Plan of attack/ think tank!

Why dont we all get together and organise a plan of attack for advertising Adult Bishoujo games to the english market. Im sure if we put our heads together we can come up with alot of new forms of advertising!

Heres an idea to start us off: We all probably go to other to other anime themed boards, such as animenation, totalanime ect and most of them let you have signatures. Well we could all put a link to peach princess on our sigs! and the link will be viewed by thousands of people if enough of us do it. Il start with a big ,font size=+3 link to PP on my animenation account.

Well lets get more ideas rolling

Just another thing to add H Jo, you need to state that the link is to an adult site and no one under 18 should click on it.

Yes I understand what you mean Kumiko but if it doesnt cost anything and only takes a few seconds to set up I dont thing theres anything wrong with a bit of random advertising .

Anyway have you tryed offering your games to EB or GAME here in the UK. They have carried adult games before so I cant see them having a problem with it.

Yes, I've been doing this on an emulation forum that I visit for a little while now. I've also put "www.peachprincess.com - Lovely Angel Fantasy Tonight" into my /quit message on IRC.

I’ve done something like that at some of the forums where I’m going, I put the adress to Peach Princess there in my sig… There is also another way to spread the word: If you are visiting the forums of some game company and a thread about “nudity in games”, you could post a post about Peach Princess of their games there. There is always people who likes the throught of good games with some sex and nudity in those threads, so they might be interested in the games that Peach Princess offers.

Bring it up on Atlus' forums. Their current poll is asking for preference between subbed and dubbed games. Well... here we are, folks!

Electronics Boutique is one of several software stores we try to contact, but you have to understand that these chains (a) buy from distributors, not manufacturers, and (b) they cannot go against public opinion. They will only do something that increases sales, especially if it is a controversial move for them. Offering "porno" games would be very controversial. Oh... one other thing they have to be careful about is their lease agreements with malls. Many malls will not allow adults-only material to be sold by stores who lease space from them - that's another reason why most software chains won't even try to carry such products, even if they wanted to attempt to put up with public backlash. They can't violate their lease.

Well thats a good point Kumico. But the UK isnt like America in that respect. People dont go to "adult" stores to buy adult products because they can just pop to the local mall unlike in america nearly every major chain sells porn in one form or another. GAME,MVC,Coda,Virgin and nearly every other major electronic.music/DVD/vidoe game store sells porn. And we dont hide it either Virgin in scotlands capital "a general store" has 2 shelves of it on the "bottom" shelves not even placed at the top. Coda in livingston and edinburge has xxx vidoes such as the great parody "the erotic blair witch project" a great 3 way lesbian porn on a spinable display at the very front of the store along with about 15 other xxx DVD's... Sry I know im trailing on here but my point was we dont have as many regulations as America does when It comes to porn. This is probably because we dont have as many extream right wingers living up here.

Il contact GAME anyway for you

Helen McCarthy and various others have had the opposite view of sexuality and the censorship employed in the UK. From everything she has said, it's worse in various respects than America. Perhaps it varies by locale, though. There are stores in America that have adult-only material on racks and such, but not in malls. On the other hand, malls allow Suncoast and other stores to carry FHM, Playboy, etc so one has to wonder what the point is in the double-standard... after all, any extreme groups hate all of it, so it isn't like they pull back for Playboy or other publications.

Hmmm that is odd! I always thought the uk had a much more open view about sex than America? who is Helen McCarthy anyway?

Well anyway do you really consider FHM to be an adult magazine! I would have thought maby a teenage magazine myself. It only contains very light nudity. No more than you would find in your average newspaper

About the Mall issue, I worked at Software Etc. about 5 years ago and there were 3 instances that I can recall carrying games that had nudity. One was a Image CDROM that had nothing but nude pictures, it was a value title and then there were a couple mystery games. Software Etc has and still does carry adult games with nudity and Walden Books located in the mall also carries playboy and penthouse magazines and a couple others I believe. So I don’t think the malls are quite as restrictive as some companies want you to believe, they are just looking for excuses not the carry the games… Hopefully that will change soon.

Actually, I will have to disagree with you on this. I know that, at least in one mall near where I live, you can go into a game store and get adult anime DVDs, and go next door to get actual live-action porno in that movie selling chain (I think it's Saturday Matinee or something). I also know that this video chain sells adult anime.

Kumiko, you said “The problem is explicit sexuality.” If memory serves me right, doesn’t Penthouse allow hardcore shoots now and explicit cartoons? What’s the difference between that and your games? (I guess the answer is nothing aside from the ignorant biases and limited perspectives of the people who are, ironically, in-the-know.)

It’s really sad that Gamespot and E3 act this way towards bishoujo gaming…

But I understand their point of view (not that it means that it’s right): They are very afraid of the consequences that this action could bring…

Let’s admit it: most people still consider that this kind of product is “evil”…

There is a TV show here in Portugal called “Gregos e Troianos”, which translates as “Greeks and Troojans”, in which there are always two sides (one for “Yes” and one for “No”) that argue amongst themselves… The spectators may also participate (both the ones in the studio or by phone and SMS)…

The theme in last week’s show was Sex… Throughout most of the program, the people on the side of “No” (the only reasonable person there was a lady) kept on bashing homossexual people, sex-shops, pornography, etc, claiming that it was evil, dangerous, unnatural, etc…

We really have a big problem with this sort of thing in our society… One of the things that bothers me the most is that here in Portugal we use a word that means gay as a one of the most common insults… This is terribly wrong!

Well, I am drifting from my main point: Most people are against this kind of stuff, so the companies are afraid of loosing those same persons… Sad, but true…

Excuse me if I was unclear in what I wrote here, but I tend to mess up when talking about things that bother me…

The whole “unnatural” argument is completely invalid. Depictions of sex have been around since folks were painting on cave walls and have continued in various forms over the past few thousand years and long before there was any moral controversy on the subject.

I’d think that labelling sex as evil is unnatural. One of the primary instincts driving any species is the desire to reproduce. To then call that natural act and urge evil totally goes against nature; hence the “moral” argument is unnatural, not pictures meant to cause arousal.

I could and probably should go further with my argument if I wanted to strengthen it, but besides the fact that I’m sure I’m already preaching to the converted, it’s off-topic in regard to bishoujo games.
