Before Dawn Daybreak - NEW Black cyc game !!!!!!!!

Well, Narg, looks like you’re right since the next game from Black Cyc is going to be Mugen Kairou 2.

Still maybe their next game will be better (sorry, got the date thing wrong). And who knows, maybe the sequel will be better than the prequel. Kind of like how Asagi 2, while nothing great, is a lot better than the first Asagi game.

Though here’s what I bet Narg’s reply to my optimism (both cases) will be:

That’s the date the official site opens on - it’s not the release date (July would be my guess).

Mugen Kairou 2 is really all they have left… I doubt there will be a MinDeaD 2 unless the scenario writter comes back or allows himself to be commissioned. In any case, this will officially be my “last chance” for BCyc. If they fail on this, then I’ll have no doubt the company has lost the dark ero touch. It’s considered a good series in Japan, scoring 80+ points here and there. Ignosco gave his support of it earlier.

According to the new splash page: the character designer is the same as MinDeaD BlooD and the music is New Wave Of Death Neko Metal. So it will at least look and sound great. However I’m just not hyped about it… BCyc has failed me too many times. I’m not going to preorder… I’ll just buy the OST seperately or something.

Wrong thread. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, the page for Mugen Kairou 2 is up. Thoughts from anyone whose played the first game? How does the story sound?

Hmm… it’s still too early for me to make an initial assessment. I need a playable demo first. I know MK2 is going to look good (the old school artists are involved), and I know MK2 is going to sound good (the Neko Metal is back), but a short story summary isn’t enough to convince me the title is going to read good.

I mean look at BDD. It had all those writers, and all the promo stuff got me really hyped. Then the actual game came out, and I left me… well… disappointed. It turned out to be nothing more than average.

I see a lot of the old cast members are making a comeback. I suppose those who enjoyed the original MK will be happy with that.

On a sidenote: it seems Cyc as a whole is pretty active. There’s another true love story from their White division. Also the MiO division is releasing another non-hentai “for-the-girls” title.

I’m really not sure that Mugen Kairou needs a sequel…

Although there were some potential loose threads left hanging at the end of the story, or things that weren’t clearly explained, all of the major questions were answered. Tamaki’s role or identity as some sort of ‘God’, the reasons behind the continual looping, that certain characters had their memories reset with each loop, the Tamaki/daughters/maids/‘katoru’ ‘Taro’ rankings or identities, the nature of the game played between Tamaki and Gumoruku etc. etc. Even the title of the final scene, ??, is in itself conclusive, and whilst I was surprised by the nature of the ending and the attitude of ‘Taro’ on the final loop, in retrospect it was pretty much a perfect ending to the game.

So whilst a sequel could theoretically be made, after Mugen Kairou 1, far too many details of the world + characters have been revealed for it to be meaningful. I’ll almost certainly be passing on this.

The rest of the cast can be seen here - original source here.

Ugh… I’m not impressed with what I’ve seen so far. To be perfectly honest, I’m more interested in the soundtrack potential than the actual game, and probably will seek to get that instead. I never was a fan of Mugen Kairou to begin with… :expressionless:

I suppose if you’re REALLY hard up on something new with a gothic plot focus, then check out Devils Devel Concept. Or maybe wait to see what else someone puts out in 2009…

Okay new stuff has been added for Mugen Kairou 2, if anyone’s interested, such as new character profiles and a couple of CGs.

Well, since i can’t read much Japanese do these updates reveal anything that helps make the possibility of a sequel plausible storywise? Also is there a chance this could be an alternate universe to the original game?

Speaking of MK, I have a question, is there anything that hints that it takes place in the same world as the other Black Cyc games? Since I’m playing Extravaganza, I noticed that Ageha’s surname name is written with the same characters as Reika’s and Tamaki’s so I was wondering if they might be related.

EXTRAVAGANZA takes place in the same universe as MinDeaD, Gun-Katana, and Gore Screaming Show. Eri Kotofuki and Cerberus Guard 69 are mentioned as a popular band in EXTRAVAGANZA. Also a lot of things about the NON-HUMANS, have much in common with the Mushi.

I’ve been noticing, while playing Gun-Katana, a lot of interesting overlap with EXTRAVAGANZA - certainly a lot more than any with Gore Screaming Show. It seems Gun-Katana and Extravaganza are a lot more closely related, anyway. I suppose it makes sense since these two games were basically released in succession and appear to be the best* Black Cyc titles.

*Of course, I haven’t cleared Mugen Kairou yet, so I don’t know if it’s going to be the best Black Cyc like Ignosco implied it was-- it certainly looks to be more of a ‘true’ dark eroge than the others, though.
From the titles I have played, or at least played enough of to form an opinion of:
Extravaganza / Gun-Katana > MinDead Blood > Gore Screaming Show >>>> Before Dawn Daybreak > Yami no Koe Zero > Mushi-Tsukai >>>> Extravaganza ???

Unfortunately, nothing so far really mentions what happened in 1.5, so it’s unclear why certain members of the cast have either been replaced, or have changed positions (1st and 4th daughters). I don’t think that it’s an alternate universe, since the genre suggests that it’s a continuation of the earlier stories. (???ADV)

I’m not sure if this CG is enough to suggest that the game takes place in the same universe as the other Black Cyc games http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8797/mugen9i.jpg - but it’s the only reference I can remember coming across. No idea if the surnames are just a coincidence, or something else.

(Oh, and there are some more CGs here.)

Very much personal preference, as it’s just a score in terms of story/atmosphere. In objective terms, the music of the original Mugen Kairou is bad, the art is roughly on-par with MDB (but with a lot less CGs and variations), there are fewer ero-scenes than any other Black Cyc title etc. It’s also very different to the other major Black Cyc titles as in a general sense there are no combat scenes/strong protagonist/guro/tentacles etc, plus 90% of the scenes are masochistic, rather than sadistic.

What I really liked about Mugen Kairou was (in no particular order): Gumoruku, the dystopic universe it’s set in, all the endings in the second half (from loop 4 onwards), the philosophical elements of the story, the quality of the writing and the conversations between Taro and Tamaki. [Edit: and the final ending]

Well, yes, but we’ve got fairly similar preferences, and we both like utsuge, kanji hell and philosophy, so =P

The strength of connections, and how obvious they are, vary from title to title.

The “core” game of the unified universe (in that it’s the first chronologically) is Mushi Tsukai. Naturally EXTRAVAGANZA is the sequel to that. MinDeaD BlooD is tied to EXTRAVAGANZA, because of the aforementioned Eri connection: a character in EXTRAVAGANZA is a fan of hers. Gore Screaming Show is directly connected to MinDeaD because of Eri, the Ichinose family, and Yamiko wanting to visit Chisakura Island. Gun-Katana is directly connect to Gore Screaming Show, because of Bloodeleven being the same “creature” that Gore is. Someone also mentions having visited Chisakura Island in the past (thus MinDeaD) and we have the extreme similarity of Mushi and NON-HUMAN biology/powers/nature/etc… which is way to close and shoved down our throats to be mere coincidence (thus EXTRAVAGANZA).

Those are the “confirmed” BCyc that take place in the same universe. The Yami no Koe series is speculative… serveral items in them sport the New Wave Of Death Neko Metal logo, which is a fictional “name brand” that also pops up in Gun-Katana and Gore Screaming.

Several preorder fandiscs feature characters from Gore Screaming Show and Yami no Koe in the same setting. However these fandiscs are noncanon, and often times, completely contradict the main games themselves. Unlike the other titles, there’s no direct correlation. My gut instinct tells me Yami no Koe is part of the main BCyc universe… but until I find or hear proof about it, it’s kinda iffy.

Mugen Kairou doesn’t have any imagery or characters (notably Eri and her band) connecting with the other BCyc titles. I’ve seen some “guesses” made, but honestly they lack distinct proof. Maybe these sequels will connect it to the others, but for now, Mugen appears to be in it’s own pocket dimension (so to speak).

Verdict is still out on Before Dawn Daybreak. There’s a weird - almost impossible to believe - cameo from Gun-Katana. It’s so out of character, it doesn’t make sense really… probably an “Easter Egg” deal… There’s also the deal with Norma East looking like the Death Neko. These two oddities aside: BDD lacks an Eri connection, a character being related to someone else, or the mentioning of another game’s location (Chisakura Island, Kurehito Forest, etc).

I just recieved the Yami no Koe Eikyu Daraku Box, but could someone answer this for me?

Whats the difference between:
Yami no Koe
Yami no Koe Special Edition

Does the special edition contain extra cg’s or something? Based on pictures i found on the internet it looks like the CG’s are darker…

Also, which one fits into the storyline? Is it the Original, or the special edition?

Completely off topic, but I’m interested to know if anyone’s played Liar Soft’s ???. It hasn’t received particularly good ratings on EGS, although that might not the most reliable barometer in this case, given that it appears to be a somewhat offbeat dark eroge.

As far as I know the special edition is fully voiced, and it contains some additional CGs (as extra degenerations are added for the male characters), along with other special events (when multiple characters are in certain degenerations). The storyline in both versions would probably be identical, as they are single ending games - the replay value stems from unlocking the different ero-scenes through different combinations of characters + degenerations. Otherwise, the special version seems to contain everything that the original version has, so I don’t know why they included it in the box set.

Yea… Ignosco hit it on the nose. :o

Yami no Koe Special Edition is the superior release of Yami no Koe. BCyc updated the artwork, music, voice acting, etc. It’s the same situation and treatment as MinDeaD BlooD DVD Special Edition and MinDeaD BlooD. Basically the company was looking to make more money off hardcore fans, while at the same time get new comers interested in their older titles.

Special Editions are superior to the regular editions. They probably included both, just so people could tell how much better they are. 8)

you know is there any word on the new game? the page hasnt changed at all …they may have to go to black cyc with theyre tails between their legs. :expressionless:

AGEHA?EXTRAVAGANZA?? Unfortunately, it’s a Cyc Members only game, so they probably won’t release much information about it to non-members.

nope this
