A characters sub-conscious

One of the most enjoyable things about Bishoujo games is the story. Would protraying the characters sub-conscious enhance that story?

I believe, dream interpertation would make the game more difficult, considering the nature of the mind.

Disscuss anything about stories. I’m here to learn.

dreams?
have you played Snow Drop yet?
your character often has dreams and memory flashbacks that offer clues

Depends on how it’s handle I would suppose. Of course, how would a player be able to distinguish fantasy versus reality within the game? (And of course the fun idea of distinguishing such within a game that in itself is “fantasy”. I think I’m hurting my brain… )

Hmm, psychologically, Nocturnal Illusions was pretty good with the underlying issues protrayed. And it got around the whole fantasy versus reality but making fantasy in effect into reality. (okay, definately hurting my brain…) But I think it’s a good example of working general symbolism into a game and weaving together a story.

I've played Snow Drop and its more flashbacks than dreams. The first night, where he dreamed he was cold, it turned out to be reality. Therefore, I really don't consider it a dream. A dream would be relantionship with Hanomi when we know Minoru's true endings. Acquiring the non-obtainable or some saying of this sort.

To clairify my original topic. The sub-concious or dream world, would happen during sleeping hours. Right now, most games use a black screen for a couple seconds to represent the passage of time. One option is to use dialogue. An example using Critical Point, Leiji thinks " Was I dreaming about Treppo or was it a memory? All I can remember is Treppo and myself standing at a doorway. Who's doorway? Why can't I remember the whole dream? Damn, I'll think about this later." Using this dialogue and the prior events here's some possible answers. Desire, precognition, or a flashback. If you played Critical Point, you already know the answer.

Nocturnal Illusions, I better check its availablity.

I think Peter Payne said they were working on a reissue of Nocturnal Illusion. I assume from the XP questions he was asking, they’re gonna try to make it XP compatable. It’s definately worth getting. (It’s probably my second favorite game–right behind Divi-Dead–although Critical Point and Tokimeki Check-in! are really good too.)

Hmm, I do hope they re-release it so I can get a new copy of it (not that I’m on XP but still…) I think there’s something wrong with the copy I have. It’s the strangest thing but when the game first starts up and sometimes when the music changes, it resets the volume on my PC to the maximum. Neighbors were probably wondering what the heck was going on at my place…

a re-release of Nocturnal Illusion?
where did you learn this?
are they re-releasing any of their other games? I want True Love…

I think it was in one of the past message threads, although I can’t find it now. I could be mixing information up, but I thought he mentioned somewhere that Jast was thinking about reissuing Nocturnal Illusion and the Otaku games as XP-compatable editions. (Personally, with the exception of True Love, I could do without the Otaku titles.) If I’m mistaken, I’ll bend over so you can all give me a good swift kick in the pants.

On Nocturnal illusions, I emailed Peter about it a few months back and he said they were working on 2k.xp compatibility, and would be rereleasing it once they complete that.

That is unless things have changes since then.

Has anyone played May Club? I have been wondering how good of a title it is as far as dating games go.

Good, I’m not crazy.

Anyway, I enjoyed Mayclub. There are a variety of characters you can pursue (sorta like Tokimeki Check-in!), although some (especially one) may shock you. Gameplay wise, you have so many credits to use per month to enter the VR machine and you can enter at 3 times of the day (morning, afternoon, and night). Since there are 30 days in a month, there will be some days you won’t be able to go, so you have to keep track of whom you made plans to meet. Once in the VR world, you can choose to visit various locations and see whom you bump into. (This part is similar to 3 Sisters’ Story when you can go to various spots in the city.) Characters usually follow a schedule (i.e., you can usually meet them in the same area at the same time of day). The art is similar to that in Nocturnal Illusion, which I guess makes sense since Milky House did them both. Hope this answers your question.

It might even be neat if we get May Club DX, if the response for May Club is positive. Pure speculation of course, since I don’t work for Peter Payne or Peach Princess.

Hey, what's wrong with being crazy?

I enjoyed May Club as well, I thought the storylines for some of the characters were quite interesting and some of the, er, "surprises" were also a bit interesting. Hmm, except recently May Club won't run for me. I don't know if my disk went bad or something. I've only heard bits and pieces about May Club DX, but I'd probably welcome it if it did come out.

I have May Club. I enjoyed it. I am not sure about May Club DX. It still use Japanese language. I will learn more Japanese language by self-teach.

Well thanks for the info on may club. It looks liek I will have to go track it down. i think Himeya might have a couple copies of it left still, that is unless its going to be re-released rptty soon also?
