eBay Listings Sucks

I was just checking eBay the other day for hentai related items…

A seller from the U.S. auctioned the original “Anime Strip Poker” by JastUSA.

Another seller from the U.K. auctioned an original Japanese Hentai game.

Both items were listed with 24 hours of each other.

But the seller from the U.S. who tried to seller his original “Anime Strip Poker” got his auction cancelled… it’s not there anymore.

Yet the U.K. seller still has his auction going as we speak.

Funny… isn’t it?

Three weeks ago, the same thing happened. The same U.K. seller had no problems auctioning his original hentai game.

A seller from Japan had no problems selling his original hentai posters of hentai games.

Yet my auction for an original JASTUSA game was cancelled along with some of my other hentai auctions.

I’m going to be blunt… I think I know who’s behind this Hentai related stuff being cancelled on eBay general area site… but I’m not going to name names…

You can probably figure it out for yourself.

Here’s a hint… why is that some sellers can auction DVDs, toys/figures, posters, t-shirts, bootleg copies of games, bootleg copies of mangas/doujinshis burned on cd-r’s … even hentai games and mangas if they are not U.S. sellers. Yet when some honest person from the U.S. tries to auction his items along with these items in the same general area of eBay’s site, their auctions gets cancelled.

Please be aware that the 2 most common items that get cancelled in the general area are hentai games and hentai mangas/doujinshis… but why not DVDs? or other hentai related items?

Other things with the word “hentai” used in the auction, especially thoses DVD’s which are as much as if not more graphic as these games and mangas are, have no problem being auctioned without being cancelled… yet they are "hentai’, but there is no problem auctioning it on eBay’s general area site.

Who do you think would have the nerve to cancel legit hentai games, mangas, and doujinshis auctions on eBay’s general site, and yet not cancel any another form of hentai items, nore not even bother cancelling non-U.S. sellers who sell the same type of items that they just cancelled.

They’re all hypocrytes I tell you… this is pretty much discrimination… thinking about filing a complaint with eBay, but it’ll do no good, whoever’s doing this is being unfair… these fools… If I have to sell my items in the mature section, they all should have to too! This sounds a little bit like politics, but it’s about being fair…

From many months of investigating, the only auctions that are cancelled in the general area are only “ORIGINAL” hentai games and mangas/doujinshis… YES “ORIGINAL” ITEMS GET CANCELLED, BUT BOOTLEGS ARE NOT… COULD IT BE THAT THE BOOTLEG SELLERS ARE CANCELLING MY LEGIT AUCTIONS… I DON’T THINK SO… BECAUSE MY AUCTIONS ARE MOSTLY JASTUSA ITEMS SO I ALREADY KNOW WHO’S BEHIND THIS “AUCTION ENDED BY EBAY’S CUSTOMER SUPPORT STAFF”. JUST LIKE THE SELLER WHO TRIED TO SELL HIS “O-----RIGINAL!!!” ANIME STRIP POKER ITEM 2 DAYS AGO… IT USED TO BE THAT I GET AN EMAIL ASKING IF THE ITEM THAT I WAS AUCTION IS THE ORIGINAL ITEM… NOW IT’S MORE LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE VIA “CANCELLED AUCTION”…

…but if your lucky, you might just get to sell your items before some “punk” ends it… that’s if you’re lucky…

Yeah, we could just re-list hentai related items in the mature section of eBay… that’s what they tell us to do, “you item is adult orientied, so it must be listed in the mature section of eBay”… but everyone knows that auctions of hentai related items in the mature section gets very litte exposure, and the auctions are likely to end unsuccessfully… without any bidders…

Just curious… has anyone had problems like this on eBay recently?

Just needed to show my fustration with eBay. Hmmmh, I need to get rid of these items… how about throwing them in the trash can?

Instead of throwing them in the trash can, you can give them to people who want them.

It’s not true that bootleg bishoujo games get sold. Auctions that sell illegal copies are closed are closed by dozens every week.

Perhaps the other hentai items just don’t have watchers.

Could be, but it could also be some difference in the laws on what can be sold how, remember, thankfully there is no universal law governing such things nor could there truly ever be with so many differences in cultures. However this also means that at times one side can sell something the other cannot, if I understand the law in this case correctly.

There’s just fewer people monitoring the UK side of things. I’ve complained about several bootleggers with no luck until I got actual companies to complain (a single person saying “Dammit, they’re selling pirated rips for money! STOP THAT!” gets completely ignored…)

Sadly, it’s easier to just report it as ‘porn’ than to report it as piracy. But I have moral objections to stopping the sale of porn, so I can’t do that.

(And now that I told ebay I moved to the UK, I am no longer allowed to ENTER the adult section. US only. Maybe that’s why they’re more lenient on international sellers, who can’t post in the right area? )

Ebay's attiude is extremely bizarre in the UK and the US. Adult stuff gets removed far more than obvious bootlegs, even dvds that are in most highstreet shops in the UK have been withdrawn by ebay. I don't understand this attitude at all. If they have the power to close auctions which contain blatently pirated items and don't close auctions that they are informed about, surely they could be leaving themselves open for lawsuits somewhere down the line.

See I think it is this, if they start to close down pirate auctions they will be expected to close down all such autions and that means they have to prove something is truly pirated in order to justify closing it down, and at times that can be very hard. It is one thing to know something is a particular way, it is often quite another to prove it.

On the other hand it is much easier to say this is adult and this is not, sometimes it’s judgement call, but it is easier to justify and prove with the age old cry of ‘think of the children’, which neither proves nor justifies anything, but that is another issue.

No the only reason they don’t cancel bootlegs is because its a huge part of their bussiness, and the fact that they can’t really "prove’ they are bootlegs. Im in the same boat as the original poster. I used to sell adult doujin on ebay. Last year they started cracking down on hentai, so theres not much you can do really. The “mature section” is almost impossible to get to unless you know how, ebay has seen to it. The theory as to why ebay has gone so crazy about this is because of their partnership with Disney. Oh and auctions only get canceled if people report them. I recently had an auction canceled that was NOT HENTAI. The word “hentai” was no where in the item description or anywhere, yet my auction was canceled due to the cover of the book, which had a character in a swimsuit ( No nudity at all, it wasn’t see thru or anything). Ebay really pisses me off royally now.

The worst part is, I usually only go to the effort of reporting people where there’s simply no way for the auction to be legal… like when the listing blatantly says “game is on a blank CD”. You’d think in these cases they could just go along with me.

I’m cheap, so I’m always on the lookout for legit used games, but it’s such a pain…

Yeap, you’re right… it’s definitely really hard to find your way to the mature section if you’ve never been there before and it’ll take a while to get there… even if you’ve been there before.

Here’s a tip for those who want to get there quickly (good luck!!) :

1) first login into your account.
2) look for and click on the “browse” button to get to the browse section.
3) look for and click on the “see all everything else” under the everything else cateagory.
4) look for the word “adult”, and click on it.
5) then look for the cateagory box that is embolded with the yellow color (next to the seach entry box). look for the “adult → everything else” cateagory and select it.
6) You don’t have to enter anything in the search entry box. Now, click the search button. It’ll automatically search a whole bunch items.
7) Then on the left-hand side of the page under the many “everything else” cateagories you’ll suddenly find the “Mature” category.
8) Click on it (“Mature”).
9) Now, you’ll have to login in (again) into the mature cateagory.
10) My advice is to use the SSL 128 secure login in… so if you want to, click on the “SSL secure 128 login in” botton; else you can skip the next step.
11) Once your mature login screen is SSL 128 secured… login in.
12) Read the mature rules if you want, click on “I agree”.
13) Then they show you 2 options: 1) go back to where you were browsing, 2) or go back to where trying to search for something. Click on the first choice.
14) Now you’ll have to redo some steps again… look for the “mature” cateagory on the left-hand side again, and click on it.
15) Waa-Laah!! You’re now finally inside the mature category!!

Woooh!, that was a lot hoops to jump through just to get there.

16) Type in ‘hentai’ and search too see if you find any items that you would like to bid on. Good luck!!

Now you can finally search for hentai items. :] Aaaahh… life is good.

Note for newbies, some of the items in the mature section are bootleg items unless they have the words describing that in fact are the original items being auctioned. And if you’re still not sure, you can always email them nicely, and they’ll be glad to let you know if it is.

**** Remember that this is a tip for those who are interested in hentai items being auctioned off it mature section but are unsure as to “how to get there” and “if those items are legit original items” due to their lack of item description (about the items being original items or bootleg items). Bootleg items are described as “comes in plain cds and sleeves, comes without box and manual, etc… something in the similiar fashion. ***

There you have it… some tips on getting to eBay’s mature section without going in circles for many minutes (like I did a few times just trying to find my way there). And tips on figuring out and bidding on original hentai items instead of bootlegs items.

Good luck finding your way to the forbidden mature section… and make sure you get out alive with your life… (humor)

If anyone knows a quicker direct way of getting there please do let me know.

Here’s one way, but it’s very indirect:
One of the quickest way is when searching for items… but it is a very indirect way of getting there compared to the direct way…

When you click on the “sellers other items for auction” tab (something like that, I’d forget, but you know the tab I’m refering to), and you see that the seller has some items listed as 'adult verification required” in the red italic font, click on it and you can login straight to the mature section screen (I’m pretty sure most of you know this already, but for the few who don’t… ). This way, you’ve jumped through fewer hoops to get there… but again, this is indirectly (meaning, you didn’t plan to go into the mature section until you saw the item being auctioned and wanted to find out what the item was, so you login-ed into the mature area).

If there’s a quicker way to get there, please let us know.

Thanks for reading this very long post.

try listing it in the mature audience section

I actually used to visit the Mature section before I moved out of the US and was therefore banned from it… did they ever get the blasted search engine to work? (ISTR it used to be that even if you could find the area, you couldn’t search it! So the only auctions you could find were the really spammy ones…)

I haven’t really tried out the adult section. I listed one doujin, it didn’t sell, and i gave up. It seems like the only people that look around the mature audience section are people who want airbrushed american p0rn sadly.

It is a nice way to have a ban without saying it is a ban. They can prevent pictures from those products going online, but perhaps not the product, so requring the pictures of the products to sell the products they can in effect ban the products. Not sure that made sense or what they are doing, but such tactics have been used before in other places.
