A Few Questions

Hmm, I think I can see why you throught that X-change 1 was "thrash", but have you read what Lamuness told us about the next game? If what he says is true, then X-change 2 can't be compared to X-change 1, since they just have one thing in common - the main character gets changed into a girl, but that's where the similarites stops (or so I think).

About RPGs, by the way, you are right that japan has quite a lot of these and that most of them haven't reached the english market (althrough I suspect that _english_ games (not anime/bishoujo games, but "normal" games like the Baldurs Gate series) have reached the Japanese market alreday (and if that's so, then it's unfair! . We still do get one or another RPG here now and then through. Grandia 2 was released just recently if I remeber correctly (and most of the reviews I read spoke highly of it).

No, I have not read the comment about XChange 2. Having played XChange 1, I committed the error of dismissing XChange 2 entirely. I'll read the thread, but probably won't buy the game anyway.

And nowadays, the gaming market is much much different than it was even when I entered college. RPGs are huge domestically now--most of them come across the ocean now. There used to be a perception that RPGs were a niche market in the states--and so they were, because companies wouldn't take chances very often. Squaresoft was changing that slowly with the SNES era, and shattered that when FF7 was released. Post FF7, we've seen so many good RPGs released that, well, they're mainstream now.

Play Planescape: Torment. The game kicks serious ass--it's made the top three on my list of RPGs. (Keep in mind that I've been an RPG fan since the _original_ Final Fantasy and have played so many that I have no idea what the exact number is.)

Zorian - Heh, I first played through Baldurs Gate - Shadows of Amn a when I got that game as a birthday present from one of my cousins, and that game keept me busy the whole last summer . When Throne of Bhaal was out in the stores, I brought that game too and played through it a couple of times. Right now I’m playing the first game, Baldurs Gate (Wouldn’t want to miss one part of that serie), but there is still lots of things to do in the game, so I suspect that his game, along with Morrowind, which I won’t be able to play until my new graphic card arrives next week, will keep me busy for this summer too . Ahh, just one week left, then summer break is here!!!

Nandemonai - Well, goosd that you aty least checks out the game, instead of just ignoring it just because of X-change 1 . but if you buy it or not after you’ve hard the bad/good parts about it is your business, of course

About RPG’s I have to agree there. Not too long ago, the RPG genre was a really small genre compared to other game genres, but as better and better RPG’s got out, the genre grew rapidly, and now the genre is a real giant… And this has, of course, attracted some attention to the japanese RPG’s too here in the west.
