Has anyone had this problem?

I just got Viper V16 and snow drop. Snow drop runs fine but when I put the cd in for Viper v16 I get the Blue screen of death. Any time I try to run it the blue screen pops up and i don’t have a clue how to fix it. If you have happened to get this problem and know a fix or something i would be very appriciative if you could post it.

Thanks

I am not even able to install the game. As soon as I put the cd in and the drive starts to read it the “Blue Error Screen” pops up. I used my portable cd burner to check to make sure my cd drive wasn’t the problem but it sill did the same thing.

I also disabled autorun and tried to open it up manually but not luck.

My system
Athlon 600mhz
256 mb ram
geforce 2 w/ 64mb ram
my os is Windows 98 SE

thanks for the info

There are several types of BSOD. Which particular one do you get? The one that needs a cold reboot? Or the one that one press next/continue and keeps going? My suggestion is to try on another computer (I mean, another computer with another CD-ROM). If you don’t have access to another, right now try the following. Boot to DOS with DOS CD-ROM drivers (Win98 installation CD is CD-Bootable), and check the CD again, if it can be read. If you get a 101 error, most probably the CD has some sort of error. (assuming, that is, that your CD-ROM does read another CD)

I had a weird problem with V16 as well. When I had the “imagine” CD in my drive I manually ejected it and inserted the “rise” CD. When the CD Drive was done and started reading the “rise” CD, It still recognized the disc as the “imagine” CD. Your computer might still be recognizing the Snow Drop CD. When your files don’t match up, it gives you the BSOD (Blue screen-o-death). I solved this problem by going into windows explorer and right-clicking on my CD drive. Choose “eject” in the option box that appears. That should clear the information on the other CD. Insert the Viper V16 disc and hopefully it will autorun (if not double-click on the file
"V16.exe")

Also, you might want to get the latest BIOS for your motherboard and the latest VIA 4in1 drivers. These might help a couple of issues.

You can get the latest VIA 4in1 drivers here:

http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/4in1/4in1434v.zip

**Pease note that these Drivers are for The VIA Chipset which AMD ATHLON Processors utilize. If you use an INTEL or any other companies processor please DO NOT download these drivers!
