Rune Factory 3

Toss up between Persia, Sophia and Sakuya.

Well it appears RF3 continues the tradition of containing twins… in the form of your children. :stuck_out_tongue:

Last of the wives revealed: Karin. Appears to be an emotionless type girl. I bet she’s a screamer.

They should have given her red eyes with that white-silver hair. :expressionless:

I kind of like the look of those color eyes with that hair. It rather reminds me of the color of Sephiroth’s eyes in the original version (i.e. FFVII, not Advent Children) of the CG where he is surrounded by flames.

Mei from Rune Factory!!!

Yui from Rune Factory 2!!!

RF3 has “guest characters” in it… with Yui and Mei as some of them. This not only confirms that RF3 takes place at the same time as RF2 (Yui used to always talk about visiting other towns, but how the one in RF2 was her favorite - probably because of Kyle), but that RF1 or RF Frontier is also in the present.

I always thought RF1 was in the past… but evidently not. :o

So the war mentioned in RF2 is actually the same war that’s going on in RF1.

Sounds like they are trying to build a world, though I think its potenital may be lost if it is just limited to RF games (they are good, but you couldn’t do much with the Sechs Empire directly with a RF game without some radical depatures.

Another teaser video showing off the game engine and play mechanics:

Turns out that the hero’s natural form is that of the were-sheep (I refuse to say were-ram :P).

I suppose part of the story is to portray that love transcends species.

I must at least give them credit for thinking somewhat outside the box there with a werecreature, and a herbivore at that, something traditionally not considered in myths as something ones shapeshifts into (carnivores and occasionally ominovores are generally).

The next Harvest Moon on DS has a site:

Looks like they’re sticking with the “quasi-European” setting, which is perfectly fine with me.

Nothing special about it so far… pretty standard stuff at the moment. Graphics are obviously improved though. Marvelous is obviously getting better with DS hardware, and able to squeeze the most out of it.

They’ve revealed a few of the winnable wives and husbands on this page:

Rune Factory 3 has been out for over a week now, and once again proves you don’t screw with teenage farmers who’ve lost their memories. 8)

Been playing it and the massive improvements to the game engine performance - both hardware and gameplay - are obvious from the start. Marvelous has seriously mastered their ability to develop DS titles, and this one shows it. While the bgame dating engine isn’t as elaborate as I hoped it would be, what little is provided makes the romance more “deeper” than previous RF releases. Nonetheless, though the farming sim and adventure modes have come a long way since RF1, I think they could have done better with the “one day will be bgaming” element. I suppose it’s something to look forward to in RF4…

Having your lover battle aside you against evil? Kick ass. Having your love do something stupid because the AI ain’t so hawt? No so kick ass. :stuck_out_tongue:
Important to note that it’s not just the potential brides who can fight by your side: Sakuya’s mom for example, is one badass MILF with her dual wielding madness.

In any case… the first intro movie has the best RF theme song ever. Here’s the full music video if you’re curious.

When you get married a second movie is played. Massive spoiler if you watch it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love the part at 0:42, where the hero runs pass all the girls who love him, and does not stop util he reaches the one he loves the most (Sia being the canon choice). Very symbolic, and with the somber song, makes you feel sorry for all the others. The grassy field turning into a vast sakura one has he gets closer to her, is also a nice touch.

XSEED will not be porting RF3. Very sad news given how great a job they did with RFF on the Wii. :frowning:

They expressed that someone grabbed the license. 99.9% certain it’s Natsume again. Probably a late 2010 or early 2011 release. Wish they’d keep the original Japanese VA’ing…
