Happy Thanks Giving

The whole discussion in the last month proved to me most of you are a mass of selfish. So what count to me is what i think, and not what you think. You lose.

As Santa Claus said to the lamb, Happy Xmas!!!

And the lamb…

Was that insult really necessary, Italicus?

Why? Selfish is for italian egoista, and it’s not an insult. A person looking only for his own interest.

And regarding the lamb: please understand that Xmas is not an happy time for everyone, so if someone curses it, accept it and don’t step on his foot.

Accusing someone of being selfish is an insult.

This is valid EVEN here in Italy, Italicus. If you don't know good manners, don't use bad excuses.

And this IS an insult.

It occurred to me that if you said that to an economist, he would agree.

I would too actually. I don't try to hide it.

Italicus, almost any anti-piracy measure is going to exclude someone. This one excludes people without a flat rate Internet service. Typical Securom protection excludes people without a compatitible CD-ROM drive. All disc protection methods exclude people with violent little brothers that destroy everything they touch, necessitating back-ups.

I look out for my own interests, yes. Do I do so to the exclusion of all others? No. I don’t like being called selfish, however I’ve learned by now not to take umbrage at your (to me) obnoxious manner. That’s just the way you are it seems…

The last month discussions forced me to reflect on what is selfish and what is not, Baldo. And yes, i concluded all of us italians are selfish people. How can you justify otherwise Lega, Berlusconi ( where in the western world a prime minister proclaimed himself proud to not have the sense of the State? ), the Mezzogiorno and all of the s**t that happens in Italy? Heck we are the only western nation that was divided into small states for over a millenium!!! Still today, almost all of us can’t look far away from their Town tower…
So don’t even try to pinch on my nose because we italian are that way, and don’t try to deny it.

And anyway, i’m tired to defend others’ interest being falmed at every step. Tied with others, hanged with others. From now on, i’ll mind only to my business and interest.

@ Dark Shiki

"Let your word be “yes yes” and “no no”. The more comes from the devil."

I’m honest, and i say rounded to the rounded and squared to the squared. If truth hurts, i can’t help it. And at this point i’ve realized that to take round and round with this kind of people is useless. So… Everyone helps himself, and may heaven help everyone.

This is a Forum for b-gamers, therefore I'm not interested in lenghty political/historical/moralistic debates. I will give you 2 advices only:
1) Study hard your history books, because the reasons for Italy's long fragmentation are mostly a direct consequence of the meddling of external "Big Powers" (two classical examples are France and the Papacy).
2) Selfish people are everywhere, not only in Italy. And I don't know if speaking with disdain of your own compatriots (and in the presence of foreigners, too!) is an evil or stupid thing (maybe both of them).

i really dont understand how what was initially a thanksgiving post has (again?) changed to a heated-fight (starting to turn to flames) over various sensitive subjects…

guys, come on…

Yeah yeah like all of us you blame the others… The first part ( the longest one ) was marked by provincialism, pure and simple missing of political willing to reunification.
As a matter of fact, foreign influence only cristalized a pre-esisting situation.
And who was the one speaking bad of us italians when you for first painted your compatriots as a bunch of pirates on this forum?

Anyway, Lamuness-sama is right. I will - for me - close the topic here.

Thanksgiving? No such thing here in Norway, I think. We have a word for it though: H√∏sttakkefest (Autumn-thanking-party/celebration).

I asked my dad about it; he says it was celebrated by farming communities at least up until the late sixties, when he stopped living with his grandparents at their farm. It's not celebrated (or even mentioned) in the cities, and my dad is unsure as to whether or not it is still celebrated on the countryside. I doubt it.

As for local harvesting festivals, the only celebration I'm doing is watching anime while eating a bag of potatochips I "harvested" at the supermarket

Hahah boy did this thread turn tangent quickly, even without my help The only thing bad about thanksgiving is the day after and your stomach is revolting against what you ate the night before
