Have you ever been a member of a wedding party?

Last week was the wedding of one of my best friends. Ever since I got home from it after performing my duties as a groomsman, I’ve been curious how many of you other forum members have also had duties to perform at a wedding other than your own (if you are married of course). Since the forum has been kind of slow lately, I figured I’d just go ahead and make this thread. As for myself, I have had duties at all four weddings I’ve been to thus far. The first was my aunt and uncle’s wedding, where I was the ring bearer. The second was my mother and step-father’s wedding, where I gave away my mother instead of my grandfather. The third was my cousin’s wedding, where officially I was an usher (though what I ended up being tasked with wasn’t really ushering). Lastly is the most recent wedding of my friend, where I was a groomsman, as I already stated (I may put up altered pictures later). So how about the rest of you?

I was a flower girl when I was reeaaaaaaaaaally little!

I was a groomsmen in a themeded wedding earlier this summer. Dressed up as a Shinsengumi

I’ve been a groomsman. Been a groom, too. The latter’s better.

That sounds like lots of fun. The wedding wouldn’t happen to be for one Souya-sensei underneath the snow sakura would it?
Joking aside, I am one of those odd guys who has thought extensively about what kind of a wedding I would want if I were to ever get married. (I somewhat jokingly say that won’t happen until I either meet someone while living in Hawaii or Japan.) That being a traditional Shinto-style wedding for the actual ceremony, followed by a western-ish reception after. This would all occur during the blooming of the sakura of course.
At my friend’s wedding, he was going for a gangster theme (think The Purple Gang, Capone, etc.), though oddly the time period they wanted was the 40s. We even used props such as modified non-functioning airsoft Thompsons, and (working) airsoft Colt 1911s.

As promised, I now have a picture for you guys to see.

Been to several - American and Japanese. Generally speaking, I find weddings to be boring, and don’t attend them anymore.

I’d rather be playing eroge. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was my cousins best man. I got to read a poem and hand people some rings. Fairly uneventful wedding, but that’s the way I like them.

Come on Narg, maybe that special twinset will be on the next wedding

As for me being part of a wedding party, well that has never happened.

But they are always fun to attend since I almost always score on weddings  maybe it’'s the combination of booze and bridesmaids?

Which of the black boxes are you?

Starting from the left and going right, I’m the second one. That is to say, I’m the one in a red vest with dual Colt 1911s in shoulder holsters. Since I’m somewhat of a “gun guy” as some people would put it (in fact, the first handgun I received was a 1911 type), there is an extra bit of accuracy in the way I’m carrying those 1911s: they are in the holsters in what is called a “Condition 1” state of readiness.
Here’s an extra bit of info: except for the guy on the very left, you’re seeing the majority of the PnP RPG group I’m in (the guy on the left used to play with us, and may be joining us again starting next year). Lastly, I’ve grown so fond of the hat I bought for the wedding, that I frequently wear it when I’m out now, instead of the boonie hat I usually wore before. Only recently did I realize that this sort of makes me look like Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw of Zero Punctuation reviews.

Nice, I would go to any wedding that would let me use a pair of colts, and that hat is indeed nice as well Kimuzukashii 8)

Thank you for the compliment Nintakaru. I get to reprise my role as the dual colt carrying guy near the end of next month, as I’ve been called on to be part of the wedding party for the wedding of the guy at the far right of the picture.

Cool. Have fun.

I’ve been in several weddings. Ring carrier, groomsman, usher, groom. They’ve all been fairly boring, normal wedding sort of events.
