Games that get you emotional?

Hey everyone. I’ve been taking a break from gaming for a while, but I put in Crescendo tonight and was playing through some of my favorite parts of it. I was going through Yuka’s story, near the beginning, when they have the flash back with the gym teacher.

I think it was a mix of the sadness Yuka conveys, along with the soft easy piano chiming in the background, but it got my eyes wet right quick.

Some of the other games I get emotional in ar Come See Me Tonight, and Tokimeki Check In, I’m a sucker for romance. Of course it only happens on my first time through, or if I’ve left a game for a while and came back to it, and it’s not fresh in my mind.

So what games get your emotions going? Which particular girls?

I’m only posting this because it’s been kind of dead here, and I wanted to stir up a little discussion on the games that are currently out, since none of the new announcements really look good to me.

I cried and cried after I finished Kana the first time… That story hit home for me, mainly because I have a little sister around Kana’s age and thinking about her possibly having to go through all that… yea tears galore for me.

Crescendo and Kana these are the best game i ever played – and i cried a lot ^^

I’d like to add:

 • Gin Iro (Sagiri)
 • Narcissu (Setsumi)

Man i have to be the most hopeless romantic guy ever
I crie for every good ending i get in every game i have
No not realy, but Cresendo got to me and like you Billy come see me tonight too.
I especialy like the ending with Kyoko, Kaori

You just made me realize that there MAY be indeed a route thast I haven't taken in Crescendo myself either...

Hihi sorry for that m(_ _)m

Heh, I’ve gotten more emotional about Season of the Sakura (total old school I know – ack, it’s ten years old!). Reiko, Kiyomi, but of course the Rei clone.

Don’t even get me started with Season of the Sakura… that was my first game I ever bought and it will always be my number one favorite. The stroyline, the length, the cultural value, the romance, the atmosphere, it was all just so perfect for me… I only wish there was a game like it… (in english mind you… I swear someday I will learn Japanese, I’m already planning my trip to Japan, which I won’t be able to take for probably another two years!).

I’m a hopeless romantic, so many bgames got me emotional already.

KANA and CRESCENDO are obvious choices. (who wouldn’t??! ^^’)
PHANTOM OF INFERNO (specially Ein’s Route) evoked many emotion in me, too.
In DESIRE the True ending (Martina’s and ??? Scenarios) made me drop a tear or two. Before that, i almost cried in Makoto scenario, but for other reasons (God, i hate that scenario!! )
I liked CRITICAL POINT and SNOW DROP a lot, too.

I still need to play HOURGLASS OF SUMMER and any G-Col game from Angel Smile, but i’m pretty sure they will get me emotional too.

I know what you mean... I had to complaints about that one at first too. But the way how Makoto felt in the end about him also opened my eyes for the existence of the dark side (no, not the one of the FORCE! ).

Private Nurse: I can guarantee for it!

Heart de Roommate: I am not as sure about it in this regard, except ...

I’ll have to say Planetarian tops the list; that game made me cry more than once.

After that … Planescape: Torment, Kana, Heart de Roommate, Crescendo, Tsukihime, Nocturnal Illusions (believe it or not), XChange 1 made me want to go on a murderous rampage in that game’s world, Snow Drop, and probably others I’m forgetting at the moment. (Several games others mentioned would probably be here if I’d played them.)

Final Fantasy VII—oops! Hehe. You meant bishoujo games. ^^

Believe it or not, Gibo and Chain made me weepy. @@

Hmmmm... I sometimes wonder if Tifa and Aerith didn't give this game already enough of "bishoujo" for qualifying it for this category.

And I have to agree:
Aerith got me here close to the way, Kana did in another game that was never doubted to be "bishoujo"...

EDT.:
... and besides Aerith and Tifa, there was also Yuffie who attracted the lolicons!

Hmmmm… Do Yuna, Rikku and Payne from Final Fantasy X / X-2 fall into the category of “bishoujo”? If does, i think i will add FF-X and X-2 True endings to my “games that get me emotional” list.

I can get into most b-games if I get a chance to know the characters.

Creshendo esp did make an impact, except the character I got into the most (the school nurse), the age difference was too great that it seemed a little implausible.

I haven’t played all of Kana, and (by listening to other people’s reactions) I get the feeling that its effect wears down as the game goes on, but a few scenes in the beginning tugged at me … the way she would be searching for me with those eyes. A gf of mine had eyes like that, and they always really struck me in that way.

Here’s maybe a sad confession, but in one of the first b-game I played (Horny Bunnies), I even felt a touch of emotion near the end of the Sae route (the cousin) … which is funny because that’s one of the most superficial h-games there is, and I still fell for it (not a lot, certainly not the most, but still some). Guess it says something about how willing I am to let my emotions get caught up in these games if I let them.

Omgawd, you're absolutely right! It just might qualify as one kick-ass bishoujo game.

Ooh, was just able to watch Final Fantasy Advent Childern. That made me weepy. And I think it's marketed more towards the existing FF7 fans because as a standalone, it might come across pretty weak. (I never really liked Yuffie when I was playing it, but I absolutely adored her in Advent Children.) Must collect the US DVD also so I could get more freebies. (Who knows? The US version might have something that the Japanese DVD bundle did not have.) Hehe.

Yeah. Even though i never played the game, i watched and liked very much, too.

My only complain is at the ending…

Cloud needs to stop chasing ghosts and get a real girl as girlfriend for a change.

Specially some cute childhood friend who’s allways close to him, taking care of his business and the orfans at his side and can kick ass. (Hint, Hint)

Kana: Little Sister, Figures of Happiness, and Private Nurse just arrived, so I believe in due time I will have a few more emotional moments.

Have fun playing these ^^
