Merchandising

Sorry to say that but I’m not concern about the Merchandising Article.
I’m a intersted(in Artbooks) and if I had all the money I wish I would buy all you have. But I haven’t that much money. So I must chose what will I do with my money.
I live in Germany I have a Job,a car,a house and a girlfriend,so not that much money is left in my pocket. Then I buy the articels here in Germany, but Germany is in Anime, Games usw. a third wolrd land, except Manga they are good in sales. To speak from Adult games…nothing in Germany.
So I ordered it by Distributors all ofer the world, and I tell you it’s expensive, all in all, so I can’t buy the Merchandings you offer because they are not my primary objects(if I buy them I can’t buy the games I wish).

Sorry again R.

Not everyone likes Magical Girl, just because someone doesn’t like something that you like doesn’t mean that they are lame . America is not lame for not releasing Magical Girl TV anime . If you like it that much, go to Japan and live .

Better but just in some parts of Anime.
Bad in other parts.

Yes I will try to help you when it’s in my possibility. I know some dealers but the problem is, first markt for bishojo games is nearly as bad as by you and second problem is the strong dollar. The Dealer try to make some profits, that means when a game cost by you 50 dollars the game cost in Germany nearly 70 dollars.

But I try my best to help you( it’s good for me too…more new games)

Rammstein, I live in belgium and there is a online store in BE. Try www.archonia.com, it will cost you less, it can order straight from japan as well.

I can speak german too, if you have any question, e-mail to kurtjeuris@hotmail.com

Well, just wanted to say my part in the merchandise thing… Well, i don’t buy all that much merchandise, and when I do, it’s mostly things like T-shirts, washclots and wallpapers, but not much more…

Kumiko-san, as you have already mentioned several times, it is about demand. If people are more interested in other type of anime, what the studios are going to bring/license?

If 90% of the population wishes for more mecha anime and/or comedies, let it be! Concentrate on that niche market of those who wants bishoujo games/anime. Things eventually will turn around, but not because you force them to be the way you want it to be. Don't you remember when anime was once called "japanimation"?

Kumiko-san, I am sorry to say this three words: extremely biased opinion.

Nobody has written that PeaPri shouldn’t be on this business; anything but the contrary. (And, which, thanks to you, I have gotten the Kakyuusei trading cards). However, there are some facts that you know already: you are fighting an uphill battle, and you must think that each customer is an ally. While the vast majority of the population prefer other genres, let them enjoy it, that’s their choice. Don’t force the viewer/customer to share your opinion. Telling that other genres (anime in this case) aren’t worth the DVD they were mastered on does not make you (or the genre you are trying to promote) any better. Those who have an interest for the genre, even a small interest, will eventually find out, just like I did in my case.

Take the case of scf030 (in the Top Three 2001-12 thread). Though he has interest, even a small one, (to quote Bigdog) “Kumiko shot him down pretty harshly” just because he disagreed with you. And if he holds what he wrote, then one customer less. Is that what you want?

(On a side comment, Kumiko-san, could you, please, keep your post short? 4 out of 5, I skip your post just because of lenght. If you think it deserver such a long reply, I think it is time for you to make a FAQ.)

sigh I was kinda hesitating to post a reply… Seeing people disagree like gives me a headache. Anyway Kumiko-san doesn’t have to keep her posts short because she is explaining in detail. I’ve read that entire thread just now (Top Three 2001-12) and i just think that basicly scf030 was looking at the games from his “fan” point of veiw and Kumiko-san was looking at them as something she is proud of helping bringing over to the english market, just a guess. I’m a easy-going person, I pretty much spend most of my time trying to understand people opinions of things. Only problem is that i have a hard time explaining that in words but i do understand in my head. Saying that some games “suck” straight to the company that licensed it, is just damm rude. I would not be surprised it Kumiko-san felt hurt in some way. Giving an opinion is alright but becarful on how you say it.

As to comment on a few things that scf030 said (from what i remember), i do agree that Snow Drop has little interaction with the chars, but it did have a great story, very touching. Personally i liked Tokimeki Check In! more because there is tons of interaction and it’s more easy to understand where to go next like following a char around or something like that, it was more funny too, but it was ment to be like that. Now I’m NOT saying that any of these games suck, I’m just saying which I like more and why… If someone was telling me to watch something because they like it, and I say “na it’s not in my interest”, and they try to force me, I would pretty much go on the offensive. INFACT, something like this just happend about 2 weeks ago, I ended up watching a movie with my friends that i didn’t want to watch (it was about cars). I did manage to watch the whole movie, but I have to say, “I tried it, I didn’t hate it, but I still have no interest in it”.

Basicly what I’m saying is that, don’t try and force an opinion on someone, it’s not very nice, infact it’s rude… I have a feeling that I’ll get a reply saying that, being like that won’t help a bussisnes expand. But you must remember, everyone has their on taste, if one doesn’t like robots, search for the ones that do and rely on them to buy robot anime, toys, etc.

And FXHO "you must think that each customer is an ally"

Nicely said.

Kumiko-chan, I think fxho and Freak’s point is that you’re a bit too defensive in the protection of the bishoujo genre… It’s natural to be defensive over something you care about, but, IMHO, as a PR for PeachPri, you shouldn’t. IMHO, being way too defensive when defending something you care about makes you look agressive toward people who don’t share your POV, nor like that thing you care about; and makes you look close-minded. And looking agressive to people is not IMHO something good for business, not when it may turn away someone who could have become a customer.
It’s all in the wording, I think. It’s like saying to someone who’s genuinely ignorant of anime and would like to know more “You’re an idiot” instead of “What do you want to know?”. For instance, you wrote “America is so lame they don’t even have the best magical girl TV anime ever done!” while IMHO you should have written something along the lines of “It’s a shame that America doesn’t even have one of the best magical girl TV anime ever done!” (BTW, I’m a magical girl fan, and I don’t think WP is the best… I prefer genuine works like Minky Momo, Creamy or recent Lala…)

Well, I don 't have a real preference for anime because I enjoyed a series like Berserk (which is still my favorite) but also video girl ai. I like Mahoujin Guruguru too, and akazukin chacha as well, and I could keep on with other genres. And I like DB just like Kumiko like WP.
