Aselia the Eternal official thread/FAQ

Didn’t we already talk about it? I’m sure I justified its existence once in a forum (though, admitted, I skipped the brutish parts themselves --not really my thing ^^;;;
It’s more the latter in all cases.

I don’t remember hearing that the release for President was going to be that soon. I guess I’m just used to Jast announcing a game, then like a year and a half later, it comes out …

It’s possible we might have and I just don’t remember it … but I don’t think so.

And well, an evil route’s no great loss for me anyway, since brutish isn’t my thing either. The other stuff that was added looks to be pretty sweet, so that’s alright in my book.

Short summary:

Protagonist loses his mind to his sword

Cue tentacle rape galore.

And about the release: Well, I have the dakkodango version so I probably won’t bother much with this one, but I’m happy its getting localized!

So let me get this straight: We’re getting the version that’s more complete, has more story and all than the original, and people are complaining because of the lack of ero scenes? People, this isn’t a port where the ero scenes have been edited out, it’s a rerelease with new story content that more than makes up for the lack of ero scenes. Complaining about getting this version instead of the old version is like complaining about getting the DS remake of Dragon Quest VI as opposed to the Super Famicom version

well the translation was completely done
the only part that wasn’t done was the menus so pretty much do those, convert it to american unicode and insert uncen cg’s

Would have been nice to have the Eien no Aselia Special Edition released last year translated, since it contains everything, but the difference between that and Kono Daichi (ry are just H scenes; they aren’t that good and they aren’t that important, so you aren’t missing out on a whole lot. The fact that JAST is investigating the non-18+ market is a good sign in general as it opens up titles like Steins;Gate to possible translation.

Well, I am glad my last guess on their announcement was correct. I wanted an all age game branch. I’ll be sure to get it. I just wonder what the requirements will be.

IF PP can acquire all ages games of this caliber then I’d say they’re on the right track to beating MG in that area.

I’m not sure how I feel about the licensing of games that already have a released fan patch. It kind of seems like a waste, when you should be going after untranslated titles instead. Then again, these are great games that deserve an official release. I think I’m mostly just sad that my favorite games haven’t been licensed. I dunno. :?

Anywho, I’ll definitely be buying Aselia.

I want this. So bad.

Eien no Aselia Special Edition: http://vndb.org/r7343

Not to say I’m not pleasantly shocked by this announcement. I played the original and loved it, and I know this will be a hit with the anime RPG crowd with the proper marketing. On one hand, I want all the extra content in the all-ages version. On the other hand, I really want the H and the uncensoredness. It’s paralyzed me with indecision enough to stall me from playing the routes I hadn’t played in the original when the English patch was released.

I hadn’t even realized that a new version was released that had all the content in one package. Is there any chance at all that we could get the Special Edition? I’d gladly pay a hefty premium to get my hands on the Special Edition in English–at least $60. What about a dual release? A cheap regular edition for the “mainstream” crowd, and an expensive LE (the Special Edition) for the hardcore fans and the adult crowd?

Come on JAST. I’d rather give you $60 than $30.

my guess is there will be a fan h patch

There wasn’t even a fan H patch for the original fan translation, which has been out for months now. From a technical standpoint it wouldn’t even be that much work to do. Hell, I could probably do it.
So yeah, at the moment I wouldn’t count on it.

I really am torn by this. Lack of ero is EVIL. I’ve never purchased an all-ages VN before. If people keep saying it’s an absolute must-have title I might change my mind, but right now I’ll be placing this at the bottom of my rather long wishlist. It might be my loss, but it will feel like supporting the beginning of the end for eroge. This might be paranoid, hysterical and trivial for most posters in these boards, but I’m a full-blown perv and it really matters to me.

Since this was posted while I was typing this, let me add that I 100% agree with Dark_Shiki:

I realize I could get a couple of cheap but decent nukige for that amount of extra money, but paying an extra $30, so that my principles don’t get in the way of me obtaining a quality title (I don’t actually know if it is), is worth it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mmm… I’m going to pass on this as a vote to not make future releases the non-ero version of the game.

It saddens me that a lot of people have this BGame = Hentai mentality. What happened to the “it’s all about the characters and story” crowd? This is EXACTLY what you’re getting. Furthermore, just because something has sex, doesn’t mean it got better. To Heart 2 X-Rated was INFERIOR to the non-hentai original, because the sex actually threw plot points off balance… and for the love of god Type-Moon still can’t get an ero scene not seem like a bad porno or without being some halfass excuse to battery recharge or weapon powerup.

EDIT
On a side thought: JAST is possibily not targeting the pro-hentai market, but making a serious attempt at demographics that DON’T like sex in their novel games. Like the people who get all those “Who Dun It” and various Nancy Drew titles (both authentic and wannabe knockoffs) I see taking up an entire shelf at the Best Buy. There’s nothing wrong with fishing in new oceans.

It’s not all about the characters and story. The added bit of ero is good.

And goddamn Type-Moon needs to get voices in first.

Seriously. If this means JAST can start putting products in stores, it’s going to be well worth the investment.

EDIT: And, yes, it is all about the characters and the story. What the ero does is offer a new perspective on the characters and the story, and I don’t think its role should be downplayed in that. For the most part I think the ero improves the eroge from both a story and character standpoint, and the same is true of Eien no Aselia, BUT this does not necessarily mean it would cancel out the improved sales JAST could get from releasing the all-ages version.

Of course, I think they should release both, but anyway~

Let me be the first to say, “Saihate no Ima, please?”

Hahaha yeah right.
