Possible good news for English B-Game Fans!

The PC H-RPG Eien no Aselia: The Spirit of Eternity Sword made by XUSE, is being ported to PS2 (H-free of course) and comes out in Japan in May. Heres the interesting part, the game is bing ported and published on PS2 by Nippon 1. Nippon 1 started up their own US branch and brought Phantom Brave here back in the fall. Nippon 1 USA seems to be a very experimental-willing company (thier next game is a Raising Sim-RPG afterall).

Therefore the chance of a US release is very possible. If this happens, all the N1 fans will buy it, think its a great game, and then say “Wait a sec, this was an H-game?” This could finally be the chance for a B-game to be played by the masses of videogame lovers here in the US. This could finally be the moment we’ve all been waiting for.

The game itself is an SRPG, looks a lot like a Super Robot Wars clone from the demo vids. Heres some links:

Now lets all hope for the best. Its still a little early to get excited, but just think of the possibilites

too bad for those of us who don’t have PS2 though

but its good for us who do.

It's a pretty good reason to get one, though...

... IF you have the money, that's it.. .

if you know a repitable dealer that sells them used you might be able to get them for ~100. Still not cheap, but its basically the cost of 2 new release games.

That is, unless you find a good em…, em…, emu…, to your…; you get it.

Anyway, that’s really good news. Time to play some translated bishoujo games in my PS2 (aside the Hirameki DVD-PG games i have)!

That's really not the point. The good thing about this is that western mainstream gamers would have the chance to see that there are ero games that do have a lot of positives outside of adult content. This would hopefully get more people to check into adult bishoujo games since more people would realize that not all bishoujo games are "yarigee."

I wonder how much of an effect such a release would have. Let's face it: the vast majority of people playing the game would never realize the game they're playing was originally an adult game. If they don't manage to make that initial connection, then the whole idea you described falls through.

In any case, I'd be interested in such a release on its own merits. I love RPG's, and the bishoujo slant would only be a plus, even without the H.

What about us who, by now, are tired of Having piles of old game consoles, and dont wantto throw them, so they dont want to buy a new one?
What about us who just wait for the "em,em...emu...," :P
There is not something like that for ps2, is it?

Oh go ahead and say it alteady!

PS2 emulators are out there. I would post a link, but I know that unlike the US, emulators for consoles aren’t nessarily legal elsewhere. In the US its the Bios or the act of bypassing the bios that would be illegal (ie thus allowing you to play backups).

Anyway the best PS2 emulator is far from being anything worth mentioning as it only plays a few comerical games and those not too good.

Anyway it doesn’t matter for me as i have a PS2.

Hmm…well if it comes out here I’ll think about getting it. Too bad they took out the h-scenes though.

I hate playing hacked up games personally. Pia carrot 3 for dc is a good example of a hack job…

I’ve played The Spirit of Eternity Sword briefly, and the first loli-incest themed rape scene is pretty freaky. I wonder what they replaced those scenes with in order to keep the freaky atmosphere.

Then again, it WAS possible to avoid it by taking a different choice right before it happens, which I guess is pretty rare in dark ero-games.

"Dark ego-game"? Aselia? I was under the impression that this is not the case, even if a "dark route" indeed exist in Aselia from what I'be heard of Olf...

Like I said, you get a choice, at least in the parts I saw. You hear some kind of freaky voice in your head, and depending on which answer you pick you'll either rape the girl you're interacting with, or... not. Usually the "not" choice leads to a much more consensual sex scene a little while later. I say "usually" because the loli girl who likes to call you "papa" didn't have a consensual scene in the parts of the game I played (which wasn't all that much, really). The other girls had consensual scenes fairly shortly afterwards if you didn't rape them.

I didn't play much of the game, and it's quite possible the entire game could be happy-joy if you pick the right choices, but you definitely have the choice of making the game a dark one.

They pulled out all the stops didn't they? I wonder how such a game, even with the adult content taken out, could ever be made acceptable to the mainstream American audience. They'd have to censor the censored version...

Hey, they released a PS2 version for the Kishiku game NATURAL 2~DUO~, don’t they? So they can release a mainstream version for ANYTHING!

What comes next? ISAKU/KISAKU PS2 game?

I just had a look at the demo movies. Pretty neat. Here’s the links from their page:

Demo movie (focus on battle):

Demo (more like a typical ADV intro):

Each is about a 50MB download.
