I am soliciting advice from other webmasters for tips on image embedding. The web space I have are university accounts, and it isn’t very big, so I will have to sacrifice a lot of extra email and other junk that I threw on my webspace, while at the same time retaining images of decent resolution. Right now I’m not looking at hosting images off of my server space, so what is a good resolution and size for the images?
I think any pic with the longer dimension of no more than 400 pixels is sufficient (so if it’s an actual screen aspect ratio it will be 400x300 for example).
and of course smaller for thumbnails
I saw Animetric’s example and it comes with four small pictures, with no bigger ones. Hentai Neko has no pictures, just a small picture of the game’s cover. Which does everyone prefer? From my survey I gathered graphics is important but not nearly as important as characters and story, so is 4 the magic number of images to have on a review page?
Actually I find odd numbers of pictures to be more pleasing to the eyes.
Actually its an artistic thing. Until you reach about a dozen, at which point it just looks like a lot. Try it out for yourself though. Put two pictures on a wall side by side, then add the third picture below them and see how much better it looks. Even numbers of items look too structured. The odd item adds life and character to the setting. Design 101
Maybe I’m just an old-timer, but I’ve always edited my webpages in raw html instead of using a HTML building program, plus I’d rather save myself the money than spend it on some program that will do it for me. Do stuff like Front Page, so on so forth do anything else like optimize the page for quick loading, and stuff?
i personally use Optiview to minimize the size of my images without sacrificing picture quality…you might want to take a look
and i also do my own html coding…hurray for the do-it-yourselfers!
Thanks for the tip ladyphoenix, that optview service is just wicked. When the website goes live, can I trouble other webmasters as well as my visitors to do further editing and proof read? I plan on proofreading everything to death (Strunk and White says brevity is a plus) but I imagine some sentences will still be run-on and there will still be some bumps with the flow of the paragraphs.

Sure. And it always helps to have someone else going over things as well, I don't know how many times I've written something, proofread it dozens of times and still have some spelling or grammatical error pointed out to me. Just remember to give out the address and probably update your profile to include the page as well so anyone can stop by when they want.
Who else besides ladyphoenix and rowena maintain Bishoujo game websites? I’m compiling a list of links for other Bishoujo game reviews but turned up only two that I visited regularly. Do ladyphoenix and rowena have special web banners that I can post on my links page?

Have you check H-Gurl’s website yet?
It’s at http://www.hentaineko.com/
Another site: http://omoiwa.anime-ftp.com/
A somewhat starting site about bishoujo games… You may want to go there to start correcting the misinformations which will come out there.
Or you may not. ^^;;;;;;

Huh? I think H-Gurl and Hentai Neko are two seperate people and that H-Gurl's website is a doujinshi and manga page. Err, hold on...
here's the webpage: http://ryokosshrine.com/hgurl/
Come to think of it, Ladyphoenix's, Rowena's and Hentai Neko's are the three main pages I check. Interesting that they're all run by females. Not that I mind, more power to pretty girls!

Nice place, but the community seems a bit... shady. ^^;

Don’t forget http://www.densetsu.com – it’s got not only English but Japanese bishoujo game reviews as well.
Please give me suggestions and advice on the Bishoujo reviews I have currently available on my websites at:
http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~yeoushiu/bishoujo
and
http://www.princeton.edu/~yeouhsu/bishoujo
The content is the same, I plan on mirroring both sites so that one will remain up in the event that a hack runs through one or the website goes down due to network downtime.
I think the format I adopted for Viper M1 looks rather nice with its paragraph style. I’m still working out the kinks of implementing StyleSheets (I became so rusty!). Also, everyone is welcome to proofread the reviews and please send the feedbacks back to me, or what you you think was inadequately addressed in the reviews. You can download the source and edit it in a text editing program, add text colors and provide comments, I figure that’s probably the best way to help me make the appropriate modifications.
I just have to ask… Simstapler? @_@
