Saw this on the Mangagamer ad posted in another thread decided to check them out. All games currently listed are from a company called Underlip and all of them have a trial version. Sadly looks likes none of the games have been priced yet and their is no current release dates. DRM is a exact copy from mangagamer.

Downloading one of the trial versions at the moment. I’m curious about why Underlip has done this - they don’t seem to be an active company, as they haven’t updated their website in over a year. Their entire catalogue is already on dlsite, but even so it’s still a bit strange.

Edit: Finished the ‘Teacher’s in class gang Rape’ trial. The translation isn’t particularly good and in places is rather dire - at best you could say that it’s tolerable but it’s still a long way off what I’d consider to be acceptable. However, the biggest problem with the game appears to be length - I saw 5 out of the 15 CGs the game has in the trial (the CG and scene galleries can be accessed in the trial), which was extremely short, so the full game could probably be cleared in under an hour. It’s being sold for 2100 yen on prodlsite (probably a bit too much for the amount of content it has), so I wonder how much they’ll charge for the translated version.

Edit 2: After seeing some of the samples from the other games over irc, it looks like the teacher gang rape one has by far the best translation. Sex and Friend features lines like ‘and became a very hard dick get into her deeply’ ‘My juice is much more produced’ and ‘So exciting, my heart almost come out from my mouse but takes time a little.’ etc.

Very strange indeed. It’s almost like the site itself hasn’t fully launched. You can’t sign up or do anything other then download the trials. I am thinking they are using this company as a cheap filler at this moment. Atleast I hope so, because launching with this lineup is going to hurt.

I just hope they have deals with more than just this one company and also that they have competent translators and, hopefully, editors.

lol… what is this? A company formed by all the people MangaGamers fired. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m downloading all the trials so i’ll see if i can extract anything.

I’ll also check to see how the text is…

Especially what with naming themselves in the fine tradition of warez of all types. Did they know that’s what the “z” thing means, or were they just trying to be hip?

hmmm ok

I like them more then Mangagamer so far.

Installation file + desktop icons
On every trial so far

Already an improvement!

edit:
Extracted

all 3 titles uncensored

checking text now

Edit again - Nurse Call Fuck text
Hmm, Mangagamer style but not as bad
In the first 15 boxes I saw 2 missing words and 1 sentence that could use a change ( although not required, I just think theirs a better word then what they chose ).
But it all sounded like proper English so that’s a start.

Edit again - Sex and Friend text
This one was bad…

This one really needs to be edited.

Edit again - Teacher’s in class gang rape text
Hmmm an improvement over Mangagamer here.
Instead of getting (The sound of the school bell) they actually wrote it in ‘Ding Dong Ding Dong, Ding Dong Ding Dong.’
So hopefully the sound effects will be kept during their games…

The titles were translated
Kurami-Sensei became Ms.Kurami

This one appears the be the best translated of the 3.
No odd sounding words, text flows properly.
They even seem to have tried to keep the characters personalities in their speech, instead of just translating it and not pairing it up properly ( Ms.Kurami speaks politely and the sentences show this )

Notes about all titles:
Title screens left the same, next to each choice ( e.g. start, load ect ) they have a translation.

Overall…
it seems just like Mangagamer.

You have titles that are very crappy.
And the rare title were effort was put in.

“We, at HgameZ.net, made exclusive contracts with major manufacturers of Bishoujo/Hentai games in Japan.”

I’m looking forward to that. So far all of their games look like average sex romps…

Is this another arm of MangaGamer (or one of its investors)? I’d wager that some of the same people are involved with both.

Underlip caught my attention earlier, if only because some ex-CD Bros. employees were involved. Most notably, JUN (Angel Smile) handled scenario, although these are clearly bite sized sex romps.

The brand is owned by views Corporation, which produces both eroge and console game software.

It looks a lot like the old Mangagamer website.
I’m pretty sure they are somehow connected.

Too bad that I’m not really interested in their titles.
All I want is a company which translates Alicesoft games.

So I hope the next website they found is Alicegamer.com

I’ll check them out. Will give my opinions. Both things as soon as I am free.

Can’t help but wonder if the new company and added titles for Mangagamer (possibly also Nitro+) has anything to do with the current legislation before the Diet. It may be forcing some more companies to look outside Japan for a market, even a small one, in light that with a limitation on sub-genres there will be more competition than before for those genres left.

That may be true… and in that case the new rules in eroge industry may after all be a blessing for english speaking eroge fans… what an irony…

Could be, also this could of been in the works for a few years with MangaGamer and was only coming to light in the last couple of days. From looking at the search function on the site I can say they are looking at pretty much everything that is about to be banned. If this isn’t a front for MG to deliver porn games. It seriously could be a safe haven for companies to re-release games with okay to crap translation and make some money while waiting for the day the ban is lifted in Japan.

Business deals between professional companies just don’t happen that fast, particularly in Peach Princess’s case. Formalizing contracts between companies takes time. I suspect negotiations with Nitroplus have been going on for at least several months, probably more like a year or two, judging from the hints Lamuness has been dropping. In Mangagamer’s case negotiations were likely to have gone quicker, but still, it’s not something that would happen in the matter of a few weeks. The reasons for Nitroplus and Navel seeking localization of their games are probably much more fundamental and long-term: Nitroplus makes action sci-fi games, a genre that typically appeals to Western gamers, while Navel’s Shuffle is well known in the Western anime community and would provide a good springboard into their other games.

The fact of the matter is that this eroge censoring scare is all fairly recent. The companies were as much caught by surprise as we were. Developers are still busy dealing with the direct implications of rather fuzzy rules on games currently in the pipeline; long-term and less immediate concerns such as forming new localization contracts are surely far from their minds right now.

But back to the new company…their titles don’t interest me in the slightest. It looks like the same poor quality fluff that’s all over DLSite. Translation doesn’t really add much value to that kind of game. It’s like translating your average hardcore ero doujinshi comic. Does seeing all the vulgar words in English really add anything to the experience?

Even if that’s the case (and in PP case I think you may be right), that recent eroge scare may very well have sped things up.

Well, they don’t seem to have survived very long. Their homepage looks very empty now.
If you look at the source of the page you get:

HgameZ.net

Well at least there is still a server there. Hm judging by the whois data

they were at least initially in there for the long howl. Still if this is only a
site rehaul, then it is a mightily strange one. Maybe they will relaunch soon or
die forever :?

It is kind of weird as it’s a page blanking, not a link failure or a “sorry we’re closed”. It’s hard to say if they might be around for a while, but announced their presence before they were really ready, got so many hits they can’t afford the bandwidth or are closing up shop for good.

Surely you’re joking, if they suffered from anything then from lack of attention.
