Another questionnaire folks

Hmm. I personally don’t assign numerical values/percentages to my preferences since I’m probably the worst judge of anything in existence, but I can say that I lean more towards storyline rather than graphics.

That’s not to say that graphics are insignificant. Although Leaf was one of the first companies to produce “visual novel” games and featured excellent stories, the character designs bothered me so much that I could never fully appreciate the games.

There’s actually one additional factor I take into consideration: gameplay. This applies to games that don’t fall into the standard point-and-click type, such as fighting games (Variable Geo, anyone?), shooters (like American Sexy Channel 3), or puzzle games (e.g., Innai Kansei: Midnight Nurse Call). These have virtually nonexistent or pretty weak plots, but the gameplay is entertaining enough to keep my attention.

Good question and hard one:
Artwork: 80%+
Storyline: also very very high, I don 't like games without a plot. Take bishojo puzzle games: you can play many many puzzle games so why choose for a bishojo game, just to watch those hentai scenes ? (same for shooters, bishojo RPGs, there are so many RPGs I would like to play … don 't worry I still want Brave Sould ^^)

People want better and better music in their games, I personally think bishojo games has worked too long with midi music, now I getting more satisfied hehe. Most time you don 't see bad points on artwork or storyline on reviews, usually on music.

I hate dubs !!! It sounds shitty

I prefer the games with a little more animation tossed in. I would love to see how good some of the Forrester or Illsusion 3D games are. As long as the art and story rock I can handle less action. It all depends on the combination just as it always had. great art but poor game play are a bad combination.
Hopefully it will be awhile before I buy one like that… as usual my 2 cents…

If you'd like to include any further subjects to the percentage please go ahead and do so but make sure you explain yourself well, so everyone can understand where your coming from

To me, if I'm buying a "bishoujo" game, then that implies that I'm buying a game sold on cute girls. If a game has terrible graphics, or character designs that I dislike, then I can't justify getting it. Isn't this the same with the adult industry? I figure that most videos are sold by the attractiveness of the stars, not because viewers seriously expect any believable acting or plot.

On the other hand, I have to have some plot. Games that are literally no brainers, like digital novels, get incredibly tiring. Older adventure games tended to have only one "good" ending, and many bad ones. There's just no replay value as you either die/lose or you win.

I guess in summary, I'd give it about 80% graphics and 20% story.

As a tangent, I still can't figure out why bishoujo games almost always associate themselves with adult entertainment. Occasionally, you'll get an exception like Eve Zero--which in my opinion has super-cute character designs--but for the most part, most character designs in non-H games don't come close. I mean, when you look at F&C games, the Dead or Alive series--regardless of how top-heavy and bouncy they are--aren't even close to cuteness. Why is that? Why can't regular game companies generate anything like it?

For me, I have a preference for storyline over art. Art rates about 30%, Storyline 45%, and Gameplay 25%. Which using Peapri games as an example. X-Change and Water Closet while having great art left me slightly disappointed storywise.

I prefer subs... but I don't prefer subs mainly because that the japanses voice actors are better than the english, I prefer Subs for another reason...

I like subs more because I think english dubs lack personality . I think Japanese voice actors put more emotion to their characters .

I always enjoy subs more, mainly because it does help improve my meager Japanese language skills. I'm also used to the format since I pretty much grew up watching various subtitled movies and shows.

I think part of the problem I have with dubs is that sometimes the vocal interpretations comes off odd (at least in my head). The main one off the top of my head is the "high-pitched, young character" voice. When I hear the original, I usually get the impression of "young, innocent and cute." When I hear the dubbed version, it sometimes comes off as "annoyingly perky."

I like dubs where the actors can put emotions in to the voices and where the voices match the movements of the mouths. Otherwise I will use the subtitles. The thing I have against subs is they can be hard to read, put up too fast on screen and they are sometimes faint against the background. Thank God for the pause and rewind buttons.

As per the usual this is not an official questionnaire and any names and numbers should be used only with expressed permission from myself and the participants

Well, I think character design AND story are important parts of a game (especially an Adventures and RPGs). I want the characters to be complex and I want their characters designs to reflect that.

Of course, GREAT gameplay doesn't hurt either.

Well, I don’t care at all for gameplay, as long as the story is good, the characters are interesting/loveable and the graphics is correct. For instance, I still like to play to visual novels in 256 colors with wonderful story and characters (“To Heart” someone ). I’d say: 60% story, 40% characters, 0% gameplay.

Hmmm, perhaps I didn't word my mind correctly: what I mean is that I want characters with personnality I can like. All bishoujo games have, well, beautiful young girls (sic), but you may not like their personnality. To me, if the characters' personnality don't appeal to me, I won't play the game. Period. For instance (I don't think it's bishoujo, but it's an example), I refuse to have anything to do with "Tenshi-ni narumon" because I can't stand the main female character.

Yes, I'm from France.
And, yes, my nick is French: "fol" is old French for "fou" ("mad"). Of course, it's also composed with the same letters as "olf" and if you take the first letter of "olf_le_fol" you have... "OLF"! which is a nick from my firstname.

Hmmm well i can’t really give percentages but the main thing i need is a cute girl to look at that appears alot, not just once in a while. Art does matter to me since i love art, the story has to be good or else i’d get bored, and the gameplay has to be fun. Hmmm i’ll try to percent this.

Art - 50% Story - 20% Gameplay - 10% Characters - 20%

The reason the characters percent is so high is because that i “MUST” like the chars in some way to enjoy the story itself, if i dislike the chars then i can’t get the feel of the story.
