I am just wondering…is anybody here planning to attend BAAF in NYC at the end of this month?
While I would love to attend, due to budgetary constraints I will be forced to sit this one out.
I would love to go, but NekoCon Flash has pretty much thrown a monkey wrench into my plans…
I do. I live in Queens and work in Manhatten, so I plan to go to the BAAF. I have pre-order my tickets and and now trying to get a hotel room in the city so I can see as much of the BAAF as possible(maybe Kumiko to).
Queens and Manhatten are two of the five boroughs of New York City, for those who do not know the NYC landscape.
Hey, Jeff! goin to Nekcon too eh?
Did ya attend last year??

Er, no. The only con I went to last year was Otakon, and that's only because I live in Baltimore.
I may go there as I will have finishing my homework. I am now college student. Since I am in Manhattan and Chinatown.
I myself will probably go, and will possibly bring in a “friend” too…
hmm, I may be a bit too early to say this, but seems like not alot of people are coming?..look Kumiko, if you want to attract more people to BAAF, you gotta show up! Nobody’s gonna come if you are not there…
Local for me is Anime Central…

ok, I know that this is way into the future, but does anyone have tentative plans for going to Anime Expo in Long Beach?
(BAAF being on the other side of the country, and being a poor poor college student, I don't think I can make it )
What's the info on Anime Expo? I'm no longer a poor college student but I live in Hawaii. The cost to travel and having to take an extra day off (It's almost half a day travel to and from the west coast) does rather limit what things I can attend and what I can't. (Who knows? Maybe BAAF next year?)
Hmm, then I guess my next question is which anime cons would people recommend to attend? I’m more familiar with gaming conventions like GenCon and Origins myself but I really should branch out a bit. Also, planing next years vacations would be nice as well. (Assuming there’s any time for vacations…)

Kumiko it appears the the Operators of BAAF also agree with you; They have posted on the Dealer's Room page of their site the following:
"NO BOOTLEGS" Policy:
Please carry only properly licensed, commercially produced material, or original works. Items will be checked prior to the dealers' room opening, and items found to be in violation MUST BE REMOVED from sale. Failure to comply or a subsequent violation may result in removal from the festival and forfeiture of all dealer fees. Big Apple Anime Fest will be forceful in enforcing this policy.
This is the way it should be at all cons. It should be the job of who ever is running the con to up hold the law and copyright.
In regards to the adult area of the con they have also asked that all booths and tables be kept at a PG level, "no nudity". This I also agree with. It is the responiblity of the con, dealers and also the parents(everyone seems to forget them) to watch out for the children at these cons. I have heard everyone talk about what happen two years ago at the Anime Expo and it appears that BAAF is trying to make sure that it does not happen here.
BTW how big of a present will Peach Princess have, # of booth/tables?
