Doukyuusei 2 Special DVD

I can safely assume that you watched the OVA (or the TV serie, which is basically the same). Before continuing, there are 6 DVDs of the OVA, and 3 extra DVDs called Sotsugyosei: Doukyuusei 2 Special.

The special takes place in a sort-of alternate storyline, but has the same characters. As for the what exactly is the story, sorry; it is in my queue of anime to buy… ^_^;

Kumiko wrote something about it on one of Peach Princess updates. It was on September 10th.

Basically, SoftCel (ADV’s adult division), bought Doukyuusei - Natsu no Owari ni (the four OVAs), and re-labeled it as End of Summer 1 (OVA 1 & 2) and End of Summer 2 (OVA 3 & 4). They edited it slightly, though, as some scenes were removed. IIRC, one of them was Wataru’s dream were Mai was swimming naked.

As for Doukyuusei 2, there are 12 OVAs, which were edited to fit into 9 TV episodes. Check the link above as Kumiko wrote quite a comprehensive summary.

Yeah, there are some really nice one. I specially like one of Mahoko from Kakyuusei. Oh well, I guess this gives me yet another reason to try to learn Japanese (or die trying!)

The problem is... Unless you have a LD player, you won't be able to buy Doukyuusei, as PinPai hasn't released them on DVDs.

I have one chinese dub version of OVA 1, however, I never managed to find the next OVAs. I won't hold my breath on it, nor I plan to find them, as most likely they will be bootlegs. As for English version, unless NuTech has it as a well hidden wild card, nobody has licensed it. So we have left only with the Japanese versions, which, fortunately there are DVDs (also, LDs, but alas, DVDs are R2). Check for them in places like CD Japan or Anime Jungle.

As for editing... Kumiko has not found the editing that has been said in her copies. Her copy of End Of Summer shows Minoru dreaming of Mai-chan swimming nude at the beginning, exactly like the original Japanese one-shot (which she also has a copy of, someplace...) Then again, it's been awhile since she watched it, too. She has ADVs original release in a clamshell case, but they did rerelease it later in a standard cardboard case (rather than the original clamshell). The second tape was only released in regular cardboard. Either way, the first two Doukyuusei OVAs are somewhat different than the original one-shot... PinPai did a few corrections to mistakes in certain scenes, etc, when they went back and did the full 4-part OVA series. There's also the Doukyuusei Climax OVAs, and Doukyuusei: My Sweet Memories collection of sex scenes from all the OVAs (including Kazuya's in the Climax OVAs).

The Doukyuusei 2 Special: Sotsugyousei (Graduates) 3-part OVA series is technically non-adult, but with lots of very nicely done "fan service". [img]http://princess.cybrmall.net/ubb/wink.gif[/img] It features a different lead male, focuses a lot on Yui-chan and Karen-chan. The characters have graduated (thus the title) and the romance is between Karen-chan's older sister and the new male lead.

Someone (I forgot where) said there was an extra scene with Wataru and Misa after they
did the nasty. I was wondering why that scene seemed a little disjointed (the ADV version just cut to Wataru and his scuzzy friend at an arcade).

For Laser Disk players, just check eBay, they are offered there fairly regularly. Usually for anywhere from $50 USD to $100 USD (depending on make, model, quality, etc.)

Also, some used electronic stores sometimes carry them, as well as local electronic stores.

I've played both Words Worth and Be-Yond on Windows XP and didn't have any problems with the font. Words Worth I had to turn off Hardware accelleration on my sound card to get it to run correctly.

One thing I need to ask. Does Wataru have sex with that purple haired doctor in Doukusei OVA 1 and 2 or was the nude model sheet of her on the one shot just fan service?

Well, there is a purple haired doctor in Doukyuusei ~if~, but I don't recall seeing one Doukyuusei 1 OVA. The doctor who attended Misa in OVA 1 had her hair yellow-green, IIRC. Could it be that you are confusing with Natsuko? The college girl who Kazuya (your best pal. Yeah, right) wanted to dump Kurumi for?

As for Doukyuusei 2, it is not Wataru, but Makoto (and Misa is back!) and this time, I am definitely sure there is no doctor here!

Aren't you confusing yourself with True Love? ^_^
