Speaking of the downloads, can you use something better than BMP for the images ?
PNG would be a much better choice, imo.

Because, by then, you have already wasted several minutes downloading the BMP! That was Slayer-san's point.
Martinez-san: PNG is a pausible option, but it may sound odd to people who are get used only to JPGs and GIFs. Hmmmm... Makes me wonder: after all, why not use PNG, which mixes the best of JPEG and GIF...
Kumiko-san: that does not prevent, as Sandalphon mentioned, that a person downloads an image and convert that image him/herself into another format.

Or even if need be make the wallpapers archived into a compressed contents that's password protected... but the problem that leads from there is how will you issue the passwords to extract the wallpapers?
erhm.. well.. it's really easy to "fix" images that have that kind of stuff (imprints.. etc..) .. even water marks only need just a bit of dedication.. and.. here you go.. you have a new ready to "freely distribute" image on the web!.. that's true.. honestly.. wasting time "modifying" a picture to prevent piracy is useless.. maybe encrypting the files should be a good solution.. but i think that the best way to prevent it.. is only distribuying omakes via the game CDs.. so if you want omakes.. buy the game.. "support the bishoujo"..

well… but you can “promote” future works showing stuff in the already available game Cds has you did with X-change…
or you can “show” images or stuff like that on your site… but blocking the “right click” options… so that prevents piracy… …well only for inexpert pirates… cause… you can hack a site… and… erhm-- a useless option again… but it slows the piracy a bit…
those are just ideas… or… experiences??
well… that’s true… but there must be a solution against the piracy… the question is… which is the market that you want to offer the downloads… ??
cause as you said… “fans” like me and many of this BBS really don’t need the downloads… but… downloads helps keeping up the interest about future works… so the interest will grow…
but getting the attention of new costumers is totally different… cause… you can keep offering the downloads… or… just shows pics in your site… but desabling the right click interface… so new costumers could look what’s about… but if they really want the omakes… they’ll find them only buying the cds… I think that this is a good option… cause… if what you want is to check the CG quality (as i do) you can see it online… (or if you want to know the plot you can read it in the site…) but… if you want desktop wallpapers or any kind of omakes… you will get them in the CDs… so… that’s a good solution…
I haven’t been to your download section since I no longer care for pure pictures anymore. Can Will allow you to put your web site address or Will’s site on the pics? That way you can get free advertising even if someone priates them. More they get distributed, the better.
As for cost, put maybe 3 or so pics per game and axe the movies. Movies are only good for sites with enough money to afford them.
Anything else, shove them on game CDs.
well… if people begin ilegally copying those freebie Cds… sooner of later they will began copying the original games… there’s a problem with this… the more the software is known… more chances it have to end being copied or freely distributed on the net…
