JAST USA Re-launch Feedback

I said the old board. This one yeah, it’s tied to the Jast account system. But the old board had regulars who never started using this one.

@Nandemonai : We’ll probably send an email to invite the used of the old board to the newest one when it is ready. Thanks for the idea.

  1. Why does JAST need personal information, like my name and especially my full address, to claim digital product codes (or to make digital purchases)?
  2. Why was I expected to use my full, real name as a publicly revealed username in these forums?

You would think that this kind of website would be pretty respectful towards privacy. This is the most invasive that any site has been to access games from a Groupees bundle, from the bundle I'd least expect it from to boot.

Would it be possible to get a link to your game library at the top of the main site’s page, like where the Account link is? It took me absolutely forever to figure out how to get to it since it’s hidden away at the bottom of the page in a list.

And just from a usability standpoint, it might be convenient to give people a link to the Redeem A Code page from the game list page for the same reason, maybe underneath the list of what you have.

I mean it’s fine for me now that I know where they are, but I’m sure others will run into the same issues.

The "News and Announcements" section isn't up to date. I'd say list up to 6 entries on the main page with a more or older entries button to cover the rest. At least list events like title announcements, and major updates on games such as golden master, shipping, and patches as you did in the past.

Is there any particular reason why this entire messageboard is still inaccessible from JAST USA’s main website? You’d think there’d be more activity here if people visiting www.jastusa.com could actually find a link to this forum on the site’s front page, instead of looking up on Google just to find this place.

They'll soon roll out new forums to replace these, since users weren't terribly happy with these forums. They probably don't see much point to linking to these forums when they're about to be replaced.

I beta tested the new forums and I think most people will be happy with them. In addition, the old forums will be archived inside, so those discussions won't be lost.

@grgspunk: Yes, there is a reason. JAST Connect works pretty decently as a Q&A and HelpDesk but has a lot of design problems as a discussion forum. After getting enough community response saying so, JAST decided to create a new forum, which is going to pull the best features from the old forums (forums.jastusa.com) and JAST Connect and mix it together. (See here for more details.) I participated in the beta-test, and I think everyone is really going to like what they’ve done with the place.

But since JAST Connect is going away as a discussion forum*, there’s no need to publicize it on the eve of its retirement. There’s your answer!

(*I think that it’s not disappearing entirely, though – just keeping the HelpDesk part and moving the forum elsewhere. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on that, anyone…)
