Answer Dead

http://www.lechoco.com/answerdead/index.html

this is the link to a game that seems to be interesting… i would like somebody to please ‘translate’ it, or, if u have played it’ make a review…

and, Lamuness, i’m reading your mind, i know that i should’ve post this in games — help! or in reviews but here is more factible to found somebody who reads this and make review…
When u feel like it, u can move this trad to its correct place

“The reason we think the flowers on the precipice are beautiful, is because we are standing on the precipice as well.
Do not fear, because we are like the flowers,

We did not step off.”

Stylish…sort of reminds me of Duel Savior, but with a more serious/dark tone.

Well. the premise is somewhat silly (basically, the evil (first) and the good (later) sides of the main character’s “double” soul return to life and start (re-start?) their struggle -to say the truth, the things are more complex -and more silly, too-…).
Great graphics and sounds, however (Le Chocolat software house has truly great funds, apparently; the Demo Movie is beautiful: http://www.lechoco.com/answerdead/download/AD_webDEMO.lzh ).

The demo movie is alright. Duel Savior’s opening really wowed me, so I might be biased.

Here’s a link to download it, for those that are interested: http://www.web-giga.com/duelsavior/ds_download/ds_op.zip

Not bad, but I remember even superior movies…
However, thanks to your input, I’ve discovered that my old primary source of Demos ( http://www.xgamedata.com/ my last visit was months ago) is now inaccessible to my IE browser: “403 FORBIDDEN - Your Environment was not allowed to access on this Server”…?!?
Why? Can someone try the site and/or help me?

The link works for me. I'm using Mozilla FireFox, though I doubt it makes any difference.

I've heard that some proxy servers block access to a lot of websites located in Japan, for some reason. Some websites block proxies they deem suspect or unsafe.

I read somewhere that you can bypass certain proxy blocks, but of course, I can't remember any of it now that it has become useful information ^_^;

I'm sure Google can think of something though. Try sites like these two:

http://www.peacefire.org/bypass/Proxy/akamai.html
http://www.findnot.com/

I'm just guessing though. It could be something completely different. Good luck!

*Edit*
If you have Service Pack 2 installed (assuming you use Windows XP), maybe it is restricting access (sounds iffy though). Just guesswork, of course. The funny thing is that the class I'm attending now at school is "Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Microsoft Operating Systems", the "Troubleshooting Desktop Applications" doesn't start until next month...

The site works for me too. I'm using IE 6.029 and XP SP2

Unfortunately http://www.peacefire.org/bypass/Proxy/akamai.html doesn't work, and I don't want to download programs only for this little problem.
http://www.xgamedata.com/ was useful, but I can live without it. However, perhaps I've posted the wrong Link. The first page of the site (aka http://www.xgamedata.com/ )is accessible, but not the Demo lists, respectively:
http://www.xgamedata.com/index1.html for Win98 SE users, and
http://my.reset.jp/~kitano/menu/xx/ for WinXP users (which gives me access only to the "unimportant" files + certain -very few- Demos).

Now those links give me the same problem you say you have. As AG3 said, it’s quite possible the site enacted a sort of regional protection that keeps out IP’s originating in another country. Illusion has regional protection on its site so that attempts to download demos from them will redirect non-Japanese users to Yahoo! Japan.

Nope, they all work for me.

While I DO have Japanese region activated on my computer (haven’t bothered switching back since I hardly see the difference), I doubt that could avoid a block from the site.

Another day, another site that makes me contemplate selling my soul for the ability to understand Japanese instantly. Sigh…

I also currently have Japananse region setting enabled. I still have the problem, though.

As I've said, this site IS useful and nice. At least, I'm now certain that gaijin systems aren't barred off from it (the site says only that IE and Acrobat Reader are necessary for visualization -what version of Acrobat do you have? And, incidentally, have you received a few days ago my "Part 3"? -).
Maybe this is the occasion for trying Firefox...

Yup, it came

As for Acrobat... Acrobat works very poorly with FireFox, it causes the system to hang for 20-30 seconds (sometimes more), and often can't even display the pdf file. The site itself displays without Acrobat, you probably just need it if you want to display documents they offer for download.

Mozilla Suite works flawlessly with my Acrobat Reader.

Nope, I pass. Even with FireFox, those Demo lists remain unaccessible to my computer; probably AG3's computer has superior components/uses the best utilities/is blessed from the Gods.
And sorry, Firefox fans, I'm not interested in your browser. It seems very nice, but it's a certain fact that IE can't be deleted from any Windows systems (unlike other invasive Windows programs -I'm thinking of Windows Messenger, a true disgrace, but 100% deletable with this:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\\INF\\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
-at least, it has worked with my Italian WinXp Home-) , and I want the minor number possible of programs cluttering my system.
However, thank you for your help, AG3 and Dark_Shiki (I've sent to AG3 one of my usual "signs of gratitude". If Dark_Shiki is interested, please give me/creates for me an eMail address in this thread).

You don’t have to change to FF, you have Mozilla and Opera, 2 great Browsers (Opera ain’t free though)
i think even netscape is better than IE :S

I don't feel like I've done anything worthy of your praise...but you can use my Dark_Shiki AT h*o*t*m*a*i*l with a .com at the end address if you want. I check it regularly, for now at least.

OK, I've sent an eMail to *D*a*r*k_S*h*i*k*i*@*h*o*t*m*a*i*l.c*o*m*... Is it correct? Funny, I've always thinked that Hotcom was a minor provider because AG3's Hotcom regularly refuses 1MB+ eMails from me...

Free accounts have a limit, true, but there's another reason. In the last week, I've frequently been getting numerous spam mail in the 100kB size range, which makes large legitimate mail messages unable to get through. It's really annoying that spam might force me to either switch to Gmail or pay to get a "plus" subscription on my current account, neither of which I'm particularly keen on.

Thanks for the mail
