Most Liar Soft/Rail Soft eroges draw some inspiration from real-life events. In their most recent release, ??? ??? !!! !!! ???, one of the characters is instantly regonisable, and given the exploration/colonial/archelogical ‘themes’ of the game, it’s pretty easy to pick what stereotypes some of the other characters might have been inspired by.
Rumon Island, the location which Gun-Katana takes place on, is based on Hashima Island (an abandoned island that used to host a heavily populated community).
Chisakura City, the location which MinDeaD BlooD takes place on, appears to be based on a smaller scale Awaji Island (an isolated “island city” connected to the mainland via a single major bridge).
Isnt demonbane inspired by some real life novels, more specifically, Al Azif is said to be inspired/a copy of the Necronomicon?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necronomicon
Metawo’s diary also has a bit more information about this (mostly in the comments/responses), as well as other general influences. I imagine at least some of these things will find their way into Corpse Maid as well.
I did try to make a promise with loli under thousand of Sakura trees but I still did not find the right one (the tree, not the loli).
If you find the never withering Sakura that makes loli want to marry you, tell me.
Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume takes place at the Flowercrest Department Store which is a parallel of the real world Matsubishi Department Store of Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan.
Tsuyokiss is set in Yokosuka. If you compare some of the game backgrounds you can actually find almost picture perfect real life equivalents.
Kimi ga aruji de shitsuji ga orede is set in Yokohama though they call it “Nanahama”.
For some reason the person who writes this stuff really likes port cities.
