New Products!

i notice that the new items are extremely limited stock, in most cases only 2

it seems to me, that these are very specialized items, the majority of which are likely to be bought by the people on this forum
if thats the case, perhaps it would be more efficient, to present a proposed list of products, and then see which ones we want the most before actually stocking them
?

sigh~ There goes the last of my cash reserves. ^_^;

Don't worry about it, I thought I'd be able to resist buying stuff for once but I now realize tomorrow is payday...

I ordered on Saturday and got my Tokimeki Check-In/X-change 2 artbook yesterday, was extremely excited. (Doki Doki!) Thanks Peach Princess

Thanks for the notice Kumiko, I just got done watching “Teacher’s Pet” and when I saw the the film art book I just had to get it. I also bought the Koh Kawarajima book as well, I like what he did in “Immoral Angel”. I hope someone bring over some of his other works.

im worried
they might not sell too well considering they are not translated, and PeachPrincess is aimed at english speaking markets

i just got the email newsletter…
just noticed that many of the titles no longer have an estimated release date, but are temporarially suspended

somthing to worry about?

I fear that the whole thing is coming to an bad end.
Just like some years ago in the UK with the Otaku label or some others. Same symptomes.

You know what it means? It means we ALL have to go to every gaming forum, anime forum and adult forum that we know and make people aware of these games, and we have to do this RIGHT NOW, before it’s too late…

I noticed that Brave Soul is still scheduled for release, it seems to generate some interest in RPG forums, maybe we could also get RPGamer.com to list it in their database? I know it’s not out yet, but personally I’ve been more successful getting people interested in that than any of the other games…

Anyways, you can all go and post about these games in other forums now.

Hi everyone! Please, as Kumiko said, don’t give up the good fight. It’s very defeatist to start speculating about the temporary hold on Peach Princess games. I remember the same thing happening when Cardcaptor Sakura disappeared from the release schedule, and within days the internet BBS’s was abuzz with the rumors that Cardcaptor Sakura was going to be cancelled because its experimental Magical Girl show release was a failure, and going the way of Pretty Sammy. The best thing for everyone is to talk about the games with other people, promote greater understanding of the genre, and change the prevalent misconception about Bishoujo games. OLF_LE_LOF, Spectator Beholder, gommen ne, I didn’t realize how much abuse you guys had to put up with at MegaTokyo until I checked out that obscenely enormous thread for True Love. I’ve posted a note, and I hope it was level headed and a persuasive post that will cool the hot heads at the forum.
I’d like to make a short update on the Bishoujo Gaming Survey Project here by the way. I’m very grateful to all the people at the three different BBS’s: Peach Princess, Himeya, and MegaTokyo, for becoming willing participants in the survey. It was a lot of work, and with the helpful feedback of Peach Princess, tenshi-tachi, my Bishoujo gaming friends, I streamlined the survey down to its fourth revision, and gotten more than 2/3 of the total sent surveys back to me already. These data are valuable indicators of the pulse on the current Bishoujo gaming audience, and almost every question asked on the survey was significant. Please look forward to seeing the results and draft when all the surveys come back, and when the thesis and data go live on my website.

WOW …you sure like to type and express yourself Kumiko…

I just wanted to say that what Turrican say might be righ, Brave Soul will be the first english hentai RPG since Knights of Xentar and a lot of ppl is waiting for it, unlike others H-Games from the distant past this one seens worth the money (RPG, japanese voices, movies, great art)

Remenber Lunar Silver Star for PSX? this RPG grafichs and battle system were completly outdated but still it sold well, why? because it gave what RPG and Anime fans wanted: a good story and great character develoment.

It's what Beholder and I are trying (hard) to do at the MT boards... As you see, even there, where people are supposed to be fans of "dating sims" or at least interested by it, it's a hard fight...

OLF_LE_LOF,

It's "OLF", or "Olf Le Fol", not "Olf Le Lof"... "OLL" wouldn't be fun a pun...

Thanks for your concern, though I wouldn't really call it "abuse"... just "heated discussion"!

I’m very concerned about the ‘heated discussion’ that transpired at MegaTokyo. These ‘fans’ of dating sims outright reject Bishoujo games, dubbing them ‘hentai games’ because they judge the proverbial book by the cover, and do not even believe that these games are rich in story and characterization. I understand the reaction is a reflexive one, because modern civilization has had a rather seedy history of collectively sterotyping groups of people. Anime fans have yet to shake off the shackles of an ‘Otaku’ if they remain close-minded about Bishoujo Anime and Bishoujo gaming. It wasn’t so long ago that people who watched Anime were labeled ‘weird’ or ‘perverts’, a general perception that I am sure is still pervasive even today. As the old fans grew up, founded their own companies and licensed the Anime, people became educated about Anime and came to realize there are lots of different kind of Anime. That’s where a rift forms between non-adult Anime fans and adult Anime fans. People who don’t know about Anime label it adult cartoons, and condemn anime fans for their collective demoralizing influences. Still steeped in American morals and ethos, non-adult Anime fans shun and rebuke adult Anime fans for their poor preference. Adult content aside, adult Anime fans appreciate both adult and non-adult Anime for the same reasons non-adult Anime fans appreciate their Anime: story and characters.

Still, I know I appreciate your efforts as well. I've been avoiding posting there, I tend to lose my temper too much just reading the posts as it is. I mean, I have my opinions as well but I'm open minded enough to realize that sometimes my opinions aren't the only valid ones out there.

BTW (a bit off-topic, but probably relevent), one of the other problems that I have found with getting people to buy these games is that many of the people I know who like them (both on and off then net) are underage, usually about 15 or 16 and so don’t want to buy them in case their parents find out about it. I was 16 myself when I first got into bishoujo gaming (I’m 19 now) and I wouldn’t have dared to order an adult product that was to arrive in my post, which would almost certainly be picked up first by my parents.

Yeah right, but what did you mean with that, do you mean PeaPri should sale Games to underaged kids? I don’t think so.
So what did you mean with this reply.
I think if they really would like to have the Games they get it from anywhere or from someone but they never will it buy legaly. So the only good thing is they know about the games and they buy it evebtually later when they’re adults but now there is no help for PeaPri.

MFG R.

Basically what I was saying is that there are many people who are underaged who are pirating these games, I'm not saying that Pea Pri or any other distributor of adult material should find a way to sell the products to an underaged audience, just that this is causing a problem since it means that they are creating a demand for piracy... I know what it's like since I'll admit that I've been there myself, downloading a few of the older bishoujo games a few years back when I was 16. Now that I'm 19, I can easily just get my parents to order me them using their credit card, then I pay for it (Though they bought me Snow Drop for xmas ) and I'm sure many (though obviously not all) of the current underage gamers will start buying the games legally once they are of a legal age to do so if they like them.

IMHO, some of the great bishoujo games would lose little or nothing without the adult material (such as Divi Dead) and that way, could be sold to people of any age, though I guess that won't happen so I'm just going on a bit now...

Oh, one more thing, I recieved a response from PC Gamer (A magazine over here in the UK) to my e-mail that I sent them about publishing a feature or article about the genre, it wasn't positive or negative feedback, just an aknowledgement (which is more than I had expected to be honest) that they will forward it and consider it, but they are "Not sure how successful it'll be". Also, the guy who replied did seem to have some knowledge on bishoujo games, particularly Divi-Dead.

Konnichiwa, minna-san!

I’m doing a little bit of research on general public perception of Bishoujo Gaming and Bishoujo Anime for the Bishoujo Gaming Survey Project. After all, I cannot fully comprehend the current Bishoujo Gaming audience without understanding the underlying pervasive notion of Bishoujo gaming of the uninitiated. As you can imagine, this is a somewhat daunting task. I’m going to save that whopping 93 replies-thread for ‘True Love’ on the MegaTokyo forum. All I need from everyone else is to point me to the appropriate threads that may be relevant to the topic of Bishoujo gaming choice, preference, or perception, and I will do all the work of saving the threads. Thank you.

Well, I can hardly find again all the threads I read about the “general public perception of Bishoujo Gaming and Bishoujo Anime”, but IIRC, the general misperception about bishoujo gaming I encountered are:
1) “adult bishoujo games” = “porn” = "tentacles + mindless sex"
2) “no gameplay” in the meaning "no heavy buttons smashing"
3) “True Love” and “Season of Sakura” are the best “bishoujo games” out there. When you see how old they are, that gives the misperception that “bishoujo games” lack quality in matter of sounds, voices, graphics, etc.
4) “no wonderful 3D graphics”

Also, you may want to email Wavehawk about the anwers he got in the GameFAQs BBS when he asked about ‘dating sims’ (he posted about that in the MT thread http://www.megatokyo.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Bo ard=UBB3&Number=212623&page=3&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=1; the thread is called “why are most translated dating sims hentai?”, if you can’t directly go to a MT link…)
