ELF games

is there a reason never se anyone translating ELF games anymore? I’d love to see [el} or Wordsworth translated and i’d pay tons of $$ for them.

heck even a non mutilated copy of dragon knight 3 or 4 (heck 2 or 1 fer that matter)
of course nothing could Top a “Dragon knight collection” release (but now i’m dreaming…) sigh

nevermind I was just reading a followup post to one of th “Brave Soul” topics that stated pretty much that ELF wasnt interested in the ?US market (GUESS they got screwed by Megatech) still it would seem to me that the company doing the translating is taking a much lager risk than the origional production company…

any RPG games are good i suppose, I just enjoyed dragon night and [el] and Yu-No so much that i cant believe theres no english market.

I found it interesting though that the Opening movie in Words Worth had english voice… If they don’t care about the english market why would they bother to do this??

Same reason why the OP of Slave Bazaar had those phrase in English across the screen....

It's considered unique and cool for them to do so.

Ah, Wordsworth… I’d trade my sole fot a copy… but i’m gonna hafta wait, 'cause there’s so many Peapri games i hafta buy first

anyhoo… i’ve become really tempted to dig up my old hex editor and try to fix the Kinghts of Xentar script to be closer to that of dragon knight… may as well change rolf back to Baan and try to get Dragon Knight back at the top of the screen (off topic i know… but hey I originated this thread so i should get some slack in deciding what can sneak by right? )

sorry for the typos in my last reply … been playing Tokimeki Check In for the last 4 or 5 hours… (my copy finnaly arrived today)

anyhoo I’m kinda loopy now :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah…your typos do not bother anyone. It is quite understandable for one who has been sitting for hours. Besides, I know what you feel…It also takes me 4 to 5 hours to play one game of Tokimeki

Returning back to the thread, it really pains me that Dragon knight: Knights of Xentar did not succeed in here. If it did, I am certain that Elf would have translated games, such as Words worth. What is worst is that games like Kakyusei and Dokyusei will never see the likes of the english market.

Anyway, my roommate has Words worth but will not let me play. He is such a tease; he kept on telling me that I should buy it. Unfortunately, it will probably cost me more than 140$…Oh, god…the horror…I am not even finish preordering all the Peapri games >_<

ouch! 140$ :frowning: I think himeya is selling it for 82$ (not that thats much better :stuck_out_tongue: )

right now 5$ is a stretch for me :stuck_out_tongue:

still I’m gonna beg one of my friends in japan to see if she can fiind it used somewhere for me

anyhoo back on topic… yeas I was bummed that Knights of Xentar didnt do well either … I didnt even really mind the kind of silly translation, it was still a great RPG. (I think it was th first game i actually bought (not counting the atari))

of course it didnt help thet megatech did a bunch of advertizing for “Dragon knight 3” and then had to change the name at the last minute , causing a delay in the release … or that companies that had already agreed to carry it started to demant that the ship a nr 13 version instead of the origional nc 17 (making them have to re-tool again (more delays))

still it was the only (sort of bishoujo) game I was ever able to just walk into the mall and buy instead of having to order through the mail…

anyway i’m rambling again so i’ll stop now.

It is 140$ because of the currency conversion. A peapri game cost roughly 55$. Not to mention, an American worker has a higher salary wage, so the time it takes me to accumulate the necessary amount of money is longer. This might seem paradoxical, if you refer to the information above, but I barely have any difficulties purchasing any translated games…well…it is true that a normal pc game cost relatively low compared to Peapri games. But, I do not need to tell you that an untranslated game is way higher than a translated game ^_^.

Anyway, if you ask me in the past if I am saddened by the fact that KoX did not sold well, I would have answered unhesitatingly no. Now, that’s the sad part

By the way, I am sure some of you have heard that there is a crew who were devoted to translating Dragon knight 4…However, at this moment, we could safely assume that they are currently sailing their ship on murky waters…I have not even heard from them for such a long time . This makes you appreciate Peapri’s resolve

American companies license products they think they will sell. And when those products do not sell, they blame it on the entire genre rather than their own stupidity for choosing that particular product in the first place. I was making a similar point a few months back in one of my rants back on the Himeya BBS (the one about the “Sakura Wars” OVAs). Sometimes I have to wonder at the wisdom of the companies’ decision making. I mean, Thousand Arms? Sure, it was entertaining enough, but even a naive outsider who doesn’t know much about the industry like me can easily see why the buying public won’t be interested in it. Even the Japanese buyers weren’t all that impressed by it, yet it still got translated and released? (Throws up his hands in exasperation) I mean, jeez…

(If anyone’s wondering why I haven’t put up a new “Rant of the Day” as I promised, it’s because the events of Sept. 11 derailed my train of thought and I’ve had trouble trying to get it back on track. And if there’s anything worse than one of my “inane, demented blitherings,” as someone once called them, it’s an incomplete one.)

Well…

Sakura Wars will possible translate by Working Designs for Sony Playstation 2. (according to EGM)

Working Designs may have good relationship with Sega (under Sakura Wars) before they did bring Shining Wisdom (Sonic Team under Sega) for Sega Saturn.

I read Playstation 2’s Sakura Wars is not coming out yet. I still think we will see DC’s Sakura Wars 4 or Sakura Wars Online after Playstation 2’s Sakura Wars will release.

Sakura Taisen 4 for DC will come out before March 2002 because Sega stops DC releases at this date.

It’s sad that Sega has such bad luck here in the US. I mean when Saturn was out… i didn’t even noticed it, i missed some great games that system had to offer (mainly Rayearth). Plus i loved Thousand Arms, when i heard that it was an rpg (rpg is my fav gendre), i bought it right away. It was sooo fun dating those girls, there were even hidden girls to date. It was also VERY FUNNY i was laughing at some of the thing that were said and what you could say (you get to pick). If there is a game out there that you can date and play in rpg style, you can garantee i’ll pick it up.

here here !!! more rhapsody games !!!
god i loved that game… ?I almost bought the ps2 sequel… (even though i dont have a ps2)

Working Designs and Sega aren’t friendly with each other any more, after the Saturn debacle, and with Sega shifting to software only, the chances of them allowing another company to port a game for a system are slim.

Although a pal of mine who’s friends with a guy who works for the US branch of Sega said there may be a chance of Sakura Wars to be ported over to the US, but it is a crap shoot.

Personally, I have hated most of WD’s translations, because of their localization, the Calgon reference in Vanguard Bandits was just too dated and exemplified what I cannot stand about Victor Ireland’s company, though their hearts are in the right place… sort of.

Ah well, back to playing Adam: the Double Factor.

Yeah, they omitted stories from the original plan to complete development by April. ;_;
Well as they said, "The game will be vertically short; horizontally vast."

They've mentioned sequels to Thousand Arms as well as doing newer titles like Growlanzer (THAT is the one they should be offering rather than their current projects!)

I have to agree there, Growlanser was such a great game. The only reason I bought a ps2 was for Growlanser 2. ^^
