I really enjoyed the Sakura Diaries DVDs I watched. I only wish they had made more episodes.
U-jin animes never seemed to bore me . Specially this one . I almost died laughing myself silly in the part where Toma asked Urara for a certain “good luck charm”, snort, ha, ha, ha ! I would really recommend this series .

Yeah, I know, but what can you do? ADV is probably one of the slickest companies out there, it's not afraid to exploit the naivete of mainstream fans, it offends hardcore fans with its low episode count per VHS for a long time, but it makes a lot of money. Yeah, Microsoft of Anime, I concur.

well... I do know that ADV's Sakura Wars did edit as formating from TV editing and DVD. I overheard original laserdiscs have unedit. Now if ADV's Sakura Wars Unedit will release soon, then I will see if same format of laserdisc. I am loving to read Sakura Wars manga, also watch unedit tapes.
I’m also PO’ed at ADV for another reason – right after I had collected all 8 Evangelion DVDs, they announce a special EVA DVD boxed set. GRRRR… if I had known they’d do such a thing, I would just have held my horses and waited for that. But ADV isn’t the only one guilty of such a thing. Bandai is the same! Right after Cowboy Bebop was released in 6 individual DVDs, they announce a boxed set – and I already had 4 of the 6!
At least Animeigo is releasing the Special Edition Macross boxset first through their website, then releasing the single volume DVD’s 3-6 months later through retail outlets.
Well, since it’s ADV we’re talking about, I guess it’s noe big suprise. This happens a lot in SoftCel
By the way, since there is a discussion open on Sakura Diaries, I like to ask a question. Is it true that the OVA kinda leaves you in the middle/hanging/unresolved and you require the manga to finish up the story???

It's true; as Kumiko-san notes above, they only had time to present less than 1/10 of the complete story. Personally, given that the anime had to end, I'm happy with the way that it did; rather than just stopping (a la FAIRY PRINCESS REN) or heading off in its own direction (like KENSHIN), it presents a nice "life goes on" montage with a satisfying final shot (unlike the "WTF?" montage concluding PLEASE SAVE MY EARTH).
And since I know ADV was entirely unaware of the existence of a separate LD version of the series before they started releasing it, I'll be happy to have both! Sort of like the way RE-ANIMATOR provides quite different angles on its story and characters between the theatrical release and the TV version.
How much difference is there between “uncut” Sakura Diaries and the initial release? I’m considering getting the “uncut” one but if the diff is negligible then I may not since I already blew $80+ on the 4 discs.

I didn't watch ADV's Sakura Diaries. If I remember I watched unedit Sakura Diaries tapes. I remember it had often bare breasts. One of anime club members told me that Sakura Diaries used bras instead bare breasts. Am I correct or wrong? I am sorry that I didn't buy ADV's Sakura Diaries. I have wait until whole box set as I always buy box set than single DVD.

Really??? I still wonder if Sakura Wars Ep. 1's Urara flashed Touma by her bare breast without her bra during hotel. I still think ADV did edit bra on hotel scene.
Well, the dub making Urara sound like an idiot? What’s new about that ^_^;; Saw Spriggan at BAAF and man, if the film was bad before, it was worse with dub. “Honh honh, Ah’m Jean, and Ah’m French, cahn’t you tell with my outrajus French acsent?” Ugh, and the bit part that Wakaba had to play in the Utena movie was just a absolutely terrible casting on the voice director’s part. Thank god the story was just awesome that the dub didn’t ruin it, and the major voices were fairly appropriate.

Anyhow my best friend told me he’ll get this new release (he borrowed my 4-volume set and loved it) so I can just borrow it from him and see the difference…

Speaking of ADV, I heard End of Summer/Dokusei was longer in Japan. I only seen the first tape and it seemed a little short. Also, will it ever be released on DVD?
ADV is planning to release all of their SoftCel pics vids to DVD sometime next year. What i want to know is about this uncut Sakura Diaries… are there extra sceans? cause if there aren’t, i’m just fine with the version i have. Kinda sucks tho cause after i bought the last vol, a few days later i found out that they’re were gonna release a boxset, didn’t know it was uncut tho…
