Poll Take 3

Here are some more questions I’m curious about on what people think about adult bishoujo games:

1.) What genre of bishoujo games do you like the most? Why?

2.) What companies’ games do you buy from the most?

3.) What do you think is an appropriate price for these games? What is too much?

P.S. Kumiko-chan, please come back! It is just not the same without you on the BBS!

  1. Hmmmm… No comments here.

    2) Considering there are not that many companies bringing english translated games…

    3) OK, considering that I am get used to the range of US$40.00 to US$60.00 (without adding the extra shipping to outside the US), I am OK within that range. However, keep in mind that some Japanese games are well over that range, between US$75.00 to US$100.00. If I knew Japanese I will consider it reasonable, too. (The DVDs cost more than double compared to Region 1, and I am not complaining at all!)

  1. I would like a good story with not too much complicated (Divi Dead) and with a great ending. Two of my favourite game would be Nocturnal Illusion and Season of Sakura

2.Himeya and JastUsa (the only 2 english-translated game company )

3.I think the price that JastUsa, PeaPri or Himeya is offering is ok. I really don’t have much complaint there.

eeee…orochi, what is that strange symbol you made?

Don’t tell me you missed Kumiko THAT much, FeistyGuy

P.S.It seemed like this week is pool week, evryone is taking up pool

Don’t mind me…
I’m just typing in English in Shift-JIS format up there.(Since I’m was broswing the page in my Jwin98,might as well…)

You have to broswe the page in Shift-JIS to view my message.

Thanks for the responses guys! I guess it is my turn to put up my opinions.

1.) I personally like SLGs and raising sims the most although I will try out any game that has good recommendations from people I tend to agree with.

2.) I guess I have purchased the most from Himeya since they seem to have the most games translated into English. Since my reading and writing in Japanese is around the first grade level playing the games in Japanese is always an interesting endeavor unless it has full voice. Then, I have no problem with the Japanese.

3.) If I’m buying a US domestic I guess a good price range is 40-50 dollars. Otherwise, I have to try out the game first before I buy it. If it is a japanese game I’m willing to pay the extra amount just because games are priced higher there.

Those who are wondering what Orochi-san wrote:

1.)Not into any kind, but anything with a interesting story will do.

2.)I’ll buy any kind of games if the CGs looks good. But if you are asking about my fave com pany,I’ll say KEY,F&C and AliceSoft.

3.)For a lousy game with No good story,I don’t think that it will be worth my 8800 yen. But Classic such as Kanon will be worth
it.

Orochi-san: it is strange, but it didn’t work with Shift_JIS, but it did with EUC-JP. Tested in Windows 2000 Pro (English), using Netscape 4.76, Netscape 6.01 and Internet Explorer 5.0. Failed in Netscape 4.76, but worked with the other two.

Now that you mention Jwin, I once had it, but the disk had two directories, one japanese.nec and the other japanese.at. What is the diference between them?

Orochi-san, it is strange, but it didn't work with Shift-JIS, but Japanese EUC.

Thank you for translating it fxho, I was getting curious of what the writing meant

1.) What genre of bishoujo games do you like the most? Why?

-I’d like to say RPG’s but I can’t because so few are offered in English Knights of Xentar is the only one I can think of.

2.) What companies’ games do you buy from the most?

-I’ve bought just about all the C’s Ware games offered by Himeya, I’ve bought the three main titles from JastUSA(I also have Transfer Student on preorder.)Also between JastUSA and Peach Princess, I have the First Four PeaPri games on preorder.

3.) What do you think is an appropriate price for these games? What is too much?

-No more than $50.00 per game although if a Role Playing Game were to be offered (Brave Soul -hint hint-) I might be willing to pay a little more for it.

  1. Anykind, I prefer game’s company than type of games.

    2. My favorite are elf, Studio e!go and Interheart. I don’t like 3D CG games such as Eden, Doll and Bikou etc.

    3. I’ve order English Translated game from Animenation. If include shipping fee, the price will be $70. I hope it should be cheaper than this.

Hey , Knight that's a cool user name. At first I always use knight for everything but now I'm moving to this new user name

Anyway, you mentioned getting your game from AnimeNation, why not try to get it straight from the company e.g. Himeya,JastUsa and PeaPri?
JastUsa is offering 3 games FOR $70 with shipping and PeaPri is offering omakes with the pre-orders
Just something for you to think about

Naturally, that might depend on your personal taste - but assuming you are interested in the title, is it reasonable to ask for a few more $$$ if extras are included for the title either with the purchase or through downloads and such?

It really depends on what's being offered. I mean if its RPG and you're offering an extra adventure as a download, I don't mind paying for that, especially if there are new graphics etc. included. I do mind paying for something that doesn't enhance the game being offered software wise, because were buying the game for the game and not the extras.

If I'm really interested in a title of a game then I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for an omake or in the download section.
However, this is assuming that I like the title and the extra $ is worthed.

I won’t mind paying extra on omake. An extra US$5.00 is fine, considering that the games here are below the suggested retail price of other US games.

Now, I usually don’t like software omake, like screen savers or neko-like cursors chasing the mouse pointer. May be cute, but I prefer to turn off the monitor (please, save electricity ) If paying an extra gives me a special edition of the game that includes a character ending that otherwise you could not get, in the normal edition, I would pay it, too (up to an extra US$10.00). As for other omake, I am fond of posters or trading cards. Even stickers! A mouse pad will be fine, too.

i agree with fxho, I definately would pay extra for omake items, not necessarily for software though. If the game came with a few extra wallpaper items, or the CD’s are colored different I wouldn’t pay extra.

I will definately (and is a factor when deciding to purchase anime goods) pay more for things such as cards, mousepads, posters, pins, etc.

To Doug, fxho, and Photek:

I have to disagree with you. One of the things that I really like are extras, even if it’s something as simple as a few wallpaper pics. Now, stickers, cards, posters, mouse pads, extra music, scenarios, are keen too; but I’d also pay a few extra bucks if the game just came with graphic extras (maybe a short animed movie, or a couple wallpapers.) I can’t count the number of times I’ve booted up to wallpapers of Gloria, Desire, or Divi-Dead.

Criminy one of my friends picked up Lunar 2 Eternal Blue because of the sheer amount of extra stuff tossed in (music CD, pendant, map, etc.) And, some of my other friends who have recently picked up Everquest, were disappointed that they received a poster-map, instead of a cloth map. When I asked if they would have payed an extra buck or two for the cloth, they said “sure.”

Criminy even if the extra was just a color manual instead of a black and white one; I’d pay a couple extra bucks for that.

Basically I really like any kind of omake.

Mike

Got to agree with good old Mike Thomas. Maybe it is because I’m nisei and have been living in Southern California all my life. It just always seems that the US blows in service compared with Japan. Whenever I go to Japan it seems that the part time workers there are more curteous (b/c they have to be) and caring and certainly the “omiage” or “omake” element is a nice touch. The US is generally lacknig in this customer service department.

Anyway, I’m saying that I would not mind paying a few xtra bucks for the games (although it would no longer be a omake since we are coughing up more money).

Very true Kumiko-chan. I just find it ironic that they call it omake when in fact the consumer is paying for it. I love marketing!

Faster… and with tons of bugs, that is!

Well, my point is is that paying for the cost goes to the consumer. Anyway, I’d still prefer paying a little extra for the extra stuff so please put it in!
