My computer crashed

Will on the day of 11/24/01 my computer crashed. Will I have to reinstall everything. I lost all of the save file on Bishojo games. I have to start over. Will Maybe I will do over tommorrow. My computer has been fixed. I fixed myself. ofcourse. I just install all of the bishojo games that I like. When computer crashed I get

Make regular backups, my good computer went down and I couldn’t use it for three months because the company took that long to send me a replacement motherboard, so I had to use my old K6-2. Luckily, my backups were fairly recent at the time it went down and my K6-2 is enough to run bishoujo games.

If you know where to locate the files. Some companies put their save files with the registry (i.e. Sogna) Some put them in .dat file in the Windows directory. (X-Change does this). while others use an actual save file or files that actually reside in the games directory. (Elf, Will, Tokemeki Check-In) So discovering which save method the game uses is an adventure in itself.

Oh and don’t forget to test your restore as well. Don’t laugh, I’ve done enough computer support where people were religious about doing backups, except their restore software didn’t work or their backups were corrupted!

But look at it this way, at least now you have a very good excuse to spend time replaying all those games!

If you can’t backup up for whatever reason. (Don’t know how to or just lazy are good reasons) Do what I do and suggest. This only work if you re-installing. Make two partitions of your hard disk. C (primary) to store all your system files. (ie Windows) And store your games/programs in D (secondary) drive. So if your computer go poff, which windows has a good habit of doing, reinstalling will not affect your programs much. In most cases you even have you perferences of your programs intact.

My usual suggestion is 2gig for windows and the rest for programs. Just a suggest if you planning to re-install.
