Demonbane sequel

Will the sequel “Flight of the Machine God Demonbane” ever be released in english?

Did “Deus Machina Demonbane” not sell well enough to warrant the localization of it’s sequel or something?

One potential issue is that the sequel isn't an eroge.

How is that an issue? Steins;Gate is also not an eroge and JAST USA released a non-eroge version of Romanesque on Steam as well as only localized a non-eroge version of Aselia the Eternal (while an eroge version exists). If Demonbane sold well in these past 4 years, I just would like to know why it's sequel couldn't be localized?

Now I know Peter said that My Girlfriend is the President Fandisc didn't sell well so I understand the reason why they wouldn't localize fandiscs, but this is not a fandisc here but an actual sequel to Deus Machina Demonbane.

We aren’t a porn site, just that most of the games we have localized are eroge.

Demonbane sequel can be in the cards, a lot of different factors will affect if we do it sooner or later; popularity, past performance, getting the contract, costs etc. We do have a suggestions thread on the forums, so anything you’re interested please feel free to post (of course if the IP is already licensed or if the Japanese Dev just doesn’t like foreigners we can’t do much about it but we are open to suggestions).

The appeal of sequels is that they're similar to the original in some way. The original sets expectations for the sequel. Say, for example, that Demonbane was an RPG. If the sequel were a pure VN, this would cause some disappointment, and as a result sales would probably suffer.

The real issue, I suspect, is that Jast USA licensed like 4 games from Nitroplus already.

I expect that Demonbane 2 would be a much more attractive proposition if both it and its prequel could get on Steam.

would be great, but regarding demonbane 1 beeing made steamcompatible, find it abit hard to imagine, cause few h-scenes are halfway plotrelevant, or interwined with making choices…

It's totally doable though. Yes in some instances you may loose a little context making the cuts but that's to be expected. You can check out the Demonbane anime on Crunchyroll to see how the anime staff dealt with these decisions.

Spoilers ahead:

For example on the do or don't make love to Al choice, after saying yes, you could just show a CG of them kissing, fade to black and then resume with the takeoff sequence.

As far as the sequel goes, I'm definitely in favor of JAST releasing it. According to VNDB its fully voiced, has slightly better looking art and even looks to have some Mecha game-play sequences (although the game-play would probably be closer to the PS2 Rahxephon game than say Zone of the Enders).

Nitroplus is one of JAST's best partnerships and I'm hoping for many more games from them. They just have to get through the current backlog of licensed but unreleased games.

Deus Machina Demonbane All-age version is not a problem since it got an all-age version on Playstation 2.
