Also, if you want to make an organized effort, let me know. I’ve forwarded this to the Bishoujo Gaming Reviewers Club, but I’m sure that the more people who at least email IGN about it, the more likely IGN would take the initiative and post reviews of these games.
I have asked IGN to do so. Now, adorable little Kumiko-chan would like for you to do so as well.
Remember support doesn’t mean just purchasing the game/merchandise, but to also let the market and others know about these games, so they can experience them as well.

Hmm, from reading the posts, it’s not really an “adult” forum for them. Their “For Men” stuff is a target audience kind of thing, focusing on who’s the hotest female celeb, cars, general mayhem, etc. The stuff “average” guys are interested in. Even going through their “For Men” links, there’s vague hints and innuendo but not much further. (Actually, I find myself strangely insulted by it all.)
I’m not saying we shouldn’t bug them but that we may need to work an “angle” on it. Otherwise, I have the strong suspicion they’re going to pull up and hide behind the “it contains nudity…we can’t show that!” stance.

I can’t belive the IGN forum administrators adopted the preconception that Bishoujo games are ‘crap Japanese porno games’ before they even played a few of them. It seems to be awfully hypocritical of them to ogle ‘Babes of the Day’ and adopt that kind of stance. I’m oft reminded of a photograph from an English photographer whose name eludes me, when he travelled around United States of America on a quest for the gun, only to find that ‘love and peace’ is very much uttered in the same sentence with the words ‘hate and war.’ This one photograph had a very deep impression of me:

Very disturbing. It’s very true, no joke. I’m going to see if I can still find the photos in the archive of some news website, I think I found it from ABC News.

I’m working on getting GameFAQ up-to-date with at least non-professional reviews of the bishoujo games they have listed there.
I’ll reask the BGRC members to start parrozzing through IGN as well.

I just tried following a few of the anime threads at IGN, my head hurts.
I also see how we have to be careful on how we go at it on their boards. They have a blanket clause against ‘objectionable content’ which is pretty much open to interpretation by the moderators (The way I read it, if the moderator finds “fish” objectionable, they can stop you from posting just for that). I’ll try to bounce something through about Graduation II and see how that plays out. That’s pretty low key enough of a game to be able to judge reactions to it.
And I really am getting an impression of immaturity there. I know you have to be at least 13 to be there but apparantly you don’t even have to be close to that in mental maturity…
Where’s the BBS for IGN? I thought you had to be an insider subscriber in order to post on it. I’d lend some strength with the power of my pen if I could find the posts somehow. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the subject of immaturity. It’s not even open to discussion for some people. What we need is a well constructed introduction to Bishoujo games as well as a strong rebuttal to those gamers who can’t get their head out of the gutter that H-scenes are a fact of life and it’s part of the ‘growing up’ in a Bishoujo game. Hopefully the rash of teen movies have helped to develop more open minds in the past few years.
