge released in America. Not to mention Tsubaki has got to be one of the more likable and unique “main character’s best friend” type characters.
And Snow Drop too since it’s story is also justifiable, even though it is kinda short.

I guess I’m one of the few then, I’m more interested in the interactivity of the game than the actual story, which si why I like Brave Soul and Pretty Soldier Wars so much, is because of the gameplay. Really, who watches porn for the story, am I right?

Although I DO know that alot of ADV games have some decent to interesting stories, I don’t like just sitting there and clicking, waiting for the odd choice to come up.

So I’m hoping that Peach Princess can at SOME POINT get Illusion to change they’re minds about publishing on this side of the pond, because if you want to get people interested in 3D H-Games, Illusion is the way to go
