Have you ever considerated if the old bgame companies

… like MEGATECH, OTAKU PUBLISHING, MILKYHOUSE and such had never closed their doors (that is, supposing they made profit enough to keep their bussiness running)?
Let’s suppose they did, and kept releasing bgames from the same companies over and over again:

*Knights of Xentar (Dragon Knight 3), from ELF-Co
*Cobra Mission - dunno what’s the original company who published this one ^^’
*Metal & Lace (Ningyou Tsukai), from FOREST
*Power Dolls, from KOBADO

What bgames they COULD to have translated…
… from ELF-Co (a big name in the bishoujo game market):
*Dragon Knight 4
*Dokyuusei 1 (acclaimed one of the best bgames ever) & 2 (another acclaimed one of the best bgames ever)
*Kakyuusei 1 (yet another acclaimed one) & 2
*WORDS WORTH (3D RPG)
*Isaku
*Kisaku
*Syuusaku
*Koihime

*Dorei Kaigo
*Aishimai
*Aishimai Tsubomi
*Flutter of Birds 1 & 2
*Itoshi No Kotodama
*and others

… from FOREST
*Metal & Lace 2 (don’t know any more ^^’)

… from KOBADO
*POWER DOLLS 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

OTAKU PUBLISHING
================
What bgames they translated:
*Paradise Heights (Here is Haruenko) 1 & 2, from FOSTER-Co
*True Love, from PARSLEY-Co

What they COULD to have translated…
… From FOSTER-Co:
*Paradise Heights 3
*Hana no Kyoku 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7
*Mania na Onna 1 & 2
*Calendar Girl
*and others

…From PARSLEY-Co:

*Phantom Knight 1, 2 & 3 (Action-RPG)
*Sonic Princess (Action-Shooting)
*and others

… from ZYX:
*G-Collections are translating bgames from this company now. So no point in list here. ^^

RCA/MILKYHOUSE

======
What bgames they translated:
*Eve Burst Error, from CS’WARE
*Adam The Double Factor,
*Desire,
*Divi-Dead,
*Immoral Studies 1&2, from SCOOP

What they COULD to have translated…
… from CS’WARE (they closed their doors, but still released many bgames before that)
*Heart & Blade
*Vist
*Luv Wave
*Paralel Harmony
*EVE The Lost One
*EVE Zero
*EVE The Fatal Atraction
*Chikkyuu No Heiwa O Ma Vol.1,2,3
*and others

… from SCOOP:
*Yuuwaku 1 & 2
*Chaos Queen RYOKO 1, 2, 3, 4
*Chaos Baby YOSHIMI 1, 2, 3
*and others

What’s my point? Well, look how much we lost. And not just the quantity, many of these bgames are high-quality games, some of them even acclaimed the best bgames ever released. If the piracy is to blame because they lowered their profits forcing them to close their doors prematurely, so now i hate the piracy more than ever! (-V-)

atleast some of the above can be enjoyed in anime form…not really the same, but better than nothing

But they COULD to be enjoyed in both the forms... in anime AND game form. That's my point.

I say blame it on Bill Gates instead. Rember the time the DOS games could have been translated to English was the time Windows had just came out thus the bottom dropped out the gaming market. Also at that time the 3D video cards were starting to come out alse killing intrest in umm 2D games. No matter what breast size is it is still 2D.

I prefer to blame Bill Gates TOO! You have a point, but even so i think some very famous BGames, like Dragon Knight 4, Words Worth, Dokyu/Kakyu and Yu-No, could to have changed the entire western bishoujo game market nowadays if they were released that time... exacty because that was the time when the PC gaming was changing and raising.

i dunno if it’s really Gates’ fault
the real change in the ‘standard’(bleh) for games was with Wolfenstein3d and Doom, which ran on dos still

I still wish I could get game companies to talk to me and release the rights to the older (256-color) games… if they can provide art and a script I can get it translated and plug it into an engine! Think of all the games we could have!

But alas.

It’s sad that the market wasn’t ready at the time…

Yeah… it’s very sad. But for what reason you guys think the market was not ready that time?

I mean, considerating the best bgames ever made (Dokyuu/Kakyuu, Yu-No, To Heart, TriHeart, Princess Maker, etc.) were made exactly in that time, why the western market just decided to avoid such great games?

Anime wasn’t very popular in the West then. I definitely think the demand for anime and b-games are tightly linked, since b-games and anime share very similar styles of both graphics and storytelling. I don’t think one can appreciate H-games as more than porn if one can’t appreciate anime. The reverse is not necessarily true, though.

The perception of anime as cartoon, cartoon as show for kids has hurt anime for years in the west… It’s really no wonder most people who don’t understand anime can be anything from kid shows to high drama, wouldn’t understand anime style women in little to no clothes to be more than porn (& normally in their eyes horrible porn since cartoon == for kids and ‘cartoon’ naked women must therefor be naked women aimed at kids…)

Btw I rmeember wanting to buy metal & lace way back when… It was even sold locally in actual stores which amazed me… Never did get the chance though, didn’t ahve the money til the store that carried it stopped selling software…

I think you're a bit off the mark there. I don't think people would consider Simpson's porn (a classic example ) or even Jetson's porn (my eyes! my eyes!) to be aimed at kids. Aimed at perverted weirdos, yes, but not kids.

BTW, you can thank me later for those wonderful mental images.

Wow. I remember MegaTech. They bought these incredible 1 and 2 page color ads in the gaming magazines I used to read. (Still subscribe to some of those magazine, actually.) I think I’ll go see if I can dig up a scan or two.

Me want demo!

Me want the full game!

Did you here that? I believe we have some souls up for the taking. (But who will get there first?).

*sigh*... somebody better get on the ball and release that state-side! Hopefully uncut, i'd love to see Kirara's scene...

Lolikon!!

Yeah, you have a point.

But do you know what i think is really disturbing?
We all know there’s a lot of h-scenes censored from the original, like the loli-h-scenes with Kirara and Misako. What if there’s some yaoi-h-scenes with that gay character censored from the original, too? (((@(.)@))) shivers

By the way. If you really want to buy this game, try to make a request to Himeya.

It did have a screenshot, looked overall like the same game, but with new characters.

New characters?
I thought it was supposed to be the continuation of the first. The credits did say "To Be Continued...".

No, it's not a sequel. It's a renewed version of the same game. The translation of the original HP says:

That 'May Club' was 'DX' and it came back.
- Character complete voice re-collection.
- All CG renewal.
- New character addition.

Check here and here to see what i'm talking about.

Uoooopss… sorry. My mistake.

True Love II? You don’t mean… True Love Select?

But according the PARSLEY’s WP, that’s a CD with some extras, like goods or mini-games (the ETC part), not a ADV+STG game like the original TRUE LOVE game.

I don’t think TRUE LOVE has a real sequel, unfortunatelly.

Wow! I coudn’t to find a thing about a TRUE LOVE sequel in any place. Are you sure that’s not just a bgame from other company with a similar tittle? (o.o)
