Had to format Com because of freak accident…

Hi, Orochi

I hope everything’s fine woth your com.
What happened anyway?

By the way, is it ok for me to add you in my ICQ?

Orochi-san,

Is it ok for me to add you as well? I just reformatted my comp as well and need to get icq again…Forgot to back that up

Anyway, I was thinking that if the people on the board posted their ICQ number we would be able to communicate with each other better. I will post mine as well when I get ICQ again.

Go ahead but let me remind you that by default,I’m invisible.

Nothing too serious…
What I lost is my proposed E-Commerence Website for my school project, some memo/notes from my lecture but those are backed up and avaliable from my institue’s server.

But what pains me is the loss of my mp3s collection and CGs I have D/L for refrence for my sketch…
Had to built those from scratch…

I was just trying out a new driver for my video card, when the setup hang, had to force restart my com and what-did-you-know,during boot up the machine says that there was no partition to boot from.

And even if all we had ICQ, not everybody will be online at the same time to initiate a “chat”.

Kumiko-san: computers can be a pain, however, consider that if it weren’t because of them, we won’t be playing these games nor be on this board. That’s something we must live with. And, BTW, speaking of games…

If you still haven't formatted your hard drive, I think only the boot record of your disk is damaged. A fdisk /mbr might restore it... give it a try...

To stay off topic:

I recently went to the website of Guitar Vader and they are offering MP3 download for free. This is an ideal opportunity to discover this unknown Japanese rock band. They make damn cool music.

Check their website at:
www.berry-records.com

I suggest you to try:
Beach Panic !
SHINING
Persecution Mania
Turtle Man

They plan on opening a section for international orders…

I am not quite convinced of the fdisk /mbr. It only refers to the MBR, not necessarily to the active boot partition. If Orochi could make the computer boot from, say a CD or floppy, and the data still be there, then, it may have worked. It depends what OS Orochi was working on, too. Anyway, we can safely assume that he knew what he was doing when he formatted his hard drive.

It’s nothing too serious actually.
I’ve manage to retrive all the links in my bookmarks and given time,I will be able to rebuild my collections.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to inform people that I’ve have lost my ICQ/Email contact list and tell me to message/Email me if they want to be in my contact list again.

Let this thread die if you want to.

Another problem…

If anyone tries to mail me via gundam.com and got their mail return,it’s the mail servers fault…

Direct your mail towards…

rance@singnet.com.sg

As you can see from this account,I’ve devoted my life to bishoujo gaming…

Hi.

Since my topic is off topic, I decided to continue Orochi’s thread. I was wondering if anyone can give me an advice in computer problem since there’s a lot of computer geniuses here .

I just got a CD-Writer (HP 9500) and it’s been causing problem. First my computer sometimes hang or freeze or restarts itself after or before copying CD (which I think is due to the copying program that HP give but I’m not sure).
Secondly, upon booting my computer a message always appear “RAM Parity Error Press ESC to deactivate ECC or any other key to reboot” I have to press ESC in order to play computer now.

Anyone has any idea or suggestion?
Thanx in advance

Kaiser, Do you use Anti-Virus Software? On My Sony Spressa USB Burner, I have to deactivate the A/V Software because it will either lock up the computer, or cause the recording to fail.

As for the RAM Parity Question : Did you upgrade the memory in your Computer, recently? I think you either have mixed memory chips (ECC / non-ECC) or you need to adjust the settings in your system BIOS. (ECC stands for Error Control Checking)

-Warning Don’t Adjust your system settings in your BIOS unless you know exactly what you are Doing.-

Hi, Doug.

Thanx for the advice.
I do have an anti virus software called VEt (Australian made and it’s very good), I’ll try to close when I copy CD and see how it goes.

As for RAM Parity Error, I did not change my memory. However, according to my friends it is because I pug the IDE cable on the CD writer on the wrong way (the red wire facing the wrong way) and somehow that shortcircuit the RAM.

I’ll try bringing it in to the shop today.
Evrytime I bought something new, something always comes up
