To me, if I'm buying a "bishoujo" game, then that implies that I'm buying a game sold on cute girls. If a game has terrible graphics, or character designs that I dislike, then I can't justify getting it. Isn't this the same with the adult industry? I figure that most videos are sold by the attractiveness of the stars, not because viewers seriously expect any believable acting or plot.
On the other hand, I have to have some plot. Games that are literally no brainers, like digital novels, get incredibly tiring. Older adventure games tended to have only one "good" ending, and many bad ones. There's just no replay value as you either die/lose or you win.
I guess in summary, I'd give it about 80% graphics and 20% story.
As a tangent, I still can't figure out why bishoujo games almost always associate themselves with adult entertainment. Occasionally, you'll get an exception like Eve Zero--which in my opinion has super-cute character designs--but for the most part, most character designs in non-H games don't come close. I mean, when you look at F&C games, the Dead or Alive series--regardless of how top-heavy and bouncy they are--aren't even close to cuteness. Why is that? Why can't regular game companies generate anything like it?
