New site, new mod

Hi all

I don’t know how to say this better, but I will be your new BBS mod at peapri. Some of you know who I am since I have posted quite a few times, but I guess I should formally introduce myself.

My name is Lamuness, and I have been friends with Peter for quite a long time and have been his “background helper” offering him advice and suggestions for peapri. I am a university student struggling with my archiTORTURE thesis and hopefully I will graduate by the end of the summer. Because of this (being a kiddo and a student), I would like to emphasize that I am not really an “employee” of peapri so to speak; I am only just helping Peter out since all the staff (new or existing) are too buy with their work to regularly watch this bbs.

Regarding my interest bishoujo games, I have been playing them for quite a while, and hopefully my knowledge on the genre will help everybody here. I am also an active collector of doujinshis made by bishoujo artists, and I am a CG artist of bishoujo art which you can see at my website ← lame advertisement.

I don’t know what else to say…hmmm, behave yourselves, eat your veggies, play your bishoujo games, watch your bishoujo anime, visit my website, support the genre, and most importantly: relax and have fun

Yoroshiku onegai shimasu~

PS: although I am not really an employee of peapri, I still pour advice and suggestions to Peter every now and then (and don’t worry, he listens to all of them)…so if you have any suggestions and stuff you can always post them here or email me and I will refer them to Peter.

PPS hopefully this will be my longest post…I usually don’t make (or at least try not to) long, boring lectures like Kumiko did before.

Er, Welcome. (Well, like you said, you’ve posted quiet a few times so it’s not like you’re brand new or anything…) At least the new moderator is a familiar “face”!

Though your intro does bring up the question that’s popped up a few times, just what is Peter’s relationship to PeaPri? Oh well, I’m sure this’ll spark off another discussion.

well, I don’t usually speak for other people…why don’t you go ask Peter yourself? :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s just say Peter is just helping out with peapri while he has his own work at jlist/jastusa etc etc…I usually don’t help out with peapri either unless Peter runs to me for help, but I guess I am a bit more involved from now on (to some extent)

Salutations~
Hey, you’re the guy who introduced me to peachpri~ (One of your posts at densetsu a long time ago ^^)

Hrm, I’m gone for a week and so many changes. ^^;

O_O its jus click im my head (im runnin slow today) mes didn’t realize that u were the WM of Lamuness Design Studio mes really like ur work lookin forward to yappin wid ya

TH.

Just some personal opinion about the NG Knight anime series:

Lamuness & 40 is great
EX is great too (own LD copies of it…bought it 10 years ago when I was like 12-13 years old)
DX is errr…ok but honestly a bit too stupid with the parodies
Fire…I didn’t even bother to watch it since it goes way off-stream from the original series (I do own the manga set though…I mean, Kaiser Fire’s design is cool, but it kinda lacks the character of the chess pieces used in previous series)
Flash…(aka Knights of Ramune) I cursed the anime after seeing the first episode…what’s with the sexually-oriented content?! Not that I don’t like cheesecake stuff, but it’s just not appropiate nor necessary

TH:
Thanks for your comments on my site. Are you attending Anime North by any chance?

Well, I know for a fact there is no way I can move out to CA just to work for Peach Princess especially without pay since I am still in graduate school, but I’m doing my part in telling people about Bishoujo games although yes, it’s hard to just go up to people and talk about Bishoujo Games like a Jehovah’s Witness. I’ve tried to make pitches for the games to my friends and I’ve had a 1 to 3 ratio of success (meaning I have 3 friends and 1 is sold on it); 1 friend is apparently really strange and knocking boots with some girl who has a harem so I won’t even go there, he for some reason just can’t tolerate the idea of ‘hentai’; 1 is from Singapore and grew up on your very conservative East Asian values so even Sakura Diaries makes him ill; and 1 just absolutely loves the genre and was so enamored by Tokimeki Check-In! that he bought one. Oh, there’s a guy in my Shadowfist CCG play group and he seemed very interested, but I hadn’t seen him for a while so I don’t know if that was an effective pitch when I brought my laptop and the game into my local comic store.

So, to make a long post short, what’s your strategy for promoting the Bishoujo game genre? I’m not yet there in distributing the Peach Princess pamphlets to my Japanese professors although I’ve pitched J-List to them because Peter always sends me those cute tissue packets, and they absolutely adore the girl from Borderline. I think I’ll eventually do that when I get to know them better though, a few of the senseis are really big Anime fans.

My strategy for promoting the genre? That I don’t really think about since I usually just do as I go.

However, as a bishoujo CG artist (you don’t find alot of those in North America) who also faithfully follows the style and genre (that’s even less) and a doujin-soft maker…I guess that’s part of my contribution

But damn…nobody post on my BBS, I wonder why :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn't even know about your website until you or someone mentioned there was a Lamuness design studio. I wanted to pitch the game to my anime club but the regular turnouts number, well, the very close 'Ie' circle is like 9 including myself, 3 of which are still in high school so it's illegal, 2 are female and I can't decide if we are on good terms, 1 is a huge anime fan but still somewhat 'Soto' to our clique so...

Well… now you have a post. Nice artwork. When you finish Project Starfield let me know. It looks very nice. Have fun and good luck.

I don’t know how to read this post that has just recently gone up on MegaTokyo. Someone read this off of the Magic Box video gaming news site, and they jumped on that blurb about a Sakura Taisen sequel being planned for release overseas (US/Europe). The individual who made the post wants everyone to buy the game when it comes out, to show that there is an interest in Renai games. I can’t help but feel a little bit irked, I won’t say that the person probably doesn’t mean that there aren’t renai games already, since Sakura Taisen has that crossover appeal going for it, being a blend of turn-based RPG and at the same time a dating simulation, so it’s not quite the same as the AVGs currently offered by Himeya and Peach Princess, but at the very least shouldn’t there be some kind of acknowledgement that there are the already available Bishoujo games that need support as well? It looks like the call to arms isn’t going as well as the individual who posted it predicts though, since the thread has been pretty much quiet except for me, who makes up 25% of the posts.

I kept reading bokmeow’s post and kept wondering if this guy put this post in the wrong thread :stuck_out_tongue:

But it’s okay. Yeah, I do agree that ST doesn’t really represent renai games as the genre, not even the anime itself…

and I got your email, bokmeow…I will get back to you next week after Anime North. Sorry for the delay, but I do have a major headache for this convention, which I will explain next week

Hmm, you talk a lot about stragey, so I guess that I’ll have to give you some parts of my stragey for getting new customers for Peach Princess… There is a few sites I’ve keept my eyes on, and soon I’ll mail some of them and suggest that they link to Peach Princess. I think that at least one of those will be positive to the throught of linking to Peach Princess so that may draw some new people here, who knows? They might be interested in linking, at least, since their homepages are kind of related to some of the subjects that Peach Princess’s games deals with (and, no, we aren’t talking about any sites that are illegal in any way here, not as far as I know - but they deals with some subjects that some people may find offensive or “perverse”).

I’m also thinking about starting something I call “Operation: Speading like the Wind” on the same day that Brave Soul is released, which basically means that I will post a small “preview message” on webboards/message boards that deals with RPG’s (there’s tons of boards like that). That might attract the attention of a few fans of RPG’s that might be interested in buying Brave Soul - and if they like Brave Soul, they might become curious about Peach Princess’s games too…

Well, this is what I’m doing to improve Peach Princess’s situation as it is today. It’s hard to say if it will have any effects, through.
