Japanese translation software for import titles?

Heya, I was just curious if there are any translation software programs operating like Babelfish or Excite translate that can translate in-game Japanese text into something remotely understandable. I’m hoping for something that can operate off of a file script in the game’s directory and output the text into English in-game so it translates text while I play. If there isn’t something like that, is there something that can output English text from outside of game instead?

If anyone knows of anything then let me know, thanks =).

Heya thanks, I knew there was software out there that had to do something like that. As I expected though, they don’t seem to work with some of my games (either that or I’m doing something wrong). Do you think the software would work on BlackCyc’s title “Gore Screaming Show?” If not do you know of any other Japanese titles that would work?

Sorry, I own some Japanese B-games, but I never tried using any Text Hooker because its “instructions” seemed very complex and hard. I guess if you work hard, you can use it. But your enjoyment is surely prejudiced because of hardness.

I guess most of people prefer Anime Games Text Hooker over “Oh! Text Hooker”. Why don’t you take a look on AnimeSuki Forum below?

I have AGTH and it seems to work, now I just need a way to actually translate the text… any recommendations (such as freeware or sum such as I’d like to play offline)?

There exists offline standalone Japanese-to-English translation tools. They operate about as well as machine translation does – that is to say, not very – but they exist. I can’t say for sure since I don’t own one, but I can’t expect they have the same kind of activation checks that many games do. Not a lot of software has such protection on it – outside of games, it’s very rare.

You can cut and paste into babelfish and get at least some translation free…

For more detailed work, the japanese word processor JWPce has dictionaries built in, so that you can look up the meaning of a single kanji or search for a string of characters to see what words they match. When an auto-translator returns utter gobbledygook, you can often work out the vague meaning of a line from JWPce. It also has kanji-lookup tools to help you search for symbols you see on the screen but can’t cut and paste. And it’s free.

A much better online translator is the one at http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/ . Now you just copy/paste the hira/kana/kanji in the left box, click the ??? , and then click the ?? button and the translation will appear in the right box.
