Spring 95 BSI: Accidental atmospheric exposure of an artificially engineered virus developed for mass extinction warfare. It is believed incurable. To prevent global hysteria and forestall the collapse of civilization for as long as possible, this event is kept tightly secret. Select national leaders are informed of the situation and prepare for the inevitable Armageddon.
Spring 94 BSI: Early symptoms of the disease are first reported in significant numbers on the week of Saint Valentine’s Day. Children and the elderly are struck hardest, with nearly all of those exhibiting illness, dying in severe agony within 72 hours. Emergency centers are unable to handle the massive patient influx.
Summer 94 BSI: Collapse of global society. Roughly 50% of the world population has perished from the “Valentinus Virus” - the majority of victims being children. Birth mortality rate is 100%. Socioeconomic systems crash and governmental order ceases to function. Sporadic conflict and survival desperation results in countless deaths.
Winter 94 BSI: Valentinus Virus rapidly mutates to infect avian, bovine, and swine species. The few remaining functional organizations in the world, predominantly military, seemingly vanish. Nuclear weapon strikes annihilate select locations in Europe and North America: Atlanta, London, Ottawa are among those obliterated.
Summer 93 BSI: 70% of the world population has perished from the Valentinus Virus. No human child has been born in a year. The disease has mutated to infected two-thirds of all mammalian life on the planet. State of the global ecosystem is profoundly impacted.
Summer 80 BSI: Infection death rate drops dramatically. Sporadic successful human births begin to occur. Thus far 90% of the world population has perished from the Valentinus Virus.
Spring 70 BSI: Valentinus Virus goes dormant among the infected. The human species universally carries the disease, but it inexplicably ceases lethality.
Fall 60 BSI: The existence of a city-state known as Sanctuary, located on the frozen continent of Antarctica, begins to spread across the planet as its military forces seize control of vital resources and territories. Resistance in areas is fierce, but no regional power is capable enough to indefinitely oppose them. It is eventually learned Sanctuary was founded by several world governments before the Great Collapse as a “last ditch effort” to maintain civilization.
Fall 45 BSI: Sanctuary has quelled all significant global resistance to its ambitions, effectively establishing itself as the new world government. The lone superpower begins forced relocation and education of populations to facilitate the restoration of a modernized society.
Fall 20 BSI: Civil riots against Sanctuary occurs in the megacity of Nuevo Sao Paulo. Insurrection in Great Lakes City, Neo Tokyo and Maha Delhi soon follows. Sanctuary military forces are quickly dispatched to quell the organized resistance, but are overwhelmed.
Winter 20 BSI: Start of the Global Civil War.
Spring 19 BSI: End of the Global Civil War. Negotiations between independence seeking megalopolis and Sanctuary take place. Unable to retain all territories under control, Sanctuary uses the equator as a line of demarcation: the entire northern hemisphere is declared free. Megacities of the northern hemisphere coordinate a mutual defense alliance (the Polaris Accord) to deter potential Sanctuary retaliation.
Spring 4 BSI: On the fifteenth anniversary of their expansive military pact, the megalopolis of Great Lakes City, Neo Tokyo, and Maha Delhi formally integrate political governments. Soon thereafter, the remaining six northern hemisphere megalopolis follow suit, resulting in the Protectorate.
Present (Fall 0): As a symbol of hope and prosperity, the Protectorate christens and launches Invictus, the world’s first luxury submersible ocean liner. It embarks a total of 5,000 passengers: among them the most powerful and influential citizens of the planetary north.
Fall 0 ASI: The Protectorate declares war on Sanctuary for the terrorist sinking of the SOL Invictus. Sanctuary rejects and denounces the accusation. Commencement of the Second Global Civil War.
I’m aware I could just go to the Ren’Py forum and ask for victims, but I don’t hang around there and honestly would rather deal with people I know. You’re not going to be asked to code or debug, however I’m asking for experienced guinea pigs since they could probably cite a general idea of what I’ve done wrong if something does in fact go wrong.
