I wonder if this is the power Israel’s Gundam has in the G Gundam universe:
I’m getting tired of this Ukraine issue the news keeps showing. It’s a mess entirely of Ukraine’s making. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the West tried getting Ukraine to join NATO and ditch Russia. Ukraine decided to play off Russia and the West for the best deals, never picking one over the other and doing international political games. Then shit hit the fan, Ukraine got too close to the fire, and Russia decided to quit playing games and take what they wanted by force. Now Ukraine is calling out the West for not saving them.
Ukraine didn’t want to join NATO. Ukraine kept playing “keep away” with full Western aid. Ukraine gave up their nukes and major war equipment to Russia, for brownie points. The West isn’t obligated to save the Ukraine, because Ukraine never obligated to be part of the West.
Technically, I believe the US and the UK did guarantee Ukraine’s territorial integrity in exchange for them giving up their ex-Soviet nukes. I agree it’s not worth a war with Russia to keep that obligation, but it does exist.
The Budapest Memorandums.
It reads that the US, the UK, and Russia will not used military, political, or economic force against Ukraine. Here’s the kicker: the way it’s worded the US, the UK, and Russia are equally seen as threats. That is to say, if the US used economic sanctions against the Ukraine, then Russia and the UK were to go to the UN and call out the US. Because all three parties were equally considered threats as much as allies to Ukraine, none of the three were obligated to defend Ukraine outside of lobbying to the UN about it (which the US and UK have been doing with Russia). The whole thing is just an emphasis, of how Ukraine was playing off all it’s powerful neighbors against each other, without committing to any. From what I understand, before the Russian invasion, many in Ukraine believed joining NATO was just as unacceptable as joining Russia.
Ukraine joined no military alliance, and kept playing keep away when repeatedly offered. I really I don’t see a technicality in it.
Fair enough. Looking at it in more depth, I thought it was a more positive commitment than it actually is. I still find the parallels to 1930’s Germany disturbing, but I agree that there’s no obligation on us here.
Good 'ole American political corruption:

I wish they would also go searching through Washington DC. I’m sure 99.99% of those elected officials have their own version of it.
It’s also funny how fast the wife dropped the husband. Not that I’m saying it’s not sound judgement… just that, “till death do we part,” was clearly ignored.
Would Yuno have left Yuki in the same scenario? Of course not! She’d have tried to kill the judge, lawyers, and jury.
And of course they can’t have any witnesses
OT: Not really surprised at this, as I’ve long since seen politics as a bunch of people in a game of who can tell the best lies and not getting caught (both at lies and whatever else they do). though I will admit that California anti-video game guy’s going down in a manner similar to what we’d see in GTA, one of the very games he decried, deliciously and ironically hilarious

No idea how effective it would be on the battlefield, but it does really look badass… and doesn’t require Tiberium to build.

Aldnoah Zero, last episode.
YES!!! I was so hoping something like that would occur. It fits perfectly!
Urobuchi-sama… I see your hand all over what happened. Don’t ever change, you magnificent bastard.
