Snow Drop - basic comments

Hey Kumiko, don’t forget about me

I also love Snow Drop and can’t wait to play it. Thes story in Snow Drop really interest me, as well as Tokimeki Check In.
I sorta like the romance story where there’s one guy and lots of girls to choose (Season of Sakura was my most favourite english game)
So if anyone ask me what anime or game I like, I just say two things, anything with romance and happy ending

Hi Kumiko-chan,

Snow Drop does sound pretty darn intriguing. I must say the idea of a hopelessly romantic game has peaked my curiosity. I seem to be a sucker for hopelessly romantic anime, so this should be right up my alley. And the art looks pretty darn keen too.

I played a little bit of Snop Drop so far, but I’m entrhalled with Shin Ruriiro no Yuki from Ail to really get it into it. From the hour or so I’ve played, it seems pretty interesting, and now that I think about it, it’s sorta related to Ruriiro no Yuki with the Yuki onna and all :stuck_out_tongue:

I personally prefer something more tragic, heh, heh.Like the AOK series.

AIR :-
The main guy die trying to lift a curse from the heroine, but the heroine still dies in the end.

ONE :-
The guy left this dimension, leaving the girls, well, heartbroken.

Kanon :-
One of the girls fell from the tree and died, leaving the guy heartbroken and another turn into a fox.

Really? MEM was dramatic in the OVA? I’ve played both MEM and well…Shin Ruriiro no Yuki, and it amazes me how the same company can put out games with such differing themes, with MEM being one of the darker games I’ve ever played, while Ruriiro is very light and has a lot of comedy.

Hmm, I can see where you’re coming from, with the setting being the aftermaths of a recent war with most heroines being victims of that war…including the main character himself. Of course, the game isn’t really a normal ADV game…

Now that I think about it, Rasen Kairou, probably one of the darkest games I’ve ever come across, is a r.uf game isn’t it? That had a very sad story too, not to mention heavy sex…but I’m not sure if games like that really has a chance at being popular here in the US, since those type of games are aimed at a decidedly niche audience.
Too bad though, since it’ll be very interesting to see such games make it here in the US.

Kumiko-chan,

I thought most European fairy tales were moral stories; similar to Aesop’s Fables. Kinda like, “don’t go wandering in the woods by yourself,” and “don’t trust strangers.” I mean Grimm’s fairy tales are full of these sorts of things.

Hi.
I was just looking at Snow Drop game since Kumiko mentioned that it will be released soon.
The game amaze me more & more as I looked at it. Couldn’t wait until I get my hands on it.

However, one thing bugs me. Have guys seen Shizuka’s face. She’s very kawaii but the glasses…ooohhhh…it makes her looks strange.
Anyway, one of the sample pic in Snow Drop page has a picture of Shizuka without glasses, is this her?
Here’s the link:

Hi, Kumiko.
It’s not that I don’t like girls with glasses.
Sometimes it hides their true beauty but on the other hand sometimes it brings out the scent of attractiveness from them.
So it depends on the situation and place

As for Shizuka, her glasses just looks strange on her that’s all. If you look at the Snow Drop page, you’ll see how Shizuka is totally different with and without glasses.

Hmmm…the scene you posted sure is funny, I can’t wait to see it person.
Ne Kumiko, I thought you would pick this scene

Just kidding…gomen…gomen

Well I’ll just have to wait and play the game to see the full story and the reason behind that pair of glasses

…just for the hell of it, I made a 15-meg MPEG of the video of Snow Drop that is shown at the opening of the game.

But where to upload it is still in question…currently talking with Peter about this.

There’s a opening video for Snow Drop!?
How COOL!!!
I wanna see it too!

KUMIKOOOOOOO, when’s the game coming out?

Is the video good?

yes the video is pretty nice IMHO…has the opening song too

Peter just gave me the necessary info for uploading stuff (in a quite humorous way actually)…you should see the 15-mb MPEG movie available for download at the downloads page within 24-48 of reading this message (unless Kumiko-chan or Peter wants to stop me before for some reason…)

Oh goodie the opening video will be posted!?
I’ll download it for sure.

Thanx for uploading it

For 56K users, 15mb is still reasonable for them IMHO (it’s only 45min-1hr)…think how big IE 5.5 download is…it’s about the same size, so does that mean they 56K users won’t download it? Now, if the file is 30mb then yes it’s too much of a hassle to download for 56K users, but then there is an increasing amount of people going for high speed connection right? Dave E. just got himself cable didn’t he? Peter uses Ethernet over in Japan, and I am using yummy T1 right now wuuuuuhahahhahahahahaha (typical villain evil laugh). And I think it doesn’t hurt to post the 15 mb file right now…since the quality is good enough to be included in E-login magazines as demo movie anyways.

Kumiko, if possible please tell Dave E. to give me the english lyrics as well, coz you 2 know what I am supposed to do for Peach Princess eh? hehe

Also please tell Dave that I moved his streaming file to a more organized location (so Peter will know from now on where the heck these uploaded files are)…and now I’ve gotta reverse-enginner Peter’s really ugly HTML code right now

Alright, it’s up. They are all in the free downloads page:

http://www.peachprincess.com/Merchant2/downloads.html

This file is taken directly from the Japanese version…it’s 640x480 size AVI and it’s 80mb big (which is impossible to download for modem users). I converted it to 320x240 (half the size) in MPEG format, and Dave E converted that to Windows Streaming Video format.

The MPEG format is 15.5mb
The Windows Streaming Video format is 4.3mb, but you get to hear hallucinating echoes and rice krispes guy talking (aka snap, crackle and pop) in the sound because of the slightly degraded sound quality for streaming purposes.

In any cases, please enjoy them. If you have the patience and time to download, I personally suggest the MPEG format. Otherwise, go quick with the WMV format.

Hello.
I just finished downloading the Snow Drop opening movie.
Both the CG and music were kawaii
I can’t wait until I played the real thing.

Thanx for uploding it.

Kumiko,

nope, I download the whole file before playing it, and I use my air-traffic controller-sized headphones for listening so everything goes right into my ears…just my opinion that the music in the WMV file is not as “crisp and clear” as the one in MPG…the same applies to the graphic quality…it’s close (which I was surprised at), but you can see the difference if you look closely

I might be exaggerating about the snap crackle and pop, but there is definitely some hallucinating echoes, no question about that (at the beginning at least)

Hi.
I think 15 MB is not that bad.
My connection is 56k modem and my downloading rate is 4.5kb/sec and it only took me around 1 hour.
If you reduce the size, the quality might be affected.

I suggest using GetRight to avoid any fouls up while downloading.

…and here they say that patience is a dying virtue.

Hello.
I forgot to mention this but after watching the opening movie of Snow Drop, I remembered something.
It’s quite suprising how the face of the main character is shown very clearly in the game. Usually in bishoujo gaming, we can’t see the face of the main character clearly.
