So here’s a question for ya’ll old schoolers who still visit the forums…

Have your tastes in eroge changed over the decade(s)?

For example I used to be a MASSIVE horn dog for twincest, violent eroge (especially with ahego), and heroines who hide their eyes behind hair.

Today I’ve mellowed out. I still love twincest, violent eroge, and heroines how hide their eyes behind hair… but now I inexplicably find myself enjoying oppai loli, NTR, and MILF themed titles.

It just suddenly dawned on me my interests expanded into fetishes I never thought I’d find myself getting into. I suppose my weekly therapy sessions are failing… :wink:

Anyone else?

I remember you gradually getting burned out on those things. I also remember your “twincest is best” thread full of nothing but hawt twins.

As for me, I don’t think my tastes have changed as much as my bar has been raised. I recently went back and played Come See Me Tonight again; a big mistake. I know I liked it once upon a time. And I remember playing CSMT2, years later,and finding it a big step down from the original, with blander characters and fairly perfunctory writing.

Lo and behold, I replay the original only to find out no, the two games are actually very comparable. CSMT just isn’t very good at all. Its characters are paper thin. The writing is lazy and not thought through. MC-kun’s parents light out for the timber, and just abandon him - he gets home to find out the locks have been changed and gets a note - and this is used … as an excuse to move in with his conveniently-available aunt and her three hot daughters. He angsts about it for about five minutes, then it’s basically never brought up again.

I’d just been remembering it differently because in 2003, there weren’t a lot of better games in English to compare it to. Time marches on, and the bar gets raised, and it gets harder and harder to go back.

On an unrelated note, whatever happened to Sol Invictus?

Well, I mostly like well drawn games,but my only fetishes if they could be called that are monstergirls and hypnosis. Also,ever since playing Ark and subnautica im really interested in ocean themed games but all I know of that fit is Albatross koukairoku,but after trying the demo that games way above my level. I wish there were more.

I haven’t been playing nearly as long as you guys, but I have occasionally been surprised when I got into something I didn’t think would appeal to me. Specifically, I bought the Gibo / Hitomi physical double-pack when it was on sale and I was bored. Both of those games star a manipulative asshole of a protagonist playing the “dom” to some really unfortunate girls with “sub” traits. While I wouldn’t act like that to another real human being in a million years, as a purely fictional thing, I found that kind of manipulation/control interaction to be a surprising turn-on. I have yet to play Virgin Roster or Tsuki~Possession because (as I understand it) those are supposed to take the domination thing to a level of cruelty that might cross a personal line, but then again, “never say never” might apply…

Ha! Also, as a related-unrelated, I should mention that back when I was trying to archive some of the old forum back when we thought it was about to permanently go up in smoke, I discovered that “Twincest is Best!” was the single longest single thread on the old JAST forum… probably by a factor of 10. I don’t know if you should be proud or not, Narg, but it is an achievement of some sort. LOL

My tastes really haven’t had a chance to evolve, since unfortunately I’ve had to have my computer in a public area of the house for many years now. Having family be accepting of the fact that I enjoy eroge is one thing, but having the possibility of them being able to see you play is awkward, to say the least. It wasn’t quite so bad before my step-father retired, since before I could play when people were asleep. However, since he retired, he frequently is awake at the same late hours I am. My grandparents moving in with us a few years ago further complicated matters. It’s just my grandma now (my grandfather passed away about a year ago), but the house is still kind of a disaster. This is compounded by the fact that my grandma is a borderline horder, and as such it has been hard to get her to let go of stuff (though thankfully this has improved somewhat). Until I can get my room in a state that I can really use it again (which I REALLY want so I can finally have a full sim cockpit setup), or I buy something like a Surface Pro, I don’t see myself getting the chance to enjoy any eroge unfortunately.

A lot actually, but then a bit of this and that happened, and it got locked down because of $$$.

Though in all seriousness, I'll probably PM you about it sometime soon. Not something I can really talk about in the open.

LoL... looking back on it, that thread almost lasted a decade.
It's just absolute proof that the power of twincest is unstoppable awesome. :)

Yup. That’s the one. I’ll have something interesting in a few months. Dotting a few “i” and crossing a few “t” - but what I have in store is actually finished. Just a few loose ends before I can go public.
