Hi, all. A quick question – which, if any, of the hallowed old Otaku Publishing games works in XP? I am still interested in seeing if we can re-license these games, but there are of course many factors involved (such as, will they run – that’s a big one).

Hey Peter,
The Otaku games I've tested and how they did:
True Love -Ran in XP but there's a font problem on the main game screens (Font looks really blocky, like it wasn't using an actual font. It was in the Area location Box and the Message Box and both ran outside the boxes. This was the only problem I encountered with True Love. IMHO this would have to be fixed before releasing because the game looks seriously unprofessional with the blocky text.) (Game would not install using the installer.. ported registry files from a Win 98 install...Then copied installed files to XP...Had to do this with the Four Games I tested)
Paradise Heights -Game had the blocky text in Message Box Only. Whenever a .wav file would play, I would get a Windows Alert message saying that it couldn't Open the file. You could still play it though.
Return to Paradise Heights -Same as Paradise Heights, except for the fact that the game would Puke back to Windows Whenever it tried to Play a .Wav file.
Time Stripper If I remember Correctly had the same Problem as Paradise Heights.
All games MIDI music Played w/o a problem.

Most games will run under winxp (and install) if u set the compatabilities on the .exe files to win95 (not 98+ all goes screwy on me) other than the font/.wav (if game has em) prob they’ll work fine some u might need to disable midi “cannot read from midi header” or somthing along them lines
all in all its jus a matter of settin the compats. to win95

I tried that and it did not work with my system. It had something to do with the registry files since Win XP uses an updated version of the Registry. (Ver 5)
Thanks for the information. Does launching the game in Win95/98 mode make the blocky text go away?

No.
