Kanno died

http://www.abel-jp.com/kanno.html

Kanno Hiroyuki, writer of EVE, DESIRE, YU-NO, Mystereet and other games passed away due to a stroke on December 19.

With both him and Umemoto Ryuu (who passed away earlier this year) now gone, YU-NO stands out even more clearly as an unrepeatable feat in the eroge world- neither of the creators that evisaged this eroge and made it happen are still around.

Without Kanno, modern eroge would not be what it is today.

Does anyone know what’s going to happen to Abelsoft?

They also had a sequel to Mystereet announced a while back.

I feel saddened by the news.

That lack of people caring saddens me.

I got these in the mail today. The manuals are pretty cool

How much did all that cost, Fujifruit? I can’t imagine original YU-NO would come cheap and I’ve never even seen Filsnown in the original packaging.

Filsnown ~Hikari to Toki~, one of Leaf’s earliest games. It’s an RPG, a bona fide, dedicated JRPG probably mimicking (system-wise) DQ and FF to an extent few eroges do. It’s a very nostalgic, tile-based exploration, menu-based equipment etc management, DQ-like battles etc. I’d really like to make an RPG myself sometime, which is slightly more likely to happen than me making an eroge since I can’t draw nor really write.

Interesting thing about Filsnown, though? I like the art. That is interesting because I thought To Heart had kind of ordinary art and Shizuku had rubbish art and Kizuato had rubbish art and those all came after it- I really feel more care went into Filsnown’s, though.

It’s not just you. The art is pretty amazing! The shading REALLY is excellent.

The animation in the Op was really surprising, tbh.

I also found this neat looking game yesterday:

Edit:I found this wonderful site called http://www.suruga-ya.jp I believe Yu-no was about 4,000 yen and Filsnown was…I forget, but it was cheap.
Edit2: about 9430?+shipping
Edit3:Apparently Filsnown sold very poorly,surprisingly.
