ICARUS PUBLISHING CANCELS ALL ERO MANGA TITLES, LAUNCHES NEW YAOI LINE
Colorado - April 1st, 2006 -
Specialty ero-manga licensor Icarus Publishing has decided to cancel all ero-manga publications and relinquish all current licenses. Instead, the re-energized publisher will now focus its attention towards Yaoi, gay-themed manga directed at female audiences.
“Ero-manga is dead to me,” declares publisher Simon Jones. “North American readers have shown absolutely no support for ero-manga. Typical male manga readers live in dank basements and steal their parents’ bandwidth to download porn or play Counter-Strike. They have no jobs and can barely afford their weekly ration of nachos and Mountain Dew, much less to buy manga legit. What the f%&! was I thinking.”
“Women readers are now the driving force behind manga in the U.S… For years we in the comics industry have conspired to keep the fairer sex out of our little club with poorly-lit stores and bad personal hygiene. But now women have infiltrated comics and book stores, covered them all in a fresh coat of pink paint and 20 gallons of Fabreeze, and are making their demands heard - and they are the sounds of young, tender man-flesh rubbing against each other.”

Icarus is currently still finalizing its license roster, but among the titles already confirmed are such Yaoi classics as “Knights of the Shining Shaft,” “Three Seme and an Uke,” and “Kanchoman - Legend of the Smelly Finger,” an Edo-period costume drama.
