Since one of the heli’s used to pull the raid off broke down, one of the US military’s secret weapons has now gone public. Whatever means was used to destroy the broken bird, clearly didn’t get everything. There’s lots of parts and scrap at the site, which the Pak’s are salvaging together. I bet the Chinese and Russians are trying to buy what they can.
So basically the US has stealth helicopters. Of course that isn’t exactly new news (see the RAH-66 Comanche), but now it’s confirmed the things do exist in actual use.
I suppose military tech buffs will now debate, if killing bin Ladin was “worth” losing the technology of this to enemies.
given that they apparently break so easily, maybe they’re not that valuable! The whole point of ‘black’ helicopters is that there is no way to confirm they actually exist- they aren’t seen and their existence can be plausibly denied by the government. The helicopter wasn’t even fired upon!
