Agarest Senki - Ecchi comes to the PS3

This was kinda interesting; the game plays such that you chronicle the lives of 5 generations of an adventuring family, or the likes of it. And, according to a source I know, the game involves marriage and children… which means ‘certain’ scenes. The closest equivalent in Western terms would be the characters in Diablo 2 being able to marry and procreate to produce characters that ahd a mix of the parents attributes and abilities. Quite a unique idea for an RPG, and a b-game type at that.

If only it had h-scenes… the most is seems to have are ecchi scenes.

Sony has a strict no-adult games policy on their console lines… although in their defense, so do Nintendo and Microsoft. SEGA consoles were the adult game stations – and while they didn’t condone these titles, they didn’t go out of their way to prevent them. In any case, adult gaming is strictly a Windows PC thing anyways. Attempts to port them to Mac meet incredibly surprising failure from lack of sales.

While this game certainly skirts the line with Sony’s tolerance, I doubt the line will ever be crossed. Sony is notoriously stubborn with their guidelines, and has told much larger game developers “no, nope, nadda” with much more popular lines.

Tis is typhical… Yes stereotyphical…
Since they focus more on kid-safe consoles…
And mostly for teens…

But quite frankly… I cannot agree to this at all…
Anyway, carry on…

I agree with you, the line wouldn’t be crossed, or at least so easily. But I’d like to remember that the reason why the sega consoles, along with the PC-FX ones, sold those game stations was because of the eventual low profits they incurred: both the Sega Saturn and the Dreamcast (if I’m not wrong), had its own share of b-games, and even some adult games.

Back to the PS3… Sony isn’t making business. Sure, the real ‘hits’, like Dynasty Warriors 6 (Shin Sangokumusou 5) and others haven’t been released yet, but judging from the PS3’s relatively abd start, and the firing of its creator, Sony may end up being a little more relaxed. Though maybe not too relaxed.

Leaving thata side, the game does have a relatively interesting concept on its own… what sort of unique children can you produce ? And what will their RPG attributes be like ?

Well, although Saturn and Dreamcast had some b-games titles, I doubt any of them had eroge scenes into it.

(at least i don’t know any. Narg, can you (un)confirm it?)

Well officially you’re right. The only “allowed” adult titles on Saturn (i.e. they got a SEGA seal of approval) were titles like Virtua Photostudio and Gals Panic… not full hardcore action, but adult-only titles nonetheless. 3DO made quite a few titles like these when their own console failed. However unofficially, there were all sorts of obscure third party titles that perhaps were more doujin than real commercial releases… but they were hardcore.

But those titles you mentioned only have ecchi/softcore, hm?

PC-FX (Pc-Engine sucessor) also had 18+ titles, here’s a list.

I wonder why companies bother to have such titles with H removed from it. Just issue a high-level CERO/ESRB seal and that’s it (at least it should prevent minors from acquiring and playing such titles).

Probably had heard this was getting a EU release. Now shockingly Aksys is going to ship it stateside as a dl only PSN game.

With this, what NIS is doing with Holy Invasion of Privacy and the coming soon Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Codes perhaps peeps are finally understanding this is a perfect means to bring out titles of very limited audiences, but guarandamteed sales within said audiences.

Well we have 2 games out on market right now that do this somewhat: Rune Factory 2 and Dragon Quest V.

err… f/sn unlimited codes to be released by NIS? do you have the link, I just checked their press release and game list and it is not there ( http://nisamerica.com/ ).

as for Agarest war, the fact that it is coming to the English market is good news (want more  ). Now what is left to know is, will the title remain as it is (both Agarest Senki and Agarest Senki Zero have CERO C rating (15+) ) or would they attempt to modify it to secure Teen rating  .

note, Aksys Agarest War page ( http://aksysgames.com/agarest_war/ ) says nothing other then coming soon. I wouldn’t be to quick to write it off as a download only game just yet (I am assuming that the title would be large giving the RPG + CG [+ voice])

UPDATE: just found it, f/sn unlimited code would be release by Capcom in September ( http://psp.ign.com/articles/991/991401p1.html ). Thanks for pointing it out and sorry for the NIS question above, I didn’t know about it coming out
