Irrelevance of the Day

(So sue me, I was BORED!)

I’m sure it has been mentioned somewhere around this board, but I’m too lazy to hunt through all who-knows-how-many posts to find it. And if it hasn’t, all the better…

My mind nearly went into vaporlock when I began playing word games in my head to kill some time and I knocked off one single kanji from Kumiko-san’s name. What I ended up with was “Miko Kamiyama”. I pretty much freaked…

I personally don’t have anything against Miko-chan, but her head-in-the-clouds personality sometimes has me hammering my head against the wall.

just like Kumi-chan from Tokimeki Checkin, so pay her due respect (otherwise, Kumiko will tell Miko-chan's father what you said... and you KNOW what will happen then! )

And tell him that Jeffrey call her "-chan"?
As for me, Miko-chan is my fav. Kakyuu chara., so... I even love you more, Kumiko-chan!
...though I know wonder if you're as out of touch with reality as your cousin... ^^;;;;

Hey! Don't you start now and ruin my chances before I've even begun!

It's been some time since I've last played Kakyuusei and even more since I've last seen the OVA. My fav chara's actually Mizuho (what can I say, I'm a sucker for her), with Miko coming in...third, I suppose, after Ai.

And, Kumiko-san, you can delete the locked thread in the non-adult forum, considering that it's here now. I'm sure I won't mind.

It's been years since I last played Kakyuusei (I played the DOS/V version...)... Saw the OVA in June and the TV series last year... You should watch the TV series, Jeffrey-kun...
My fav. are Miko-chan, then Mahoko-chan, then Mizuho-chan... A friend of mine fell in love with Miyuki-chan after watching the TV series... Instant love!

Ai? From Video Girl Ai?? Shy!? *head spinning* From my point of view, she's not THAT shy . Hmm... gotta watch the last part of Video Girl Ai this weekend...

Are we talking about the same Ai in here? (Methinks not, but what the heck…)

Errrr… Kumiko-chan and I were talking about Minamizato Ai from Kakyuusei… o_O’

Well, how would you call a girl who spends her date sat on the complete opposite side of the bench from the guy and freaks out whenever the guy goes nearer or asks something? ^_^

Not yet, but you can hope as Nutech said they would release most of Pink Pineapple works and Kakyuusei is one of them.

Errr, Kumiko-chan, you gave me doubt so I checked… and, as far as the DVDs are concerned, BOTH Kakyuusei series are released under the Pink Pineapple logo…
You can either just believe me, or checked at Pink Pineapple homepage DVD listings (http://www.pinkpineapple.co.jp/list/ka.html) or I can scan the DVD covers…
Also, I don’t think they did a DVD release of the 15+ LD version… ^^;;;;;

No need to scan, as I scanned them already. The links are:

The Pink Pineapple logo, as you may have noticed in the DVDs, is not present in the frontcover; it is, instead, in the backcover, barely noticeable. Yes, olf_le_fol is right, Kumiko-san, this IS a Pink Pineapple work.

Also, AFAIK, there is no 15+ DVD version, nor a DVD version of the Music Graffiti.

Errr… fxho-kun, it is written in clear on the cover (upper left corner):
Pink Pineapple
DVD
Series

And, BTW, It’s “olf_le_fol”. “olf”, like what you have when you take the first letter of each word: O . L . F . ^^;;;;;

On another matter, Kamiyama-san, do you mind us calling you “-chan” or should we call you “-san”?

(Banging my head to the wall. Fortunately it is not a brick wall...)

Ahem. Sorry for overlooking the obvious, and misspelling your name. Corrected the previous post.

Lets see, four ova, and a TV series(13-26 episodes), means about 17-30 discs at the currant way Nutech is doing their releases. I hope they sTart putting more then one half hour episode on each disc soon or I will run out of room for my DVDs in my cabinet.
Quick question:
Does Doukyuusei, Doukyuusei 2, Kakyuusei OVA, & Kakyuusei TV all take place in the same setting? I read that Doukyuusei means “classmates” and Kakyuusei mean “lower-classmates”, so I am wondering if both take place in the same school.

One fast question: Is there really a game titled Joukyuusei (“Upperclassmate”) out there? I’ve stumbled across the title (also by Elf, if memory serves) more than once, but I never managed to verify if it really existed or not–it’s even more elusive than “Sotsugyosei.” I often wonder if it’s simply a title and nothing more, much like “Doukyuusei 3.”

Kumiko should explain that Dave E has the LDs for all of Kakyuusei, both OVAs and TV (including OVA LD Box "Music Graffiti") as well as To Heart (which was done immediately after Kakyuusei TV) plus the CD soundtracks for all of them.

Alas, I only have the DVDs (I usually don't buy LDs my local shop doesn't carry, because shipping fees would kill me ), so I son't have the "Music Graffiti"... Is it good?

quote:

Kakyuusei was released under PinPai's label, yes... which is KSS's adult label. However, if you look at the CD soundtracks, Kakyuusei OVA CDs were released under their PinPai label, and TV was released under KSS. What happened is that Doukyuusei 2 and Kakyuusei OVAs were created at a time when KSS was beginning to try to make certain works less adult when they adapted them from the original adult games in order to open the broader market for these stories - after all, we all know that it's the stories that make these titles so popular, not the sex (which is just a natural part of the story, anyway.) Doukyuusei 2 OVAs began in 1997, Kakyuusei OVAs began in 1998, Kakyuusei TV and To Heart TV began in 1999. So there was quite a bit of market changing taking place over that length of time.

??? Perhaps it's me, but I don't understand something... First, are the LD Kakyuusei TV series released under KSS or PinPai's label? Second, if KSS wanted to open the market in '99, why are the Kakyuusei released under PinPai's label while "To Heart" was released under KSS label? Since both Kakyuusei series were released under PinPai's label, I still don't get either your 'Kakyuusei TV is KSS because it is non-adult, so they released it under their non-adult label.' previous statement, nor your present explanation... ?_?

quote:
Kumiko could also throw in Refrain Blue... although the original game features chara designs by Aya Kadoi (who also did Kakyuusei's designs) and is certainly adult, the anime OVAs are not adult... even though KSS released them under PinPai's label after finishing Kakyuusei.

BTW, how good are the "Refrain Blue" compared to the game? Are they of the level of the Pia H OVA (which I considered average) or of the Pia DX or Kakyuusei series (which I consider good; but that's just me )?

I only have one clip from Dave's former site, and I could tell you it IS good. (only from that clip). The character design though is somewhat pre-Kakyuusei TV, so some characters were drawn different. If you want that clip, and Dave doesn't mind, please email me. (Aprox. 2MB Real Video)

It goes this way: Everything from Kakyuusei OVA are under PinPai's label. Kakyuusei TV are under PinPai's label, too, but other merchandise, including audio CDs are under KSS' label. For instance, check the TV Animation Soundtrack http://ho.ho.net/kakyuusei/tv_animation_soundtrack.jpg , and it is under KSS' label. I think that PinPai and KSS made that decision to stay under PinPai label mainly because most fans knew what Kakyuusei was about, and, to the contrary of To Heart, it didn't had a non-H version. (Despite that there is no echiness in all Kakyuusei, except OVA 4, 15+ version)

I can't answer your question about Refrain Blue, I am still trying to get all Doukyuusei 2 DVDs!!! However, I will back your statement. Pia Carrot he Youkoso! 2DX and Kakyuusei ARE good. (IMO, PinPai's Pia Carrot is a bit above average only, though).
