You know… I’m watching several of the new Macross episodes, and they always like to put emphasis on Meltan/Zentran going into “zombie mode” when they hear music… and practically have a brain shutdown when they see a man and woman kiss. So why doesn’t UN Spacey just broadcast porn films during a battle with them? It would be more effective than a Macross Canon blast.

In any case, I find it amusing why Macross 7 hasn’t been released in the US…

Keith Burgess (representative for a major anime importer): “It would take all the anime companies working together to be able to afford to bring the series over to America”.

It’s so funny, it’s sad… because it’s true. :lol:

On a sidenote: Macross 7 reminds me how absurd male anime fans typically can be. Case in point: Mylene loves both men equally. In other anime, where a guy gets two girls to love him in the end, he’s suddenly cool and badass for having a harem. However when Mylene claims she’s willing to love two men equally, male otaku suddely cry that she’s selfish or immature. Some refuse to accept she can have both (Basara seems to be the most popular choice). :roll:

Macross Frontier has been licensed by someone, as cease and desist letters have been sent to a few fansub groups (even though… ya know… they’re done subbing it).

It’s really great news: the final episode, has one of the greatest mecha battles ever put to film. While I deeply hate Macross 7, Macross Frontier is ultimately made of win. 8)

I love how the Macross Attack and Minmei Attack remain effective ultimate weapons for UN Spacey, simply because no enemy that has experienced the assaults, ever lived to figure out a defense against them. Furthermore the whole Macross-class warship VS Macross-class warship is coolness to the extreme. Basically: Never screw with Deculture.

I’m glad that Big West aren’t being jerks about the licensing price tag. I guess that means whatever issues they had with Harmony Gold, are now to rest.

Now watch as the Macross VS Robotech flame wars begin.

heh, i guess they saw no one was going to pay their big price tag and lowered it somewhat, maybe also with some requirement to translate some other shows they couldn’t get sent out but wanted marketed. Who knows except them. Given the current tightening in the anime market for the primary overseas venue I’m surprised they came to a deal, unless it was on the $$$ isue.

Hmm well if it’s just the male otaku…but what about the female otaku? What do they say?

I’ve been out the fansub loop for a while and haven’t checked Macross Frontier, it would be great if it’s licensed, maybe we can get zero and 7 released too?

Scratch what I said about Macross Frontier.

The C&D letters came from Big West: seems the Harmony Gold issue is still preventing a release.

Big West is covering all their legal bases, since the case is still on going after all these years.

Robotech officially sucks for being the root cause of all this. :evil:

The obvious remedy is to license a show with Harmony Gold’s cooperation, but then there’s the problem that Big West probably won’t want to deal with them. To give you an idea of how much trouble this can potentially be, bear in mind that FASA folded up largely because of the costs incurred from their lawsuits against Harmony Gold.

The earlier mentioned quote from Keith Burgess is not about getting the license, it’s about fighting the court battle.

From here on out, I officially boycott Robotech and all it’s Japanese-copied incarnations.
