Summer Girl

Could you give me your thoughts on these?

1) Cleavage. Unlike some, I like big breasts. My absolute first choice, by far. Yum, yum, yummy! Despite my being the first to list this this game so favorably, I'm sure you're aware of:

1) The success of an anime known as "Bible Black".

2) The intense speculation now that offerings are being placed for an anime known as "Discipline."

3) The repeatedly expressed desire for the licensing of the games for "Bible Black" and "Discipline."

Another reminder. As an example, the American anime community has often been condescending of some anime which have been huge hits, "Dragonball" for instance. Just because the hardcore fan-base thinks one thing, doesn't mean that the broader-based marketplace necessarily agrees.

Heh. And if you ever need an argument against the notion that bishojo gaming is all about loli, you have a licensed example to the contrary.

Far and away the title with the most income generating potential, provided you put the right advertisements on the right websites. this is the kind of title which has a significant chance to bring in new purchasers into the bishojo gaming market.

My purchase prospects: When can I pre-order? I will happily trample old ladies to get to the front of the line, and yes, I'll pay for FedEx next day delivery.

2) Hello Spring. Looks nice. The gals look fresh, and natural.

My purchase prospects: Very, very good.

3) Tie. Yu no Hana and Summer Girl both look nice, and rank close behind Hello Spring, from the graphic standpoint.

My purchase prospects: Very good.

5) A Distant 5th, "Death Meta." It just doesn't attract me the way that the first 4 I've listed.

My purchase prospects: Iffy.

Last, least, and, if you will, the anti-Cleavage on this list, "Yume Miru Kurusi (Dream Drug)." For the most part, the female characters in the first 5 examples actually look old enough to have sex (please note that I did qualify that statement). This game looks like every female character but one has been taken from grade school.

My purchase prospects: Slim and none, and Slim just left town. Never, nada, zilch, fugedhaboutit. Ick factor is off the chart.

All of the above is based on an examination of the graphics, as I've no idea as to how good the stories might be.

ok here’s what I’d like based on Graphics only…Story could swing me one way or another…

1.Death Meta
2.Yu no Hana
3.Summer Girl
4.Hello Spring
5.Dream Drug
6.Cleavage (if you consider it for Translating it better have a Crescendo calibre story… the art style turns me off, The large breasts don’t though )

My choices, in order;

1. Yume Miru Kurusi
2. Yu No Hana
3. Hello Spring
4. Cleavage ( at least the ladies arn’t underaged)
5. Death Meta
6. Summer girl (Seems too “same as usual” to me)

[This message has been edited by kmusky (edited 02-07-2006).]

Based purely on graphics:

1) Cleavage
2) Death Meta
3) Hello Spring (tie)
3) Summer Girl (tie)
5) Yu no Hana (tie)
5) Yume Miru Kurusi (Dream Drug) (tie)

I think if we get enough people to post, their preferences will make it a perfect tie.

BTW, if Peach Princess makes any of the games available, I’d buy them.

You're welcome, but keep in mind my little description is my personal opinion based on the CGs and babelfish translation. I don't know for sure if they are accurated or not.

As for CLEAVAGE, to tell the truth monstruous breast turn me off, too. But unfortunately i think sometimes we need some brainless bgames in the market to help the sellings to rise.

On top of that, i thought the CGs of this one are kinda matured, compared to the others.

And by the way, i was thinking... If i remember well, CLEAVAGE has an h-anime version as well, right? Any chance we can see Peapri releasing some h-animes, too? You know, that Play-the-game-and-watch-the-anime thing.

dream on~
....unless you want yours truly to do the dub voice acting for the girls :P

All look interesting… guess in order of preference it’d be something like:

1. Dream Drug
2. Yu No Hana / Summer Girl
3. Hello Spring
4. Death Meta
5. Cleavage (I like big breasts but it doesn’t seem to have much else going for it? Though seems like a typical GC title)

You know… if there’s something I don’t like about H-Anime’s it’d be the dubbing >_< Japanese with subtitles win every time.

Hell, Japanese H voice acting holds a higher standard than most english regular anime works.

**Shivers**

N-No, thanks!

EDIT:

But isn't subtitling an anime show a lot less expensive and easier to do than dubbing the same? You don't need to worry about hire voice-actors, too.

I mean, many h-anime shows nowadays are based on h-games, right? So if Peapri start to release these h-animes, i thought maybe many customers will buy the game because they saw the anime, or buy the anime because they played the game.

Heck, maybe Peapri could even release special packs with both - the anime and the game versions - in the same box! I know i would buy, for sure.

Anyway, that was just a crazy idea i got.

I’ll volunteer to voice!

I agree that Cleavage might turn out to be like X-Change - mocked and scorned among the hardcore otaku, but actually selling quite well to the general porn crowd. There are a lot of people in standard porn who love big pillowy boobs, after all.

From a business standpoint, if Cleavage is not extremely complicated to translate, I would probably publish it and balance it with something more arty to offer to the True Believers.

From an artistic standpoint, I’m so not interested.

However, I just finally got my copy of Ever 17, so I’m going to go disappear for a while.

i think 99% of all the anime released here is dubbed, no? for the market here, dub is prolly more of a requirement than subs, regardless of the dubbing quality

I vote for Hello Spring.

Hopefully since your looking into the next game to translate, that means perhaps PP is close to releasing a new game… Been awhile since I had a new game to buy !

Yep. Least for anime dub is about the only way to sell to an American market. Some companies like ADV have even tried to make more of a "spin" community wise by intentionally misinterpreting one of their latest licenses (Ghost Stories.) Kinda worked and kinda backfired at the same time.

Which goes to ask if you are a Kira Vincent-Davis quality dub artist???!! If you have that kinda range and talent, you gotta job....

O_O i dunno, i dont speak japanese i have to go by the pics. really, i like all of them BUT cleavage, i hate the big tit disease

Summer Girl

Could you give me your thoughts on these?

Me, I pick the following in this order for my preference:

1) Summer Girl (best looking CG designs in my opinion)
2) Death Meta (really want a bishoujo game with a story concerning the supernatural (fan of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night and not to mention Divi Dead)
3)tie between Hello Spring and Yu no Hana (mainly because I like the designs I've seen (though Hello Spring seems to have more girls which hopefully means more endings)
4) Cleavage (nice looking art (kinda resembles Bible Black's (the game)
5) Yume Miru Kurusi (last place due to lack of looks at characters and such)

One thing though, could you please give us at least a quick summary about what the stories for each game are about? (some of us can't read Japanese). Call me picky, but I pick what Bishoujo games I buy based on how good the story sounds

Yunohana is possibly best of the bunch, especially if you’re into winter games like Northwind, Kanon, Snow…

Yume Miru Kurusi should have rather intellectual story seeing it’s written by the same guy that did Cross Channel and Saihate No Ima.

Here are review scores from erogamescape
81 Yunohana
76 Deathmeta
76 Yume Miru Kurusi
74 Summer Girl
52 Cleavage

Edit: Looking at Hello Spring site, that game doesn’t even have release date set yet, in other words it might not come out that soon, so I wonder why are you considering translating it already. Looks cute though.

Thanks for the feedback, it’s very helpful. We’re planning on doing around four titles so hopefully those who don’t like the idea of Cleavage (I like it myself, although the name kinda sucks to the English ear) won’t have to worry about that being the only title we do.

Can someone with language skills please tell me what on earth Yumemiru Kusuri is about? Brief summaries of them all would be nice as well, but I'm really curious about that one, especially since some people seem to be reacting strongly to it...

An unremarkable male student basically bored of his life gets to know a few even-more-unremarkable female students. Add in the mix a-little-sister-who-love-her-oniichan and a kanbanmusume with a drug problem for an angst/pathos-filled story in the Japanese way: veeeryy slow (and somewhat short in lenght, to boot), full of Hamletic self-doubt (which conveniently justifies a few aberrant situations) and intrinsically, congenitally, incurably BORING (just my opinion, however ).
Heck, even Cleavage (simply a short and unexceptional sex romp where the male protagonist has a crush for boo.. err, both his big sister and his music teacher) seems better that this...

I am a huge fan of angst, but not of short angst. If it’s all school-based and no unusual elements (fantasy, horror, scifi, etc) then I’m less interested and would probably wait on reviews.

(In fact, I’d take an angsty game with no sex over a perky sex romp any day! But that’s just me. Pardon me, must get back to playing Ever 17 now. happy sparkles)

I fail to see how opinions based only on graphics are useful. ¬_¬

Sure, bishoujo games are about art too, but still…
