Kanon

I saw the Japanese version of Kanon for PS2 on sale in one of the game shops here and I was just wondering… is it possible to play and gain some understanding of it even with limited Japanese knowledge?

I could probably get the gist from reading the kanji, but I’m still trying to decide whether to spring for it or not… has anyone here played it?

Thanks.

Thanks!

The setting kinda reminds me of Snow Drop…

There's quite a bit of dialogue in the game, so getting through it without a good understanding of the japanese language shouldn't be too big a problem.

if you've not played this game before, do try it -- especially before you watch the anime. the latter's only half as poignant.

Well,accrding to him,the anime is too over cheerful and cute compared to the original game.

Yuuichi,in the game,is a jerk who does not care about what’s going on around him nor how the girl is feeling especially towards Nayuki until the later part of the game as oppose to the over cheerful and kind version of the anime.

nah, won't call him a jerk in the game, but he's certainly not as cheerful as yuuichi in the anime. anyway, the anime's much better in the later half (13 episodes altogether). love the opening movie and theme song, tho.

yokota mamoru (Elysion) as producer for the anime...hmm...

I prefered the game… but then, aside from the game being sadder and allowing to concentrate on one girl’s story at a time, it’s true I already knew the stories when watching the TV series, thus losing the “discovery” effect… ^^;;;;;

You may not like Micky Mouse type character design, but the game’s music is great. You can even insert it in CD player for playback. If you buy the game for just music, it’s too expensive. So, you have to understand the texts to enjoy its story.

well the anime is always worse than its source material (whether its game or manga), that’s a given. However I think for people who haven’t experienced the game, the anime is very beautiful.

Not always. Nadesico is an exemple of such.
